Thank you for the shout-out Paizo! The Underworld Races & Classes Kickstarter is spelunking into the depths of the Underworld funding within the first hour and already unlocking lots of stretch and backer goals. The Underworld Races & Classes tome for 5th Edition and the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game (two separate books) includes devious drow, deep mining svirfneblin, psychedelic funglets, beautiful, semi-crystalline colliatur and more: a total of 14 new races and over 25 classes clocking in at 250+ pages! Authors of the newly revised Underworld Races & Classes tome include Thilo Graf AKA Endzeitgeist (Advanced Races Compendium by Kobold Press, Laying Waste by TPK Games, Strange Magic by Interjection Games), Stephen Rowe (Advanced Races Compendium, Paizo: Pathfinder Player Companions: Paths of the Righteous, Healer's Handbook, and Haunted Heroes Handbook), Chris Harris (Tome of Beasts, Advanced Races), Mike Myler (ENnie winning AaWBlog!, Hypercorps 2099 by Legendary Games, Veranthea Codex by Rogue Genius Games), and Jonathan G. Nelson (AAW Games owner/publisher and author on Rise of the Drow, Snow White, and Alagoran's Gem). Best of all: The book is written, playtested and ready to go - it is literally finished and ready for layout! The text is all done and this campaign is all about getting you the best-looking, most gorgeous book you can ask for! Instead of lining up additional races & classes as stretch goals we're giving you everything up front, straight out of the gates! So, what exactly do you get? This tome will include everything you need to create and play new and exciting races from the caverns of the world below. The pages will include new classes, archetypes, origins, and domains. Ahoolings, nefarious bat-people of the underworld
Iron Singer - Screech foes apart with lethal sonic blasts. (Ahool)
A detailed history and information on each race, its peculiarities, settlements and customs
A completely revised domain for the insidious drow to make the upperworlders fear even the very shadow they cast!

Thank you for every single bit of help and advice you've given me over the past 5 years since I started AAW Games. I must have sent you a few hundred emails over the years and you answered each and every one. I am grateful! Wishing you an amazing adventure, -Jonathan G. Nelson

The daylight spell is not actual sunlight but sunbeam or sunburst could potentially destroy the items (ultimately up to the GM). Really the way the text reads is as follows: "If items infused with liavous crystal are taken above ground into sunlight they permanently lose all of their properties..." So if you want to be specific you could say that in order to lose their properties the items need both of these things to happen together: 1. Be above ground 2. Be exposed to sunlight Just like any rule it's up to the GM how they wish to handle the situation. -Jonathan

Let's see what I can help answer here... 1. A00/A01/A02 - While this will take your PCs from levels 1-3 they are going to need the boost. The section of Rise of the Drow Prologue: The Darkness Arrives written by Steve Helt is a bit brutal and I've heard that most parties lost between 1-3 party members when working through that stretch (part 2 of the prologue). If they are level 2 or 3 it will increase their chances of survival while still allowing you to beef up encounters (by adding more enemies) if you so wish. Plus by playing through the earlier modules they will learn more about the region, make some friends, and find places to obtain equipment or information. 2. The Underworld Races & Classes books are not needed to play any books in the Rise of the Drow series. Players running one of these characters will have an advantage though as they are more properly suited to a life underground. 3. Most of the extra materials you are looking for are already included in Rise of the Drow. In the table of contents (main book) you'll find an entry for the dweorg god Balir and the drow god Naraneus. All the information on those deities is already contained within the core Rise of the Drow hardback. 4. If you want access to more deities, Vikmordere Valley locations, maps, races, classes, etc. simply subscribe to AdventureAWeek.com for $10 a month. You'll also get 2 free PDF downloads per month with your subscription so you can easily knock out any A-series adventures or Underworld Races & Classes you would like to obtain! Hope this helps answer any loose questions. If it doesn't please feel free to post again. I'm more than happy to help! -Jonathan G. Nelson

AAW Games has a Viking themed Pathfinder adventure Kickstarter running right now. We reached our initial funding goal 5.5 hours after launch and have spent much of the day knocking down stretch goals. To find out more, jump to the page here. Thank you for your interest! -Jonathan G. Nelson

