"Are you certain you are ready to move just now?" Aikane cleans off his blades, watching the tree line. PerC: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16 He steps away from Oren and sidles up to Rata, and asks quietly, "How many stretchers do you think we can actually manage... mate?"

Nah nah, ship voyage was super quick relatively speaking. Seriously, stellar job, Kraken. As to RL: guys, when I am too busy to post, I am too busy to post. if that's a problem for this group, then I'll drop out.

So let me just say, you have my email. In my personal opinion this would have been a great time to PM or email me. TL;DR Aikane is like a lynx. Reality check: sometimes it seems this game in particular chugs along at 20 posts per day. I can't keep up with that in real life. Before I read the rest of the posts in discussion further down, let me just jump in here. I have a busy life. Kraken bots as needed. I get that. Just on the Paizo boards, I am playing in one fast-paced game (this one), one medium-paced game, GMing one medium-paced game, and playing in one slow-paced game. If I am posting too slow to keep up, and Kraken is tired of botting my actions, then perhaps I do not belong here. Let's talk mechanics first, this is Pathfinder after all. Originally Aikane was the only rogue in the party. It seemed like he had a real purpose then. He was (and hopefully still is) the skill specialist/frontiersman/scout for the group. Let's be frank, Aikane does not have ranged capability. He is not high optimized or brutal in combat. Christ, Aikane had to jump overboard in order to attack the sea monster last time. If Reknar hadn't slain it, he would be chum right now. (honestly, I meant that thanks Reknar). So, on to the, on to the, on to the Roleplaying.
He's good. I don't know if he's nice however. Given his reaction to the ship sinking, it should be clear that he doesn't cry over spilt milk. Let's talk story(line) now.
And then we go to the island. Aikane is essentially reacting to what goes on around him at this point. He actually feels at home on the island. This is what he came for, his deathwish. He interjects where he thinks he needs to, otherwise withdrawing into his jungle-self. Aikane is like a lynx. If you treat him like a star on a telenovella, then you might not get the answer you want.

Welp, gotta say I'm grinning really wide right now. Bought boat. Sailed into rough waters. Didn't buy insurance. Aikane stays seated on the beach. "I'll be fine here for a time, don't worry about fitting me onto the longboat." He's still seated in the sand, watching the treeline when he hears the crack. He looks over his shoulder toward the sound, and seeing the cause, merely shakes his head. Aikane scouts the area around the campsite. He prepares a small hammock/hide up in one of the trees near camp. About twenty feet off the ground he settles in to take a nap. "Wake me for my watch when it's time."survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

So, I totally didn't read the combat map, and I assumed this swarm was like a real-life swarm of locusts, a tide of insects sweeping through the jungle. Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed to see it's only a large sized monster. I also feel really dumb now.
Male Menehune Rogue 5 [HP 15; AC 21 / FF 21 / T 15; F: +3/ R: +7/ W: +3; Init +3; PerC: +12]
Aikane tries to tuck himself into the hollow of a tree, out of the way of the swarm, deep in the mud of the jungle, just off the path on the north side.
Or it may be survival (which is +7)

Aikane can't carry, yo. He might consider killing one of the "passengers", but only if he can ID them as Bonadeuce. Recommend he goes ahead to scout again. Leaving the medical care to these "experts" for now, Aikane spends that time slipping among the jungle leaves to scout around and ahead. Perc: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

While the litters are being prepared, Aikane steps away to scout around the clearing as well as back down along the trail.
He'll be out well ahead of the group scouting the dark path for danger and shortcuts.

Aikane moves stealthily eastwards, keeping a lookout for more among the thick brush.

Without going into too much detail, it suits Aikane's purposes to not stick himself out in front or away from his comrades voluntarily just yet. survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
The menehune keeps his hands at his sides, having removed his boots and tied them together onto his mended pack, he proceeds with the group barefoot. Used to traversing the hidden paths of the jungle, he eagerly keeps an eye out for trails traveled by local game.

Aikane spends the next couple of days taking it easy and keeping mostly to himself. In particular he does speak with Reknar at one point, appreciating the Human's skill with his weapon. The menehune spends the time recovering.

HOLD FAST! the little Menehune bellows out with all his lungs. Aikane sounds the alarm.
acro: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 It was at this time that I again reached a familiar conclusion. That it was a terrible mistake to ever purchase this wretched ship.

After an exhaustive search of the smelly hold and brig, Aikane slides carefully up the stairs shaking his head. He is glad he is still disguised as an unremarkable sailor. He is more appreciative of his freedom. If the crew or captain were to recognize him in Shaw, that would be ... unfortunate. Feel free to rule me out on this one Kraken, but I've been operating under the idea that Aikane plays down the stuff that differentiates him from a normal gnome. Such is the life of a menehune away from home. Aikane steps out on deck through the hole Reknar used. He shakes his head a bit, as if to signal nothing worthwhile. Character Aikane assumes all the loot except what he "Found on the one sailor's bunk" was kept in the Captain's Quarters above deck. My narrative is that he only found the pearls down there. The stongbox and bars of gold would have been in the captain's cabin, right? *But I'm no real life pirate* "I took the diagonal" the little humanoid offers by way of explanation.

You hire on a thief, even a neutral good one, I should say you should expect a certain level of "thievery in good measure". I'm not just here to check for traps and play cards, you know.
