My player is using the synthesis summoner, at level 4, it is written that he has 4 attacks.
I read that bite is primary and the hands are as well. He also has two weapon fighting feat. To understand this better, a player claims that he has minuses on his attacks because he said something about two weapon fighting. The summoner player claims that no he doesnt have minuses. For me its more work and i dont have the time to figure out if this is true or not since i have 5 players and campaign to run. Can anyone just explain to me the attack part. Does he get minuses ect. Regards
From my understanding, my lvl 4 synthesis biped eidolon has 4 attacks which 3 are primary. Bite, two claws and a secondary attack which i don't know what to take yet. With the points, can i choose abilities that cost 3 or 4? Also,, if i want 4 arms, how does that work? Do i have to spend points to get extra limb? Sorry, new at the game
I read up a players class to understand it better and i am still stuck with a question. It has to do with summoning and the eidolon. I understand that if he is in eidolon form, he cannot summon a monster or else the eidolon disappears in the planes. He tells me that he can summon his eidolon or summon monster up to 8 times a day because its a spell like ability. He says if the eidolon dies it goes back to the planes or he can deactivate it at anytime or If he falls asleep, the eidolon goes to the planes as well. Is this possible? Because i wasn't able to find that info. If this is not true, can someone explain it or provide me a link that says how much times he can cast it and how he can send it back... Because we are in a situation that if the city spots magic users, they are thrown in prison and his translucent image can be a prob. Thanks

Wow ok, because he has on his sheet: Fort: 4
He attacked with a bite and 2 claws at +3 which i find its not bad because most have +6 to their attack but its only 1 attack compared to his 3 I wish there was a character builder so i can add the stats and it calculates by it self. We had a session last evening and i trust the player but now i am having doubts. 2 players complained that his stats don't seem to add up and i saw a concern as they seem less interested towards the end. I rather correct this before i lose 2 good players
Let me type in the stats and can anyone tell me if his numbers are good. Summoner lvl 4 Str 9
I let him use the aging rule to add bonus Fort = 3
Str 16
Fort = 1
He said the way he understands it, the saves fuses with eidolon.. Is this true?
In my group we have a summoner synthesist. There are some rules that are unclear to me how he plays his character. 1- If he is in this eidolon form, does it stay as long as it has hit points? 2- At anytime, can he unsummon his eidolon and what type of action is it? 3- His level 4 eidolon has bite, claws, limb arm left and right and legs left and right. Is this correct? 4- How many attacks does he get in 1 round, meaning how many d20's does he get to roll and if there is more than one, does he get penalties to his attack rolls or does he get the same bonus for all his attacks, hoping that he has all these attacks? EDIT: I asked him to leave his sheet so i can read it and understand it because some players said he was playing it wrong. To add to my other questions: 5- When i look at the summoner class rules and compare them to the archetype synthesist class. I believe that some rules are replaced such as level 1,4,6,12 and 16.
Regards
First, i want to thank everyone for providing me the informations. Here are the stats some asked for the level 4 summoner. Str 10
His eidolon:
Then its written: bite, limbs arms and pounce. On his sheet, it is also written:
Edit: he just told me that he gains more speed with a trait called desperate speed Hope this can help
I am a DM for a campaign and we have a synthesist summoner in our group. I will not start reading everyone's class as i do trust them but for this class i have to enquire about it. I took notes about it so i can get answers. 1- he rolled his ability scores for his summoner and added them in. He says that he has the option of 3 different types of forms which come with ability scores. When he summons this form, does he get to fuse the summoner abilities with the forms he's able to choose from? 2- when in eidolon form (level 4), how many attacks does it get per round? 3- once in form, can the eidolon attack and the summoner cast a standard spell in the same time as long as it is not a summon monster spell? 4- he claims that he has an AC of 21. He said that both his summoner and eidolon fuses together. Can this be possible? If not, what is his real AC when in this eidolon form? 5- I calculated his summoner's HP which comes up to 34 and he says that his eidolon has 44 hp. He said that his summoner can transfer his HP to his eidolon. Is this possible? 6- is it possible that his summoner and eidolon have a speed of 45?
So i have decided to follow some of your advice about playing a summoner syn.. Rolling in front of the dm 4d20 drop lowest... I was very very lucky with my rolls, as a matter of fact, in 30 years of playing d&d, i have never rolled stats for a character as high. Str 10
To play this character right and not having players or gm asking questions and me not knowing it all. How does the summoning of the eidolon work? Is that an ability? Or is it always active until it drops to zero? Also, the summon monters, i believe i can do it 5 times a day. I just summon any lvl 1 creature and get to control it. I remember reading somewhere about a good feat to take called weapon focus natural weapon.. May i ask why should i use that? To conclude my post, if someone can give me an about "what to do when playing this class" just to make me understand better. Regards to all and thank you
Thank you all for the suggestions. The powerful character if a friend, not the GF. He started out as a fighter to get all these bonuses feats ect, exchanged all the proficiency.. Heavy, medium light armor, shield and all weapon types for feats. In a way to get all the feats he wants, then leveled up in monk so he can fury blows. I mean i don't see how that is fair but told everyone else to change ours... I need my shield and armor.. Maybe not heavy but still. Then my gf started out to play her character... After a few sessions, they switched.. She dm while he gets to play so in a way she never bothered looking at his sheet since he was the dm and figured he probably knows what he's doing. But i believe it ain't going to change and she doesn't want to cause conflict with him because some want to play. So i just might pull a kamikaze with my character.. Will have to read up how a character on death row works as this is the first time i had a character dying
BTW, thanks for all the replies. Blackblood, no they are not a couple, but the other DM is my GF lol. I did try talking to her about it but i believe she see's the matter but doesn't want to cause friction with the other guy. She likes the game and her character and likes playing. There was another that use to play but gave up because he thought it was going in a direction that he doesn't want to go. The other DM with power character, decided that we will gain 2 feats instead of 1. I find this unbalances the game and said so. I mean i believe paizo decided 1 feat for a reason.. BALANCE. Unfortunately, i think that eventually this campaign might eventually stop because the others will lose interest. BTW what book can i find the Synthesist Summoner??
