Liberty's Edge

There is a rule that prevents it. When you read on p233 about getting two skill ranks at first level, it says
"Sometimes you might gain training in a specific skill from multiple sources, such as if your background granted training in Crafting and you
took the alchemist class, which also grants training in Crafting. Each time after the first that you would gain the trained proficiency rank in a given skill, you instead allocate the trained proficiency to any other skill of your choice."

So, no you can't. You get another skill ranked as trained, but you can't make a skill expert if you get it twice at first level.

Cool. Thanks!

Following off this thread, the section "You can more easily cast spells that the creature has as spell-like abilities, although you must still cast them as normal for your class. When you cast a spell that the creature has as a spell-like ability, it requires no verbal or somatic components and can’t be countered."
Does this mean that if the spell-like abilities of a creature are on my spell list, I can cast them but only if I memorize them beforehand, and when I cast them they require no S/V components? Or is there some other way to cast them?
For example, if I am a 9th level druid and I cast FFII. I can assume the form of an Ankou (B4). That creature has the SLA of True Seeing 3/day. That is a 7th level druid spell, but it is on my spell list. Would I be able to cast it or no? Are the SLAs limited by character level?

Well, that sucks. Ok, then!

I know that for tiers 1-7, obviously a level 8 character cannot play in it. However, is it legal to use a level 7 version of my level 8 character to play in the tier 1-7 scenario?
It seems like it would be okay, right?

Thanks!

What are the odds that generics will get you into the Special? Slim? None? Slim-to-none? Fat-to-Some?

So I have the option at GenCon of playing my 6th level character in Tier 3 - 7 (subtier 6 - 7) or Tier 5 - 9 (subtier 5 - 6). Is there any significant increase in difficulty in playing a 3 - 7 versus a 5 - 9, or does it all balance out based purely on the subtier? Just curious! Thanks!

Some of this will be going into an open playtest, but I would be suprised if the vermin druid is in there. However, I'm sure there are a couple of feats in one of the Paizo books about a Vermin companion, although I can't remember where.

What I need are the statistics of the vermin companions...

Of the three items you listed above only one if from the official Paizo folks for the Pathfinder RPG. The other items were from 3.5 or fan created info. So I recommend using the official PRD and core rule book as they are both in agreement.

Awesome! Thanks for the speedy reply!

This may be posted somewhere else, but I've looked in three different places and found three different answers.

In the Pathfinder Campaign Setting, the Elven Curve Blade costs 24gp, does 2d6 damage and has a crit multiplier of x3.

In the Pathfinder Reference Document on Paizo's site, it costs 80 gp, does 1d10 damage and crits as 18-20 (x2).

In another SRD I found off the paizo site, it costs 90gp, does 1d10 damage and crits as 18-20 (x2).

So which one is it? :)

Are some pdfs being made available later than others? I have my book preordered and am a subscriber, yet I haven't received any emails about the pdf being available.
Just wondering...

Sorry if I'm late to the party, but are the maps simply all of the maps collected together, or are they "battle maps" that have 1" squares for use with miniatures?

Liberty's Edge

Just wondering, on the map, there are a bunch of codes (b1, h1, etc.). To what do these refer? Is there a map key that I am not seeing?

In the PF Beta rules, the cleric rules for domains have changed drastically, with the elimination of domain spells (p176) and the addition of various level-based spell powers, but in the PF Chronicles Campaign Setting (p158), clerics have domains as described in the Player's Handbook. I'm assuming that the Beta version supersedes the Campaign Setting, but was curious as to if there were any Golarion-specific spell powers?
