The main part of the theater is decorated with dark wood that makes the painted red roses carved in it stand out. The rows of seats are a little worn from use but are made of the same dark wood. Roses of different colors mark the sections. The stage is set up with an elegantly painted backdrop that looks like that of a Chelaxian ballroom. Wooden folding chairs arranged in the small pit before the stage await the live orchestra that will accompany the play, and small sets of stairs flank each side of the stage.
Because of your success earlier, you can place yourselves as you want in the room and take one round of actions before the action begins. The square around A3 is a trap door that looks about to burst open.
| The Carnelian Signet |
The Carnelian Signet grins as she approaches the trap door. She draws her longsword and does a quick spin, releasing a flurry of flame about her. "Looks like the show will begin whether we are ready or not."

Investigation complete - 24 successes. This results in the team getting five Predictive Points; they are quite familiar with the means that these fey are using to disrupt the performances. Each Predictive Point will allow one reroll a check during the remainder of the adventure. This pool is shared by the party and Predictive Points cannot be used for the same roll as another fortune effect (such as a Hero Point).
The night of the show is upon the Dacilane students and Pathfinder stand-ins. No fey pranks have occurred yet, and the audience, mainly the eager families of the performers who wait to see the students’ final show, is already in their seats. While the crowd waits for the curtain to rise, the orchestra entertains them with a lively warm-up session. Backstage, the crew bustles, setting up the set changes for the play while the actors take their spots.
The Muse of the Rose bustles with life, the audience waiting in anticipation for the play to go on. The orchestra plays the opening notes as magical lights in the theater darken. The curtains rise, and nervous students begin their performance.
For the next challenge, the Pathfinders must work to ensure the plays go on without a hitch. They can choose to be Onstage, which generally requires that they use Charisma- or Dexterity-based skills like Acrobatics or Performance. Alternatively, they can choose to be Backstage, which requires the use of Intelligence- or Strength-based skills. They can switch between acts as needed, but at least one agent should be Onstage and one Backstage at all times. If they’re Onstage, they don’t need to know lines. The students are very good at improv and do their best to “yes, and” whatever the PCs say.
I will begin the challenge once everybody has indicated what their starting position will be.

Welby and Ho'okepa head backstage to head off any problems out of sight of the audience.
Backstage, the crew hustles and bustles as they move things into place for upcoming scene changes. All is in an organized chaos as actors ready themselves to go on. Everything appears to be going smoothly when Geltra sighs in exasperation. Her tone mildly panicked, she asks, “Has anyone seen my costume? It was right here, and I’m in the next scene!”
Backstage characters can attempt to replace the costume with DC 13 Crafting (sew a new costume), DC 15 Society (describing matching fabrics) or DC 17 Athletics (ripping apart other pieces) or Perception (locating a good substitute).
Onstage characters can attempt to delay Geltra's entrance until she is ready with DC 13 Deception (create a diversion), DC 15 Performance (perform) or DC 17 Acrobatics (draw attention to yourself).
For this challenge, each character makes checks until they have three successes or three failures. Criticals in either direction count double. Your overall success depends on how many PCs get to three successes before three failures.
