The city would need to be pacified district by district. Buildings and services restored.

Depending on what wards of the city are in the PCs area of control, different benefits are granted to the new population. Do we retake the Temple district or is it finally time to do something about the chanting and glowing lights emanating from the sewers?

Slumbering evils accidentally disturbed. Outside powers angered over the territorial encroachment. The descendants of the city's prior population returning to claim what was theirs. Lost treasures gained...

Just give them the file, the output it, staple it and you're done.

Seriously - I'm really curious ... what am I missing?

You are missing the collector gene that wants a book, not a stapled homemade version. Sure they appear to be the same on the surface and the information is identical but a POD company does a better job of binding the book. I have several POD hardcovers from LULU and they look identical to books you can purchase off the shelf of a Barnes and Nobles.

Something that I printed at the local copy joint and bound myself just wouldn't have the same appeal for me, nor would it fill the same niche.

Its the same reasoning that causes a near mint and an acceptable copy of the same book to go for different prices in the secondary market. They both hold the same level of information but some people prefer to have the cleaner sleeker copy.

Red Dawn

Coupled with Toy Soldiers and TAPS, they make for the greatest '80s Tripple Feature ever!

Oh yes...undoubtedly Red Dawn.... I just love the scene that I am about to butcher....

six hundred thousand screaming chinamen.
but I thought there was a billion people living in china?
there was...

any movie that keeps you awake at night plotting escape routes into the countryside is a classic in my book. Then again my friends find it bizarre that I have calculated the best firing arcs from the cover of my laundry room window just in case zombies ever meander through my front lawn. Sure....sure...I may be the crazy friend with automatic weapons and stashes of canned goods now but......
