Bannakaffalatta heads to a terminal to see what the shuttle might have been carrying.
Computer T: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Does the computer check have anything to do with what's behind the spoiler? If yes, go ahead and open it

Computers check is not related to what is in the spoiler.
Bannakaffalatta finds out through the systems that the shuttle originated on the planet Aucturn.
Remaining skills to try: DC 15 Piloting; DC 16 Society or fluent in Aklo.
Merasmos the Magician
|
"Wait, wait mmmmortals! You are mmmmessing with things beyond your comprehension!" Merasmos ominiously warns...only to realise that they've mostly figured out the mystery. Only words written in Aklo, a mysterious dark fluid and something that required the knowledge of a wizard who's steeped in societal knowledge!...That was accurate in another timeline, anyways.
"I don't understand Aklo, apologies. Wasn't something I picked up in Space Wizard School all those years ago."
Mmmmedicine DC 16 to Recall Knowledge: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Merasmos has Dubious Knowledge so feel free to tell him something true and something completely false. Have not opened up the spoiler.
Society DC 16: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Merasmos stares blankly into the void of space as the party speculates on the state of the station. The world falls apart...melting into an endless expanse of white on which words appear out of nowhere around him. He sees...he sees the underlying mechanisms of the world they exist in. He sees a universe where a single roll of the die can manipulate success or failure. He sees a writer typing at their keyboard and the words which appears on the screen as they type...he thinks that is exactly the information he needs.
Kunris
|
"Maybe it's a grenade or something?" Kunris suggests, thinking back to his days before he went legit, and whether he ever smuggled anything like this.
Piracy Lore: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Nah, not a pirate thing that he can recall.
| GM Frost |
Bannakaffalatta knows that the shuttle is not intended for extended travel. It’s occupants likely need to dock frequently at another starship or space station to survive.
Merasmos recalls that the black liquid might be crude oil as the ship's alternative fuel in case of emergency, or ichor found on the former planet of Aucturn that when ingested, it acts as an addictive hallucinogen and provides no nutritional value.
Merasmos may not know Aklo, but the writing seems familiar to himand confirms that all texts inside the ship are Aklo.
Discarded under one of the shuttle chairs, they find two jump spell amps.
The Starfinders can exit the shuttle directly into Dreamlink Labs, crawling through debris and a maintenance shaft before emerging through a floor panel into an area inside.
Kunris
|
Kunris says, "Anyone mind if I keep one of these spell amps?" Assuming not, he puts it in an easily accessible strap on his equipment belt.
He shrugs and begins moving quietly through the hole. "Okay, let's see what we're walking into ..."
Merasmos the Magician
|
"Sure, sure, keep it. I don't have the hands to use it, anyways." Merasmos waves away the opportunity dismissively.
He follows behind Kunris and Bannakaffalatta into the hole. "Uhm, technically we aren't walking here, we are crawling."
| Chk Chk agent of SFS2 |
"Anyone else want the last jump spell amp? If not, I'll carry it so we have it if needed."
Chk Chk turns to Merasmos.
"You think the ichor might be Aucturn? That planet hatching is like creepy cool in so many ways."
Chk Chk follows Kunris, with their painglave ready, and has a look around the new area.

