Creepy, Crawlie, Terror Birdie

We're getting closer and closer to the June release of the Dungeons Deep set of Pathfinder Battles prepainted plastic miniatures, and I couldn't be more excited! This set focuses (for the most part) on the nasty critters that live in dungeons and the people that kill them. That means demons and adventurers and oozes and such, but it also means some horrible denizens of the animal and insect kingdoms, as well. This week we reveal photos of three such menaces from the set.

Up first is the Mining Beetle, the slightly more powerful cousin of the Fire Beetle, from page 33 of the Pathfinder RPG Bestiary. Beetles tend to get overlooked in minis, but they're a great low-level dungeon monster, so I wanted to make sure to include at least one in this set. The Mining Beetle is a Small, common figure.

But beetles aren't the only creepy-crawlies to be found in dungeons. Here we have a Giant Centipede. Hint: He isn't reaching out to hug your player characters. The Giant Centipede is a Medium, common figure.

And here's a back view to show off a few more details.

Last up today is one of my favorites from the set, the Terror Bird. This feathered fiend was originally going to appear in the Reign of Winter set ages ago, but got bounced to Dungeons Deep when we had to cut a few minis from that set. We're happy to have him. The Terror Bird is a Large, uncommon figure.

And that's it for this week. Next week I'll reveal two brand new figures from the set I don't believe anyone has seen outside the office, so be sure to come back in seven days!

3 for 3. Love that centipede, the detail is great, pose actually has a. Bit of menace, colour is spot on. Looks like I might be replacing my old ones.

I like the beetle partly because a small beetle is long overdue, but also because I can sub for a tick. Since both are common I stand to get quite a few from a case.

Terror Bird is very cool and the second monster involved in a guessing contest on another site that got bumped from reign of winter. Dang I actually did well in that contest till the set was shortened. The bird is nice, little reminiscent of an old mageknigt bird I have a few of. Got those to proxy for this, now I can use the real deal.

Now that's the third of the iconics sets is about to be released, any work of the future of the line? Have wizkids talked about sales?

I agree, it is a nice looking figure. Wish they could have figured out how to do it without the peg though.

There will be a lot of happy PFS players to see that AxebeakTerror Bird mini.

Like the bird.

By the way, any work on Iconic Set #4? Is it on schedule? What minis are in it?

Is that something a developer should be saying?

They need to do a special edition Yellow/Gold Chocobo...I mean Terror Bird...

Yes beetles also get overlooked in artwork... really hope that SLICER BEETLES get some love soon, and some artwork.

That's the cutest little beetle. Now I'm imagining the intrepid adventures of Mining Beetle and Centipede! :D

When the Mining Beetle comes home from the work in the mines the Centipede has just bought new shoes... ;-)

I want to get a Terror Bird, if only for the show of having my Tengu cavalier ride his true mount in a PFS game.

Yay, Chocobos, NUTS, I mean Axebeaks, CRAP, I mean CACKLE BIRDS...G~$ D#+MIT!

As there are only 2 normal (medium) figures, 1 Dungeon Dressing and the
2 replacement figures for Feya and King Irovetti to be revealed i´m very excited to see these two.

As the Dungeons Deep set will be out on june 24th or earlier i would like to suggest a few things to show:

- a group photo of all 5 Dungeon dressing pieces
with an explanation of what they will replace inside a booster
(a small or medium mini or a large one in the case of the "Sarkophagus with Mummy" or "Iron Maiden").

- a picture of the Gargantuan Red Dragon sandwiched by the Gargantuan Blue Dragon and Gargantuan Green Dragon.

- a picture of the 2 replacement minis in comparison to their original incarnations.

- a group shot of the 4 gnolls ready to do battle for Lamashtu and Rovagug!

Make it happen Eric! ;-)

Hmmm...I wonder...can Paizo do Cackle Birds? I think they were featured in the Tome of Horrors right? I wouldn't mind seeing them in a new Bestiary, Adventure Path, or Module. ^_^

Hi Erik,

Suddenly I'm afraid following this fall releases announcement...
what about the iconics?

Please tell me it's a mistake...

Could simply be because the iconics sets are made by wizkids not paizo. I think I've encountered a similar thing before.

I also recall seeing a staff post somewhere that said the blog didn't contain everything to be released in that timeframe. ^_^

Thank you all. As usual we are in vacations these days in France, and as usual during vacations I only have half my neurones working...
