Azig Bohrs |

Azig steps away from the three men. They've dropped weapons but might pick them back up and he doesn't want to be in the middle of that....
Quietly moving away from them and into the area of my allies?

EltonJ |

A withdraw action would deny any Attack of Opportunity, and if you withdraw into the darkness BONY made, well, they can't follow you without risking walking into a belly of darkness that could devour them
Yes. You are correct. However, I wanted him to check to see if he trips.

Arcanist Daranil Aldaris |

Daranil is shrouded in darkness, completely unable to see where the allies and enemies have moved. But his low cackle is proof enough that he appreciates it.
"Now's your chance, Lamm! The darkness may be around you, but the spotlight shines on you nevertheless! Please make sure your last moment is as memorable as possible!"
The elf closes his eyes, denying himself his instinctual reliance and using his ears to guide his shot.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
And he takes a shot in the dark!
shortbow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Miss % (above 50% is good): 1d1000 ⇒ 19
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
If Daranil can't pinpoint Lamm he'll just fire an arrow into the square where he last saw him.

Arcanist Daranil Aldaris |

As the darkness fades, Daranil looks down upon the fallen body of Lamm. He brings his hands together in a slow clap. "Let's hear it for our dearly departed friend. And to Bridgette, who took his hand and guided him off the state of life with a delightful farewell with word and spell and blade. Please, take a bow!"
Should Bridgette allow, Daranil will take her hand to guide her in a bow for some unseen audience. If she does not, he respects her space and allows his applause to taper off.
"Now, I know we're all excited to 'inherit' our darling's possessions. But I think we need to take this moment to truly savor what we've created together. Take in the sight... his position, the errant sprays of blood, the scrape in the wood where the weapon came down. In every story, an end. In every end, death. In every death, beauty."
Artistry (Forensics): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
He glances towards the three thugs. "I... suppose you can join us in observance. So long as you're willing to behave." His voice is almost musical.

Lem Nevercot |

Lem shrugs and ignores Daranil's weird theatrics. Instead he turns to the trio of thugs. "Hey, so where's the dead guy's office? I need to look through his papers. I was hoping for a confession or something but maybe I can work with just receipts. Unless one of you can give me a confession to the murder of that fisherman last week?"

Azig Bohrs |

Azig stands "tall" beside Lem and snickers. "Or, I don't recognize humans any better than you recognize rats. So you could turn and run away and maybe the others won't be able to pick you out of a line-up for the authorities either. Keep in mind that Lamm never intended to pay you a severance package, so there's nothing here for you anymore but pain.

Bridgette Olivia Noya Yakov |

Bridgette eyes the henchmen coldly and her voice is cold
"Lamm still has a huge debt to pay off, and that'll include everything he has, and ......
Given your employer's death, you don't get your retirement package due to the bankruptcy of his enterprises.
If you want do it want it, do you want to challenge the darkness just as he did before he died?"

Lem Nevercot |

Lem retreated into the shadows and raised his voice. "Run, lads, unless you want to join your boss in the dirt."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Coming from the darkness, the cleric's voice sounded extremely intimidating.

The thugs think cowardice is the better part of valor, and runs away at both Bridgette's and Lem's intimidation.

Thoric Stiffbeard |

“Good eye!” Thoric says as Azig spots the safe behind the painting. Moving to the window, the dwarf looks to see if he can see the thugs fleeing and if they stop anywhere close by. “It is possible that there are others in this area that are loyal to Lemm. We should be quick with our search. Cutting the head off the snake does kill the snake, but it opens up a void for a new leader to take over.”

Azig Bohrs |

Azig focuses his attention on the safe. "but we still need to open this thing. And the jerk might have it trapped as well.... Anybody see notes or keys or anything that might help?"

Arcanist Daranil Aldaris |

While the party is focused on the safe, Daranil kneels down over Lamm's remains and looks down for a moment. Satisfied, he closes the man's eyes and once again dons his mask before examining the safe with his allies.
"Ahh, almost a shame that those underlings ran away like they did. I bet one of them would have solved this problem for us, one way or another."

Azig Bohrs |

Azig points out the needle trap to the others. "If it's the same as before get ready to restrain me again."
He puts all of his weapons out of reach and then tries to disable the trap and open the safe.
Do I need to re-role the dice?

Yes, you do. It's a DC 20 to get it to open the right way. A DC 15 to open it the wrong way.

Azig Bohrs |

Azig takes the items and stands. "The way they spoke I thought there might be some great stash of platinum coins. Thoric? Do you know gems?"
Appraise untrained: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
He hands the sack to anyone that might be able to appraise what they are worth, then looks at the bloody deck of cards. "Bloody likely from the owner of the deck. Can anyone detect if there's any magic on these?"

Thoric Stiffbeard |

“What, just because I’m a dwarf I should be good at gems?” He moves up to investigate the gem that Azig is holding. (cast Detect Magic – If it is magical he will inform the group)
Appraise Untrained (aiding): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
“It is a beautiful gem but I don’t know what kind it is or value.”

Azig Bohrs |

"Sorry. I thought maybe 'cause dwarves are know as the best miners and such. but maybe I was thinking metals, not stones? I didn't mean to offend you."
"They are pretty and might be worth a bit of coin."
Does the 18 appraise untrained get anything?
"I think we should still search the rest of this place. I'm sure the jerk had books, records of his money. And he probably has other valuable stuff hidden with them. The authorities should know of everything he was involved in, and maybe get his allies in crime!"

Arcanist Daranil Aldaris |

"Ahh, personal records. That's a good idea. Let's go digging through dear Lamm's documents to see what he's been keeping track of. In fact..."
The elf lets out a chuckle. "Do you think Lamm knew any other scourges of the streets? Perhaps we can rescue other children. Secure other spoils. Put on more... performances."

His records are in his office, back when you met his three henchmen.

Thoric Stiffbeard |

Thoric’s eyes light up at Bridgette’s words; “Yes! He has been able to escape justice far too long. Too many lives ruined and even though he is dead, those who have accepted bribes to keep it quiet need to face judgement too.”
Thoric looks over the shoulders, under the shoulders… of those who are looking at the records. Specifically looking for any nobility that might have gotten rich off of keeping quiet.
