Torgen gathered up the supplies at the house and made sure they were distributed before they moved on. "Better that this villain doesn't have these I think" he had said.

To Kiliuk's suggestion he agrees, and he echoes Merainas dark words. "If there's a monster in that cave, we'd best arm ourselves with what knowledge we can before facing it"

He draws his axe and hammer at this point, the safety of the town miscreants no longer his greatest concern.

This patch of white and gold flowers presents a lovely scene marred by two jarring elements. Beside the flowers is a lopsided wooden cart with one wheel broken and no cargo. Near the cart are deep scuffle marks as well as a few drops of a dark liquid.

Torgen's actions will depend on the results of that spell. If all are fascinated he will stand down, but if any seems to still be hostile he will attack them, and non-lethally if it's one of the kids

The tiefling snarls about the uselessness of these weak kids, and shakes off the effect, only to almost fall over from the impact of Torgen's second blow.

The tiefling falls over.

As he falls, the teens begin shouting. The tiefling, they explain, wanted to unleash an ettin on the jubilee to distract the townsfolk so that he could steal from them unhindered. The bullies went along with the plan to get back at the townspeople who banned them from the celebration. When they saw Kameer and Kara heading toward the brightbloom patch, they couldn't resist the jealous urge to beat them up and steal Aurelliax's beloved amulet.
They were taunting the ettin where it's restrained in a nearby cave, and the creature stole the amulet. The ettin is likely to break its restraints soon and rampage into Highdelve.

The teens tell you the records you are interested in are all located back in town.

You make your way into the darkened cave, moving through musty smelling passages until you find what is clearly the ettin's lair. Haphazard piles of rags and bones dot this gaping cave chamber, and a greasy tent is propped against one wall.

"Well, we found the diary of a tiefling who wanted to release the ettin against the town and rob whatever was left--I don't think they knew about you, though. The tiefling had gotten Tolwin and Richelle to go along with the plan because the two of them wanted to get revenge for having been barred from the festival." Still panting from his brief foray into rage, he eyes Aurelliax speculatively. "Did the kids know about you? Or did they think you weren't able to defend the town, for some reason?"

And we made sure the foolish kids weren't harmed either...they gave up, thankfully. We were hoping they could be reasoned with...that tiefling had some sort of power or sway over them...

To add to the other's explanation, Torgen takes out the amulet.

"The ettin had this amulet-" he says, while offering it to Aureliax.

"The tiefling seemed to think it important they had it for some reason."

Aureliax takes back the amulet, and then right in front of you transforms from a human form to her dragon form. She does inteed give you a ride back to town; you are on her back, and the rebellious teens are held firmly but gently in her front claws.

The townsfolk thank you for your help, and make sure you get the answers you need to your quests that brought you here.

This adventure comes with a set of four pregenerated characters who all have a backstory tied into the adventure story, so I'd encourage you to use them. There are also some adventure rewards that are only awarded if you use the pregenerated characters.

I will provide the pregenerated characters a bit closer to start time.

If you will use a pregenerated character, please provide the information on the character you want to receive the credit.

If you plan to use your own character, please provide the information about that character I need to report and fill out your chronicle sheet.

If you're new here and don't know what some of this means, you are very welcome here. Let me know and either I or some of the other players will be happy to walk you through this stuff.

Yes, it's evergreen. I would really suggest using one of the adventure's pregens, because big pieces of the adventure only make sense then.

It's been years since I've played 1st edition, but I'm confused by Torgen's statblock. He appears to be getting his full strength bonus on his main and off-hand attack without Double Slice.

Is that a mistake or have I missed / forgotten something? I only spotted that as I put him in Hero Lab to get a nice statblock.

I also appreciated his choice to put neither of his 2 measly skill points into class skills. I respect his bravery :)

We can spend a few weeks on the festival before we need to move on to finish the more scripted part of the adventure. Since you're all playing pregens, the story will make better sense if we mostly explore the festival. (the adventure suggests skipping the festival part if we had less that three hours to play. That means we can safely spend about 1/4 of the convention here, so rounding up, that means about another week.

I'm really sorry, team, that I didn't post for several days.

Wednesday I had an issue with a grumpy small child who needed my attention in a way that prevented me from posting.

Yesterday I was so sleep deprived from that same situation that I did not see that my GM games had not been included in my evening round of posts.

I'm working on getting a round of GM posts in now, so you should be able to keep moving forward soon.
