During the chaos of the few seconds following Gothia's accusation, Brenfine frowns down at the delicious meal and her empty spoon following her last bite. With an audible sigh, the woman stands up and follows Gothia's gaze to the woman in red and places her hand on her sword hilt, not drawing, but simply lifting the rapier partially from its hanger, on her belt.

Brenfine sits with her team and enjoys the warm meal. She easily chats with everyone doing her best to include everyone. The meal is delightful and she savours ever bits, knowing that one doesn't always get to enjoy the food they get. In her mind she reflects upon her years on the street, scrounging for every meal. She will never forget the day she was adopted and give a home and a purpose.
"If we are staying here, we need to find a way to keep an eye on the other inn tonight" she whispers to her companions.

Brenfine listens and thinks over all that is being said. "We need more information. I believe we should not isolate ourselves over night, I'm not comfortable risking any of you to this cult. If Gothia has the ability to get a read on Bertram is good or evil that would help. Given how successful the cult has been at capturing people, it makes perfect sense that they have help within the city."

"The idea of searching Bertram's room sounds good if we have some evidence to back up the rumors. Invading the man's privacy on the word of strangers does not sit well with me."

I have a grudge against ToEE, I've started in many times and never finished it once and I want to BEAT it! My problem is that I'm running it for my regular game group using dnd 3.5 right now and I'd have to play out my OOC knowledge. ToEE would be my preference.

Brenfine understands the need for lying occasionally, but like Gothia, will only tolerate a little of it before seeing that it has to be addressed.

I am new to Pathfinder, I've only played it occasionally, which XP track are we using, fast, med or slow?

"I appreciate your flexibility in his situation, my friend. It would appear a number of our group find the truth to be ... malleable." Brenfine checks her weapons when she finishes.

As the group sets off to follow the tracks, she readies her bow and knocks an arrow, ready to fire should they see any of the reptilian folks in the distance.

Brenfine hears Vesica begin on her story, and quickly realizes the bard is spinning a lie. With a slight sigh, she holds her tongue, realizing that it would be a problem for their team to undermine the group and instigate strife within their burgeoning unity.

Guessing her groups responses, Brenfine walks over to Gothia and places a hand on the paladin's sword-arm. "I expect you are as uncomfortable with Tavern Tale's story as I am, but now is not a time for truth in place of trust. We are about to test ourselves against a cult of evil, causing strife within the team would not help us achieve the greater good for the whole population of this village. Still tongue, wise head, my friend. We have a greater purpose here. Besides, we can redistribute any extra coin she gets for the team back to those we rescue so they can start their life over again.

Brenfine walks up to the mayor, hearing him talking about the abductions. She is suspicious of the man, for not having the militia handle this problem before now. "Good day fine sir." she states with all due pleasantries. "My comrades and I have managed to best these vile intruders into your land and we have one still alive for you to question about these abductions your people have been living in fear of. We gladly offer our services to your people. At this Brenfine engages the crowd with a sweep of her arm to the people gathered in the town square. "in dealing with whatever is happening and I assure you we will do everything in our power to rescue your villagers, your children, from who ever has taken them." The woman draws in the crowd behind her, just in case the mayor turns out to be dishonest. A likely situation knowing the ruling class and also his lateness in enlisting the militia in resolving the problem.

Brenfine draws her rapier and closes with the trogs, joining Chestman and Gothica. She turns her body for a minimal profile to the enemy and holds her rapier point forward in a guard position, ready to lunge.

Brenfine dashes off after Gothia and Chestman, doing her best to keep up with the enthusiastic warriors, chanting a spell to aid them in the fight to come.

Cast Bless, 50'radius burst, +1 to attack rolls and fear saves. With a duration of one minute I'm hoping to cast it before the fighting begins.

Brenfine's eyes go wide with the mention of lizardfolk, that knowledge filed in a few missing pieces of information. "Let's go!" she calls to her companions, her voice cracking like a whip "No more children will suffer while I draw breath. she utters with firm conviction as she heads for the door.