This is the situation, i was told to have fun with it and role-play. The dm shares the dm spotlight with another guy. This other guy has crazy stats where there is no weakness and it's taking the fun away. We just turned level 4 and his ability stats are boosted to the max for a half giant monk fighter. Str 21, int 18, wis 18, cha 14, dex 14 and con 15. Movement of 8, and is skilled at everything. Get 2 attacks that deals 14-22 points of damage each and he's good at stealth and the challenge rating is a joke. He hides his stats from everyone the the other dm says, just play your character the way you want to play it. My cleric, str 16, con 12, dex 12, int 9, wis 19, cha 13.. Its to a point that there is no use for praying for spells because they don't do much in this situation. I find its pointless to play because buffing is now useless. I asked to play another class and the dm seems cool about it. But then again, is it going to be affective or will i be in the same BS. Should i just shut up and play like i was told? If the possibility to make a better class, can you guys suggest me what i can use that can make it interesting for me or feel like I am doing something that makes it interesting.
In our campaign, we have 2 dm's who switch every x sessions to give them both time to play. A DM decided that instead of getting one feat when we level up, we instead get two. The wiz in our campaign finds it unfair and unbalanced. Says it affects the challenge rating and also it benefits his fighter more and thus made him so strong that he hardly has no weaknesses. I know, i am not enjoying my cleric because i don't even need to cast spells to buff up and the reason why i made the character is to cast spells but this is not working the way i want it. I find him useless
First of all, our groupe age goes from 30-43. I decided to play a cleric because i never played one before. Someone helped me to build the class, meaning choosing feats, spells ect to benefit him. Having luck domain for the roll 2d20 and choose the best result. We have a brawler type which hits like a truck causing massive amounts of damage and hits on a 7+ for level 4 grp. So i don't always hit because my stats are average and other has like 2 18's and 1 20. Its not my fault that my dex is 9 and i cant always hit or pass skills. Anyways, all that to say that xp is based on mostly how much damage we make. In my case i saw myself more like buffing the group and casting some spells. The way i see it, the brawler has no challenge rating as he has 20 ac. The CR is a good challenge for us but not him. I did say something about it but it was brushed off fast. Our DM said that i can re-roll for better stats and change spells and feats but she said that i cant change race or class unless multi class up to level 4 Is there a build that you guys can suggest to me for my cleric? As in feats, skills, spells and traits.
Regards and thank you for the imput.
Playing in Canada, Quebec. I play with my gf and cousin and dm. Cousin and gf went to english schools as i went to french. They seem to roleplay very well, maybe because their english is so good, i can't the same thing their french. In combat i was effective, gf had horrible rolling and cousin wasn't doing much damage. But i think the breaking weapon was excessive. It i my first time for PF but i did play some D&D in the pass
We just had our second session and it's my first time playing PF. I wasn't impressed about how it turned out. First of all, my first language is french but i speak english well enough. My only problem is that i struggle 3 times as much to understand and sink in at times. I try to take info down as much as i can but i do forget details from what was rubbed in. So when I asked a question later on, dm said he wasn't repeating. I tried explaining my situation that i have to find my words so ai struggle a little more. 1st session, as i got to the big city, i fail a perception check and got most gold stolen, leaving me with 2 pieces. In the first combat, i was unfortunate and rolled a 1 to hit the enemy on the ground then i was asked to roll a str check so i rolled a 19. He told me that i smashed my weapon. The second session, i tried getting another weapon like the one i use at a temple for the deity i serve and I was told that they don't hold any weapons because of the city laws. i found a good smith to make another and he charges me 15 gold piece which is doubled in the core book. For the rest of the session i sort of stayed in the background because I didn't feel I was having fun with this. Is this normal things to happen in this game?
My GM gave me the best of examples, in the movie lord of the rings, does everyone has a magic weapon and do they only relly on that weapon or do they use stuff on the ground, use kicks ect. Magic items should be unique in a way and hes right. Our dm will give us sometimes a special quest for a player which will find a magic item or anything to go with his back story. Also, if the player starts using his weapon all the time without being creative, he will sunder it in a way
Well I have a great GM and he does not want out of game talking unless you are talking to him about something, so as a GM, he does demand alot. This is why, i'm trying to find a way to roleplay this as much as possible. But the praying ex that Mage Evolving is giing some ideas...thanks
Ciarian: the players are me, my girlfriend and cousin, the gm is a friend. But the group is trying to roleplay like he want's as much as possible. We actually play 4th ed and the roleplaying is not good and there is a lot of out gaming saying to others.... I need healing, or even anwser for the gm which is rude. So yes in PF, we put an effort in roleplaying.
