Khaz Cloudbreaker |
Khaz, paladin and Cloudbreaker Clansmen, reporting in.
Aerleth |
Harm's way here checking in with Reyr...kinda. The more I looked at the name I had for this character the less fond of it I became, plus it kinda didn't make sense within the bounds of his backstory to have a first and last name. I've changes it to Karkaras, and included a note in his alias to explain how he came by it.
@DM Raltus, I don't know if you saw the changes I made to my character's skills as well (I swapped heal for a rank in linguistics so that I could take the Abyssal language; made sense to me that a demonslayer ought to be able to speak the language of his enemies). Let me know if the changes don't sit well with you and I'll replace them to what they were.
Looking forward to getting this underway, I'm more than a little excited to be playing Wrath instead of GMing for once!
Khaz Cloudbreaker |
So...a small issue to work out now.
Khaz has the oath of the crusade. Which I felt was appropriate for this campaign. Meaning...
“A paladin who takes an oath against demons, devils, daemons, and other evil outsiders is constantly on the lookout for malicious fiendish insurgence into the world, and faces it with swift and unwavering defiance. Often he works closely with inquisitors, searching for signs of outsider manipulation and possession.”
Lorena is in the party. Her entire schtick is outsider (demon lord) manipulation and possession.
That’s...an issue. How should we deal with it? Should I drop the oath for party cohesion?
Lorena. |
Thanks for picking me!
Yeah, seems like Lorena has a lot of salesmanship ahead of her just to survive meeting 1/3 of the party.
welp...the first time I tried this character, the party didn't have a single LG character, let alone a paladin. Let's just say...this complicates things a bit. Should be fun :D
Khaz Cloudbreaker |
I’ll drop the oath of the crusade. I don’t want to have to choose between PvP and losing class abilities.
Aerleth |
Karkaras will probably be suspicious of Lorena at first, and I guess he may come across as a little aggressive but I don't believe in PVP as a first solution. He's open minded enough to give her a chance to prove herself*, but I think he'd have a hard time if he discovered that she was an agent of Nocticula... I guess we'll just have to play this out and see what happens! Exciting times ahead!
**I doubt she's the only tiefling in Kenabres, and anyone who's been in the city for a while has probably seen a few around.
Lorena. |
Thanks for being accommodating - and sorry that you have to be in the first place! FWIW, Lorena doesn't know any demons (by name or otherwise) yet, though that'll obviously change later. I don't know exactly how she'd react to the news either yet, it'll be dependent on party relationships and such, I'd guess.
Khaz Cloudbreaker |
I was thinking...Dwarven Slow and Steady is -1 race point. 20ft base movement, never modified by armor or encumbrance. Khaz is a Dwarven Aasimar who wears heavy armor, so his movement will usually be 20ft anyways. Can he just have the Dwarven Slow and Steady rule? It feels more Dwarven to always be at that slow speed.
If not, no worries. He’ll usually be in armor anyways, so it won’t make that much of a difference.
Khaz Cloudbreaker |
Thank you. :)
Quite happy with how it all turned out, feels very much like how a Dwarven Aasimar should be.
Look forward to gaming with you all
Firinn |
Thanks for picking me!

Firinn is going to be on her side at least. :) He's all about redemption and not judging people straight off. So Dwarf and Demonslayer vs the Outsiders! We're never going to get out of the tunnels!
Khaz Cloudbreaker |
Don’t say that...my last group died out at the end of the tunnels. I really want to know what happens next...
Aerleth |
I know this seems flighty of me, but I underwent a final name change for my character. Reading the posts above, we already have a Carson and a Khaz, another name beginning with the same sound was doing my head in. I went with something a little more elvish, and I've made my 10th post now so no more changes haha :P
Lorena. |
Didn't notice it was up, sorry. Feedly (RSS feed reader) has issues with Paizo sometimes, I'll try to check the forum itself more.
Terry the thief |
Wow. Posted before going to bed last night. Stayed a little late at work and you guys have been quite prolific. Group is off at a fairly frantic pace. Post incoming, finally.
WANT to be in charge of a loot sheet? Not especially. Willing? Sure.
DM Raltus |
These palm-sized silver dragon scales are
unique items—essentially minor artifacts
resulting from Terendelev’s death on the
Storm King’s blade.
Each of Terendelev’s scales grants a
different power to the person who carries them. The powers
granted do not function at all if more than one scale is carried.
The powers of the four scales are listed below—any nonevil
creature that handles a scale immediately understands its use.
Cloudwalking: Three times per day as a standard action,
a scale can be used to cast levitate. A pillar of roiling clouds
rises below the levitating object or creature, growing and
shrinking with the target’s altitude. This pillar is 5 feet in
diameter (regardless of the target’s size) and provides
concealment (20% miss chance) to any creature or object
wholly contained within.
Disguise: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale
can be used to cast alter self. While disguised, the target gains
a +4 bonus on all Bluff checks made against evil creatures.
Resistance: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale
can be used to cast resist elements—but only against electricity
or cold.
