Paizo, Pathfinder, and Starfinder Logos over-layed over images of the different iconics

Paizo is pleased to announce it has voluntarily recognized the United Paizo Workers union, which is affiliated with the Communications Workers of America (CWA).

“We look forward to working with the union to continue and expand our efforts to make Paizo a better place to work and to ensure that Pathfinder and Starfinder products continue to exceed gamer expectations for many years to come,” said Jeff Alvarez, President of Paizo.

The next steps will involve the United Paizo Workers (UPW) union electing their bargaining representatives and then meeting with Paizo management to negotiate terms for a collective bargaining agreement. We expect this process to take some time, but we are committed to the effort and hope to settle a contract in due course. Until an agreement is reached, the Paizo staff continues to focus on creating amazing Pathfinder and Starfinder products.

Paizo has always been about creating awesome games, and we look forward to the changes that unionization will bring to the company. Please join us on this journey by following the UPW on Twitter and stay tuned for future updates!

I really like the UPW motto "Don't split the party"

At this point, the party feels pretty split to me.

Paizo Recognizes United Paizo Workers, that's a good thing.

This thread is getting hard to follow. Is there someone at Paizo that thinks the union is not doing enough to protect them, and is that person asking for our help, if so what help would they like?

or is there something else I missed

I stopped coming to the threads and reading every post because of this.

My goal is not to split the party.

I am still waiting for the people at the top to come back and discuss what is happening regarding the original issues that started this fire in the first place.

Dismissing Sara Marie. Diego Quitting in Solidarity and the lack of faith in leadership that got us here in the first place. Personally that is the transphobic policies and the doxxing of customers.

I don't think you missed anything. I think this thread is and should be for the support of the Paizo Union. It is great the Paizo is recognizing the union voluntarily!

That however shouldn't be allowed to become a distraction from the issues that forced their hand to unionize in the first place. Untenable work environments fostered and created by the leadership.

So anyway let's say this Union doesn't fall apart from infighting or whichever. Would I have to become a member of this Union to even freelance for them?

Freelancers/contract employees likely aren't covered by the union. Again: US labor protections are trash. However, union negotiations might include protections that just happen to also apply to freelancers due to how organizational changes affect everyone.

No I meant would I have to join them or am I going to be stone walled from being hired?

No, freelancers are entirely different, and actually not allowed to unionize under federal law. They also aren't a closed shop union, meaning that they won't require union membership.

Is that the only thing holding you back? or are you just trying to raise theoretical arguments against a union because there are no actual valid arguments against a union?

Everything is bad faith to you all. I raise a question, get it answered, and you go nuts about the question being asked.

I have removed quite a few posts that are little more than bickering and since this thread doesn't seem to be able to get back on topic, or have any positive dialogue at this point, I'm going to keep it closed.