Here's what Justin told me when I originally brought up this concern: On the Wintery vs. Wintry topic --
I did see the Grammarist page, but even there with Sarah Belliston's "it's wrong" claim, she has to admit that it's been in use a very long time. In the end, I chose Wintery because it actually contained the word "winter" and was three syllables as opposed to two.
 Thanks! -Jonathan

Yes, you heard right. AAW Games / AdventureAWeek.com has just launched a Kickstarter for a Pathfinder adventure steeped in Norse mythology. Here are the details and the LINK! INTO THE WINTRY GALE is a Pathfinder RPG Adventure for 4-6 Level 10 Characters Written by Justin Andrew Mason, staff writer for the ENnie Award winning Adventureaweek.com Blog. Having authored over a hundred articles and a dozen adventures for the AAW Blog, Justin Andrew Mason is now tackling a super-sized adventure module inspired by the viking sagas and ancient Norse mythology. The arrival of the celestial event known as the Ohjaslange heralds the return of the dreaded Jǫtunn (ice giants) to the lands of Vikmordere. The valley is engulfed by an unnatural blizzard and unending frigid gale of the likes which none living have ever seen. A dark and evil curse has reawakened, after dormant centuries, to cloak the sun and bury the land beneath frost and snow. Directed by ancient Vikmordere legend, warriors and shieldmaidens from the many clans have gathered in the village of Völsfiheimr on the shores of Serpent Lake to prepare for the upcoming battle. At stake is the very future of their people. As a horde of undying skeletal ice giants begin a long march down from a ruined mountaintop fortress, Vikmordere warriors in the valley resolve their mettle by singing lore of heroic bravery and ancient battles. Wintery war is looming, and many echo the charge of ancient omens -- the time has come to seek out the lost artifacts of the legendary Jarl Vornig – for it was he who last quelled the ice giant uprising, felling the great ice giant king whilst wielding a divine sword and magic aegis. If these powerful artifacts cannot be rediscovered, and the power therein harnessed, the Vikmordere warriors stand little chance against the onslaught of the evil Jǫtunn. Despite the gathering of great warriors, the Ancestor Spirit seems to have other plans to secure the safety of the Vikmordere people... A group of outsiders has arrived at the Great Hall of Völsfing upon the eve of battle. The strangers have been guided through the blinding blizzard by a mysterious fire-wreathed ember owl, and are unwittingly about to become epic heroes in a new saga. The Vikmordere are wary of their new guests, yet submit to the will of their ancestors and acknowledge the omen of adventurer's arrival. The barbarian clans place their hopes into the hands of these enigmatic visitors who must now prepare to venture out into the wintery gale in search of the ancient Jarl's artifacts.

wraithstrike wrote: Also did anyone get an answer on when the PC's should level up? I can probably wing it, but I would prefer not to. Levels: The PCs begin Rise of the Drow at 6th level. The PCs should be 8th or 9th level by the time they reach Embla. The PCs should be reach 10th or 11th level before entering the Fungi Forest. The PCs should reach 13th or 14th level before entering Tolgorith Tower. The PCs should be between 16th and 18th level by the time they encounter Maelora, Matron of House Gullion.

   1. LotLK simply matches the thematic setting present in Rybalka (Vikmordere/Klavek Kingdom) where the adventure begins. Honestly you could easily start the adventure anywhere as the group quickly heads underground...unless you're running the prologue in which case you'll want an area with a cold climate and no major cities within easy reach of the PCs, basically untamed wilderness- frontier village far from civilization... 2. That would be fairly easy. Grab the Underworld Races: Drow book here on Paizo or from our site at Adventureaweek.com and hand that to the PCs to get them started. If you read up on the story you could have the drow start out on the surface as part of one of the raiding groups, perhaps the group which is transformed into zombies at Krelgar Keep...they could have fled just as this was going down. Now that they're far from their home city of Holoth they've decided to become renegades and topple the current establishment. 3. For sure! We used it in our playtest and it worked great!! (UC) Apologies for any poor punctuation or grammar, I've had very little sleep the past 3 days. -Jonathan

You meant C03: Sufferhorn Castle right EZG? ;) DEMON SHEEP!

