PaizoCon 2020

Tuesday, December 3, 2019

Join us for our annual celebration of all things Paizo! Badges are on sale now.

From May 22-25th, 2020, at the SeaTac Doubletree by Hilton, Paizo will host hundreds of panels, workshops, and of course, games for our Paizo community. Our goal for PaizoCon is to provide a laid-back and relaxed convention experience where fans can meet up and enjoy a weekend of gaming and related activities with each other as well as our employees. A number of our business partners, Pathfinder or Starfinder compatible publishers, artists, authors, and other folks from our gaming community also attend, providing a unique opportunity to meet the minds that make and support the games we publish.

Saturday May 23rd, 2020, we will have our PaizoCon Preview Banquet where we will show off the exciting, and sometimes unannounced, new books and content we’re cooking up!

For PaizoCon 2020, we are thrilled to be joined by Guests of Honor Kate Baker and Damien Mammoliti!

Kate Baker has written dozens of projects for Paizo, working on both Pathfinder and Starfinder products, but is most notorious for writing Starfinder Society Scenario #1-08: Sanctuary of Drowned Delight, featuring the colorful space walruses, the morlamaws. She first began writing for tabletop RPGs four years ago and is an active member and administrator at Freelance Forge, a community for RPG freelancers, where she loves answering questions from new writers. She is particularly excited about her two adventure path volumes: Starfinder Adventure Path #22: The Forever Reliquary and Pathfinder Adventure Path #154: Siege of the Dinosaurs. Kate is an avid Organized Play participant and she serves as a Venture-Agent.

Damien Mammoliti is a freelance artist working on tabletop RPG and Paizo products since 2009. He's appeared in many games, books, and board games since then, earning him a Silver ENnie for his cartography work in Starfinder Pact Worlds. He serves as the principal cartographer for Starfinder, creating battle, world, and terrain maps, as well as an illustrator for Pathfinder's world maps, monsters, and characters. With over a decade of experience in the TTRPG field, and even more playing in it, Damien strives for lively, realistic worlds and terrains that spark imaginations for players across the world.

We hope to see you at PaizoCon 2020!

Email notices have been sent out to all volunteers who submitted a questionnaire. Please verify the availability included in the email. Due to some technical issues it is possible that some of the volunteer's availability preferences were not recorded correctly.

We are still working out the details and deadlines for various tasks associated with organizing the event. We will share more information as it becomes available.

We still have vacancies for more volunteers.

I am leaning heavily on attending again... I need to get through Christmas first. I had a ball the last two years!

I don't really do organized play, but I might try to get into an SFS game or two. (My one SFS character has thus far been in exactly two games: one each at PaizoCon 2018 & 2019.)

Assuming I make it out there, I'm planning to run some non-Paizo RPGs. Games I'm considering include: Zombie World, Monster of the Week, Impulse Drive, Fate: Masters of Umdaar, Spirit of '77, For the Queen, Ten Candles, Girl Underground, Troika!, and The Quiet Year.

Let me know if any of those appeal!

Tickets bought, and I submitted to run three games:

Zombie World
Trophy Dark: The Forest of Blades

Escape from Dino Island

I'm planning to be there a day early and stay a day late, and will be available to play/run other stuff too!!

Update:

Vacation Request: Pending (In log by seniority)
Flight from Midwest: Pending
Accommodation: Reserved @ Tower, Doubletree. Arriving Wednesday, departing Tuesday
'REAL' ID: Pending
Tickets and Banquet: Ticket to convention complete, Banquet n/a
Registering GM Blocks: Complete, waiting to hear back on correction sent in availability

As far as I understand, "Real" ID is not required to board flights until October 2020 . Though I am thinking of upgrading/going through that process before paizocon as well just in case.

For me there's three pretty much guaranteed round trips I'll be making before October, and they're spaced evenly enough apart that trying to get it in between them is going to be problematic at best.

This is supposed to be the first time my wife and I are going to Paizocon, travelling from the Detroit area. We booked our hotel and flight back in December. With the Coronavirus issues in the Seattle area, and discussions about limiting travel and large gatherings, are there discussions taking place about delaying or cancelling the con? Is there information Paizo can share with us about the status of such discussions?

We still plan to come to the con, but if there is going to be a cancellation or delay, more time to make changes to arrangements would be preferred.

At this time there are no plans to delay or cancel the con. It is hoped that the CDC can get a handle on this issue long before PaizoCon in the later half of May. However, Paizo has been taking some actions to protect their staff in the short term. All official travel has been cancelled and senior staff such as Sara Marie are closely following the daily reports so that they can properly respond to the current trending. If PaizoCon was in March, I can almost guarantee we would see a delay or cancellation. If we are still talking about this as an outbreak in May, PaizoCon will probably be the least of our worries. I would encourage all attendees to make the best decision for themselves even if that means choosing not to attend. However, we are hopeful that things will return to normalcy by then and we can all gather to celebrate Paizo and their awesome products.

by no means am I an official voice for Paizo Publishing. I am just speaking as an organizer for OPF events at PaizoCon and in that capacity, we have not deviated from our normal planning

Thanks for the update, Bob!

Hey Lee, I'm right there with you. Got a chance to attend for the first time and I grabbed it! Really excited, but at the same time, we're definitely keeping an eye on how things go.

I am likewise hyped for the convention, with hotel room, flight booked.

Even if the convention does *not* happen, it'll be a week in Seattle because non-refundable and hey, the area really is beautiful.

Given a choice of that or working on one of the busiest beer-shoving holidays in the store's liquor department? SOLD!