Sacred Weaponry: Three times per day as a standard action,
a scale can be used to cast align weapon, but only to make a
weapon lawful or good. Unlike a normal align weapon spell,
this effect can be cast on an unarmed strike or natural weapon.
Khaz Cloudbreaker |
Looking at them...
Scale 1: An elevator if you levitate an object for us to stand on. Also good for a ranged combat user to stand in for conceilment.
Scale 2: Alter self? +2 Str Or +2 Dex and darkvision. Pretty useful to have.
Scale 3: DR 10. I’ve got enough Energy Resistance already, but this would be great for a human.
Scale 4: Anti-demon if I ever saw one.
Who wants what?
Lorena. |
Walls of rubble, spider corpses, dragon scales...the first time I played this, the GM described the first cave as completely featureless except for an exit. What a lazy guy. No wonder we didn't make it out of the second cave.
Anyways. Lorena would prefer the disguise scale for obvious reasons, but if someone needs it (i.e. for darkvision) feel free to take it first.
Khaz Cloudbreaker |
So that's Alter Self for Lorena and Align Weapon for Firinn.
Cloudwalking should go to Aereth, I think. He can get concealment for himself if he gets into any ranged duels. And it's levitate for the entire party, as by the wording of the spell we can make it into an elevator for us.
The energy resistance should go to someone without energy resistance of their own. I'm thinking Carson or Terry. Probably Terry...as he'll be in close combat more and thus is more likely to take damage.
-----------
Also, for anyone who does close combat and is looking to overcome DR, I found this:
urban bloodrager at lvl 3 with celestial bloodline.
So, for 4+con rounds per day, as a free action, would get...
+4 Strength or +4 Dexterity and Angelic Attacks (At 1st level, your melee attacks are considered good-aligned weapons for the purpose of bypassing damage reduction. Furthermore, when you deal damage with a melee attack to an evil outsider, you deal an additional 1d6 points of damage. This additional damage stacks with effects such as align weapon and those granted by a weapon with the holy weapon special ability.)
I don't think it is worth it for me to take it (at lvl 5 I can add "holy" to my weapon and I have a handful of uses of smite evil) but I'm throwing it out there.
Aerleth |
Sounds good to me Khaz, we can share the portable elevator :)
That's a cool multiclassing idea, I think I'm going to stick straight Demonslayer for Aerleth though. He already gets so many cool feature which are really thematic for this campaign.
Carson Whitaker |
I was thinking of putting in for the levitate item. I need to be reasonably close in combat for my Spears to be effective. And I'm extremely squishy.
I can wait until the next round of items for things though, I'm just gonna need some major body guarding.
Aerleth |
If you want it Carson, go for it. Truthfully Aerleth is probably more comfortable up close in any kind of combat, and he can still benefit from the concealment if you're using the item and he needs cover.
Terry the thief |
Player's not really worried about it.
Once Terry knows there's a reason to care, he'll want "his share."
He's designed as a primarily ranged combatant, though Unchained Rogue gives him Weapon Finesse for free, so many of the same logic applies to Terry as Firinn, though Terry doesn't have any inherent resistances, agreed.
Khaz Cloudbreaker |
Quick question, did anyone else opt for the 20 point buy?
Lorena. |
I took the 25 because she'd been built as such before and I didn't feel like changing it. So laziness in exchange for lower HP growth, I guess.
DM Raltus |
Items:
Masterwork Backpack
contains 10 days of trail rations
a flint and steel
a set of caltrops
two flasks of oil
a bundle of 12 arrows
a potion of cure light wounds
a potion of lesser restoration
Just as an aside that I forgot at the start, Aniva has 4 hp and Aravashnial has 2
I am not telling you to heal them now but Khaz would have figured that out.
DM Raltus |
Since Firinn was affected by the disease, Filth Fever I will post in a spoiler what the new disease track does. Anyone can read this.
Physical Disease Track
Healthy—Latent/Carrier—Weakened—Impaired— Disabled—Bedridden—Comatose—Dead
Latent/Carrier: A character in this stage has the disease,
and may pass it on if contagious, but suffers no ill effects.
Weakened: A character weakened by a physical disease
suffers all the effects of the sickened and fatigued conditions.
Impaired: A character impaired by a physical disease also
suffers the effects of the exhausted condition. Whenever he
takes a standard action, he must succeed at a Fortitude save at
the same DC as the disease’s DC or lose the action and gain
the nauseated condition for 1 minute.
Disabled: A character disabled by a physical disease gains
the disabled condition. If he takes a standard action, his
hit points drop by 1 or to –1, whichever is worse.
Bedridden: A character rendered bedridden by a physical
disease is awake and can converse, but he can’t stand on his
own or take any standard or move actions.
Comatose: A character rendered comatose by physical disease
is unconscious and feverish. He can’t be woken by any means
as long as he remains in this state on the disease track.
Dead: The disease overcomes the body’s immune system, and
the character dies. The corpse may be still be contagious, and
some diseases may have unusual effects after the character dies.
So you have to make 2 saves to be cured, if you fail you move down the track, if you make the first save you stay where you are, after the second save if you pass you are cured.
