"Where can we find this Nessian Yargos? It sounds like time is of the essence!"

Rusty spends the bit of narration going on drying themself off. Wringing out pants, shirts, cloaks, the whole deal. They comment to no one in particular, ”Waterproof or resistant clothing is going to be my next purchase.”

After the other comments they add, ”Or if too late, should we try to stop the undead agents carrying out their sabotage missions first?”

"I don't know what's worse, wearing boots or wearing sandals. Or maybe it doesn't matter as my feet will be soaked in sea water anyway......"

"..........." Yukari dries her clothes and boots. She regret not purchasing a casting of Waterproof before leaving the Grand Lodge, and now that a hidden undead invasion is at bay, she probably don't have time to do so now.

"Is there a code for the operation Silent Tide to call off the invasion? That might stop the undeads." she asks as she dries her hair.

"I suppose we have to find Nessian and destroy the code book before he can use it."

"I second that. I hope it's flammable... the book, to be precise." Brat has a weird grin on her face.

They think out loud, ”An information broker? Interesting idea. I was hoping for something more concrete. Did you not even look over the plans?”

Interesting question. I would say yes, unless any of you is an Absalom native with connections to the city's underworld, in which case they can try a Knowledge (local) check, but the DC would be pretty high.

Yagros offers you to guide you to Grandmaster Torch's office, but as soon as you leave Torsen's Maw you notice a red light flashing in a distinctive pattern from the top of a distant building, deep in the city.

Nessian! He’s signaling Black Echelon—the undead! Six flashes of red—I remember that signal... By the gods! That’s the granary! Nessian has sent those monsters to poison the granary! C’mon! I don’t know how, but we’ve got to stop them—we’re the only ones who know what’s happening.

Black Echelon intends to lace the city’s reserve grain supply with a foul and forgotten poison called Gut Wither. In the event of a siege, Absalom would be left without its granary and the city could face the threat of mass starvation in the coming months! We have to go check the granary!

As you approach the city, you find an eerie cold fog has suddenly descended on the adjoining streets and alley ways.

When you arrive at the massive granary, you find the three guards posted to protect the food depot are already dead.

Marius sniffs the air carefully, moving around a little as he does, then looks at ground with CeCe.

The heavy rain makes it impossible to read the tracks outside the granary, and the air is filled with the smell of dampness and grain.

Rusty replies to the offer, ”My armor should be sufficient, but you could tap CeCe for some benefit to her. I say we just rush in and see what we have to deal with. Does anyone need to activate a light source?”

do you want me to handle the wand? save worrying about a UMD roll...and i'll cast light...

I believe mage armor was offered, which is on the psychic list and wasn’t UMD’d. Heightened awareness was the other wand used, but not offered. It is also a personal spell so if it was offered the recipient would have to be able to cast it on themselves.

"Yes actually that would be grand" Marius starts removing his leather armour and stuffing it into his pack as he says this.

"I hate wearing armour but I hate getting stabbed more. This is perfect"

Shifters get WIS to AC if they're not wearing armour so that helps Marius a bit thanks! Assuming it counts as not wearing armour that is. I think so?

He extends his claws and stands by the door, and gives Rusty a nod to confirm he's in agreement.

I think you're right--certainly monks have had no issue that I know of w/mage armor.

Zhaxia uses a charge each on Marius and CeCe. Then she stows her wand and pulls out the wayfinder on a chain around her neck. One activation later, a glow appears around her. Casting light from the wayfinder.

"Well, if you're asking, I won't say no. Thank you. I do not plan to be in melee at all, but as ranged weapons are a thing..." She draws her flask of acid. "Speaking of ranged weapons..." She readies herself to shoot an alchemically enhanced acid splash.

This is not a ready action as we are not in initiative yet.

Yukari ready her bow and stand next to the shifter.

You open the main doors I assume quietly and find yourself in the antechamber of the granary, a big empty room.

Two more pair of doors in front of you, the left ones are closed, but the right ones are open.

Rusty quietly slips in and looks through the open doors.

Marius follows Rusty's lead, but knowing his bulk is more noticable he stays out of sight of the open doors and watches Rusty's reaction.

He sniffs the air for scents of undead, but something catches in his snout and he sneezes.

"Smell anything?" Scent can tell the existance of creatures within 30ft, so if something other than us is in here Marius should know

The sorcerer moves in but stays in the back. She checks out the antechamber and the doors.

Through the open door you see one of the large rooms of the granary, covered in a quite literal sea of grain, with flow hatches used to refill the room from the 10-foot-high ceiling.

The tiles covered in grain are difficult terrain, but you can move through them normally with a DC 10 STR check for each square; the hatches can be opened to make a cascade of grain fall on anyone under them, either with a DC 10 Jump check that triggers an attack of opportunity or with a ranged attack against AC 20.

While sniffing around for any trace of the enemies Marius notices a trails of small blood drops going further on beyond the open doors from the entrance. The blood belongs to one of the dead guards outside.

Zhaxia indicates the left set of double doors. "Check them before we move in? I wouldn't want to get cut off from the exit."

Rusty and CeCe move up and guard the open door. They nod in agreement, ”Go ahead, I’ll cover this access point.”

"Good idea."

Brat gets ready to cast a spell (should it be needed when the door is opened).

"Blood" Marius sniffs and indicates the direction of the blood trail.

"From one of the guards outside"

At Zhaxia's suggestion he nods and stands ready, his claws extended and readied.

Zhaxia steps up and opens the other doors, quickly stepping to the side.

Therin nods to the others that he is ready, blade out.

OK, I'm not thinking. Zhaxia has the open/close cantrip, so if that works on the door she'll use it.

The room so far seems empty, with openings on the top and left side and some stairs to reach the hatches more easily. You can go inside if you want.

The sorcerer moved up a bit and peeks around the corner, looking for creatures and anything unusual.