The Snow White Kickstarter launches tomorrow 7-9-2014! *TOP 10 RPG PRODUCT OF 2013 *COMPATIBLE WITH PATHFINDER RPG AND D&D 3.5 *SOLID 5-STAR REVIEWS BY TOP REVIEWERS & PUBLISHERS *A UNIQUE LIMITED EDITION TOME DESTINED FOR YOUR COLLECTION As a source of both fascination of what is "beautiful and good" as well as events viewed as "grim and forbidding", fairy tales have fascinated both the old and young over the centuries. Whether a cautionary tale about avoiding wrong-doing, the triumph of right over wrong, the worth and value of perseverance and endeavor, or any other series of extraordinary events in an unreal world, there is good reason why they are known as "wonder tales." From all of these ideas, "Snow White" is one of the very best examples, with its ebb and flow of who has the upper hand, the most cruel of villainess, the stoutest of defenders, and the wished-for happy ending, this tale offers intrigue, devious plot twists, cheer-out-loud moments, and a chance to immerse yourself in a faerie world of rich content. Here at AAW Games, we look to bring you all this and more as Aventyr experiences its very first folkloric fantasy!

Rise of the Drow is shipping this month, the Underworld Races and Underworld Classes lines are rolling out, and we're setting our sights on the next big project: the Snow White Kickstarter. We've crafted a wonderful Kickstarter to see that all of the content and art get an upgrade into a revised, premium quality hardback book! Kicking off the momentum of last year's amazingly successful crowd-funded project, the innovative reworking of the classical Hessian fairy tale is being made it into a book that no player (or GM!) will ever forget! The pool of industry celebrities and professional artists (that include Owen KC Stephens, Raven Mimura, Christina Stiles, Jen Page, Mates Laurentiu, Wolfgang Baur, and so many more!) are collaborating with co-authors Jonathan G. Nelson, Stephen Yeardley and Will Myers to expand the original adventure into a unique setting with a place in any GM or player's library! Keep your eyes peeled this month, take a look at the article about the Snow White Kickstarter on NERD TREK, Gamer XP or A Sword for Hire, and "Like" the Snow White Kickstarter Facebook page to get info on early backer rewards. The launch begins as soon as we've mailed Rise of the Drow (JUNE!) so keep up to date with this exciting project and be there on the opening day to get the best deals we can offer! Thank you for reading! See you soon!

Thank you Liz for announcing our massive new book! It's an entire Underworld setting disguised as an adventure and after two full years of development since the original ideas were cultivated, it has arrived. A special mention goes out to my core team who made this possible, these people I find to be truly remarkable individuals, people who have changed my life for the better through their passion for role-playing games- special thanks goes out to my co-author Stephen Yeardley, author and PDF developer Joshua Gullion, and hard core statistical crunching game developer/author Will Myers. These three have helped AaW since day one to forge a solid path through incredible adventures and into setting material which has garnered many 5-star reviews from EZG and other top reviewers. These fine men are my three picks for mates in my adventuring party into the Underworld for I know with them by my side we shall triumph! Of course I must also pay my respects to master cartographer and friend Todd Gamble who began this journey with me. Thank you for all your incredible art and for somehow being grounded while still floating aloft. A great many thanks to you and the Paizo staff for posting us on the front page of Paizo. We are truly grateful and appreciative. -Jonathan

Yes, it will be available in print from DriveThruRPG.com (printed through OBS via Lightning Source in B&W and full color). We may order extra copies to have some available for purchase on Adventureaweek.com and through Paizo.com I will keep you posted via this thread with an ETA (could be within 2-3 weeks if all goes as planned!)

Yes, the rumors are true! After a year of development completely revising and expanding the original Rise of the Drow trilogy, it is done. The adventures—which scored solid 5-star reviews by ENDZEITGEIST—have evolved into a single premium-quality hardback book due for gaming store shelves in June 2014. You don't have to wait that long though; the PDF is available right now on Adventureaweek.com! WHAT AWAITS YOU WITHIN RISE OF THE DROW: —Foreword by industry legend Ed Greenwood.