A2. Extraction Lab
The Starfinder exits the shuttle and crawls directly into the ship. Dreamlink Labs holds no signs of life, but many signs of turmoil. An automated warning plays on repeat,
///A level one security alert has been triggered. For your safety, please proceed to the evacuation shuttles on the lowest level.///
Judging by the damaged walls and blood-splattered floor, this warning came too late…
The station has normal atmosphere, standard gravity, and is currently illuminated with dim emergency lighting.
This long laboratory is dimly illuminated by red lights flashing on some material analysis instruments lining the wall. Blood streaks the floor, pooling below the corpse of a lashunta scientist.
Reinforced storage canisters of varying sizes fill the lab.
However, one of the functioning material analysis instruments holds a two-inch long, diamond-shaped shard of purple crystalline material. A handwritten note taped to the control panel reads
“Please return shards after you exit the dreamscape!”
One is knocked over, and a blue-purple gas seeps from a crack in its glass.
Kunris
|
Kunris turns his immediate attention to the corpse, saying to the group, "Good news, I guess, is that this isn't our contact, Arta." Doesn't look like we were given Arta's species, but we were told that Arta was female.
He takes a position near the door, vigilant for any approaching danger. "You check out those canisters ... but watch out for that gas. It doesn't look safe. Anyone have a chemalyzer?"
Kunris
|
Kunris considers for a moment, and then begins performing a scan of the corpse. He looks to see if the scientist has an access badge or anything that may get them into other portions of the facility.
I am programming this into my holoskin, so that I can Impersonate this scientist. I don't care about too much detail - just a basic lashunta male in a labcoat will work - so it shouldn't take a full 10 minutes to set up. Potentially want the attackers to think I'm from the facility, not trick anyone who works with him or knew him well.
| Chk Chk agent of SFS2 |
Chk Chk investigates an intact container, staying away from the leaking gas from the other container.
"These look empty."
Chk Chk picks up one of the material analysis instruments.
"This instrument shows their work cycle was disrupted partway through, and the material inside was removed. Whatever caused all the death and destruction we've seen so far would certainly cause an interruption."
Next, Chk Chk finds an instrument still holding something.
"Look here, this one has a diamond-shaped shard of purple crystalline material, and look, it's got a handwritten note taped to it."
Chk Chk reads the note.
“Please return shards after you exit the dreamscape!”
Chk Chk looks at the back side of the note.
"That's disappointing, it doesn't say how to get into the dreamscape."
Merasmos the Magician
|
Merasmos wanders over to the knocked over canister.
"How interesting! Maybe if its empty I can use it to store the black substance and take it back safely." He remarks as he pokes the canister with the butt of his breacher.
He gets a whiff of the blue-purple gas.
"Ugh! What's this?" He cries out in alarm.
Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
| GM Frost |
Kunris, kindly remind me what you did here might come up useful for later.
Thankfully for Meramos, the gas does not have negative effects on him.
With nothing to investigate in this area, the team finds an exit to another room nearby. It looks like a storage room that has been thoroughly ransacked, with only mundane supplies remaining.
Everyone is currently between A2 and A3 on the Map. Let me know where you would like to proceed next: A1, A4, A5, A7, or A9.

Kunris
|
Kunris activates his holoskin, appearing to be a lashunta scientist. I also checked the body for an access badge/kaycard/etc. "I will take point so if someone sees me they won't realize there is a new group of people on the station."
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Kunris searches the room and lays out a commercial medkit, spray flesh, and cellular stimulant spell amp. "Anyone want these?"
Kunris pulls a smoke bomb into one hand and his shooting starknife into the other, holding each casually enough not to be obvious.
| GM Frost |
Anyone who haven't rolled can still do so, but I'll move everyone to the next area of interest.
Upon entering another room, they find that this room is a mess—equipment is knocked over and smashed, cupboards emptied, materials scattered on the floor, and crates ripped open and rummaged through. The corpses of two shirrens lay dead on the ground, improvised weapons close at hand. They see an insectile creature searching something, together with large mites that are doing the same. When they see the Starfinders, they hiss and attack!

After defeating these enemies, they search around and find two sacks filled with aucturnite and other stolen goods, and two vials of dreamlink serum.

Kunris nods, checking that his lashunta disguise holoskin is still intact. "Definitely don't get the impression that these guys were part of the scientific team ..." "Hmmm. Hold on the serum first. Could be dangerous..."

| GM Frost |
Merasmos identifies the serum that has a glossy purple syrup swirled with streaks of black and green. He knows that after drinking this serum, it "Let your mind drift and latch onto psychic impressions from the Newborn, and be granted with esoteric knowledge and alien wisdom at the expense of your current awareness". Well, it is actually noted as a very small print on the serum's label. After drinking the serum, you gain a +2 item bonus to Occultism and Religion checks for 10 minutes. Indeed, there is an entrance that connects to another room. Eight workspaces, each equipped with a computer, take up most of the space in this room. The desks hold items including family photos, sealed beakers with neon liquids, and a tardigrade plushie.

"Always read the small print, people. This innocuous black drink is actually a mmmmmmind-altering substance that directly links you up with an eldritch God!" Merasmos warns the others dramatically. "I think I'll keep it." He pockets one vial and hands the second to his fellow Witchwarper.
He beelines to the computers, clicking around and reading the logs on the computer.
Reading the hallucination report, he stops for a second, does a double take and reads through it. Thoughts race through his mind. 'When did this happen? How? I don't remember mmmmmeeting someone like that before. Did this happen in this timeline, or another?' He stares blankly and unmoving at the screen, trying to process the cosmic impossibility that he just read about.
Kunris
|
Kunris points at a small refrigeration chamber under one of the desks. "I don't want to open this in case it'll contaminate something, but looks like this contains an aucturnite sample." We were bringing her an aucturnite sample, weren't we? "Looks like the looters hadn't gotten this far."
He glances over at Merasmos and says, "It doesn't say that..." He peeks over his shoulder. "Oh, so it does..."

From a small room south of where they are, a female skittermander that is in shaken condition crawls out.