At the door, she glowers at Tallen and then gives a curt nod to the door, while hooding his gaze. Her expression grim and determined, she clearly intends the young man to come and help.

Brenfine takes a deep breath, things moved very quickly and the party jumped off to action, not unwarranted action, but yet without due discussion and caution.

When Vesica whispers in her hear, Brenfine pats the young woman on the shoulder "Be safe you two and take care to stay together. I do not want to add either of you to the growing list of missing persons"

After Sea Ranger and Vesica have left, Brenfine walks over to Gothia. "I agree a visit to the mayor is needed, but lets temper our tone and see if they are open to our assistance first. Whether or not the mayor accepts our aide, we will investigate this problem. Children are in need of our help and we will not turn a blind eye." The priestess gives a pause for her words to sink in.

"Who wishes to come with us to see the Mayor and ask them if we can help in the town? In any case, we need to stay in pairs or larger to reduce our chances of being targeted."

Brenfine is shocked to hear of the troubles facing this town "People missing and crocodiles leaving the swamp! What force could be driving crocodiles out of their home and to attack villagers?" she asks musing out loud "Has something like this every happened here before? Where have the people gone missing?" The priestess is very curious to get any additional information from the innkeeper.

Brenfine chats up the innkeeper "I can see that, and a fine place you have here. My companions and I set out from Hochoch seeking adventure. We are wanderers looking to find those in need to help, foes to vanquish or simply new people to meet." she says with a smile. "The common room here is very quiet, so different from the other inns and taverns I've visited before. Has someone passed recently, or perhaps some other dire event? I don't want to offend someone with an uninformed comment, I hope you understand."

Following after Tallen, Brenfine hitches her mule then holds open the door for companions "Lets put our feet up for a moment and grab a drink to clear the dust from out throats. Perhaps we can get a sense for the town while we are here. "

Brenfine is stunned by the sombre mood in the tavern. The bustle and chatter that should be ever present in a common room is missing and that doesn't sit well with her. After everyone has entered she heads to the bar. "Good day sir, how are you on this fine day?" she asks wile ordering a drink, hoping to engage the innkeeper in conversation.

After hearing the names of both inns, the Golden Grain Inn has a name the feel better to Brenfine's instincts. "I'm thinking the Golden Grain Inn sounds like a better place, or at least has a name that feels more pleasent. Let's make our way over there, yes?" she suggests to the group

Brenfine snickers along with the dwarf's grunt, "I could have guessed your choice by the smell of your breath, my friend" jibes the wiry half-elf, teasing Chestman with a huge smile.

At their knight's question, she ponders before responding. "I should think it might be Saint Cuthbert or even The Archpaladin, both are not uncommon in these parts. However, in small villages such as this, it is quite common for the folk to worship the Old Faith, or perhaps even Pelor or Kord."

The ever cheerful Brenfine, walked along with her friends, the reigns of her mule in one hand, and a knocked arrow in the other. As the traveled she would keep an eye out for familiar herbs and stop and gather anything she thought would aid in her healing arts, or even useful alchemical reagents, storing them on the mule, tied up with string on her pack saddle.

As an orphan, Brenfine found it good to make friends of those around her. As their troupe traveled, she would chat amiably with all her fellow adventures. From the dwarf to the humans and even the orc woman, she would always seek to find common ground for chatter. The young man, still without the carriage of an adult, Sea Ranger, interested her the most. A man of a different divine patron and also a half-breed like herself, she found the most in common with him.

"A town ahead, I hope we have a bed for the night and a warm meal in our future. I should think an inn would be the best place to visit first. A place to lodge our belongings and listen to the town rumors. But the temple would make a very reasonable second place to visit Tallen, excellent suggestion. Anyone else have some other ideas?" Brenfine tries to get the opinions of all her companions heard, no one should be silent in the company of friends.