We're elated to announce that Rise of the Drow is on its way to the printers and PDFs will soon be in our backer's hands! Looking to the future, we've carefully weighed all the options and are in the final stages of preparing a Kickstarter guaranteed to turn heads! After receiving rave reviews and a great response from subscribers, we've decided to turn Snow White, one of Endzeitgeist's Top 10 RPG Products of 2013, into a revised, premium quality hardback book! With the experience garnered from putting together last year's amazingly successful crowd-funded project at hand, we've laid out a plan to take our innovative reworking of the classical Hessian fairy tale and make it into a book that will go down in the history of your gaming group as one of the most memorable adventures they've ever had. A pool of talented designers and illustrators that count themselves among the best in the industry (Owen KC Stephens, Raven Mimura, Christina Stiles, Jen Page, Mates Laurentiu) will be collaborating with co-authors Jonathan G. Nelson, Stephen Yeardley and Will Myers to expand the original adventure into a unique setting with a place in any GM or player's library! Thank you for reading! See you next week!

So, as third party publishers we've all had our fair share of projects which require a last minute piece of stock art or four. There's no time to wait on an artist, or the project has already gone over budget, so paying an artist to do a custom just isn't a viable option. Many times a thorough search of the internet proves fruitless making our product feel empty in places. As we have developed and released a new adventure every single week for an entire year (over 52 so far), we have found many bits of monster and character art which seem to be missing from the stock art archives available to 3PP. For example: Giant Centipedes. Never found a good piece of art to fill this hole. Our goal is NOT to become a provider or middle man of stock art (in fact the artists I'm working with are going to see 100% of their sales), but to fill the gaps wherever possible. I started a Google Doc where folks who work for 3PP can add their requests for stock art (monster or character) and the artists can fulfill them. This will help everyone involved, artists and 3PP alike. If you would like me to share this document with you please reply to this thread and/or email me at jonathan (at) adventureaweek.com Thanks!

I hold an enduring faith in ENDZEITGEIST. His duties as a reviewer, reading products from a wide array of publishers gives him a special insight into game development. I have also been quite impressed with his ability to compose very well written articles in English, despite the fact that his primary language is German (he lives in Deutschland). Having obtained a rare glimpse into what END has been writing about the vidre (race of crystalline beings) for Rise of the Drow, I can honestly say that he is going to blow your minds. ;) We've already passed the first stretch goal and added HERO LAB files! We are now rapidly approaching adding ENDZEITGEIST's section to the book. Help make this happen and pledge now! If you've already pledged than do your part and bombard your friends with encouragement to support an amazing project filled with incredible guest authors! :D

We're happy to have you! It should be a very exciting experience, especially for the five finalists! The RISE OF THE DROW Kickstarter launches soon, and two of the five finalists will be chosen to assist in developing new sections of this massive mega-adventure being published in print and PDF, and distributed world-wide! That's just the tip of the iceberg, other prizes include 3 free months of Adventure-A-Week, the chance to have an entire adventure path published, and a bunch of other goodies! :D Should be a good time for all involved! Good luck!

Here’s a status update from Joshua’s friend and roommate Mark Orsted: Mark Orsted Update: Spoke with Josh a few times yesterday. They have diagnosed that he had two strokes. One about a week ago, and one yesterday morning around 6a while he slept, which was the one that partially debilitated him. He’s in good spirits, obviously dismayed that his writing skills are currently “non-existent”, but glad that he’s all good beyond that. He’ll get signed up for some therapy and hopefully be able to re-learn the skill he is missing. He is due back today, but maybe tomorrow depending on how things went overnight.

Ktfish7 aka Joshua Gullion suffered a stroke this morning. He is in Room 720A at Provena Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. He cannot access any accounts nor use a computer at all at this time. Please contact the hospital directly in order to reach Josh at (217) 337-2000 and ask for room 720A. Anyone corresponding with Joshua or waiting on reviews may not receive a response for quite some time. Our positive thoughts and prayers are with our friend Joshua Gullion. Please take a moment to send yours as well.
