Sorry, me not paying attention. Can we move Sylvester a little further forward so he has line of sight for next round? I'll leave it to the GM to move if allowed as you will know when he could see the demons through the trees

GM Bret |

Miriel gets near Yellow and adds more power to her sword. Then she tries to taunt Yellow to come down and play with her.
Also moved Sylvester to someplace he could see most of what is happening.

Bedlam sees it is rather bad an enemy is not on the ground. Moreover this one can be seen from the house. The gnome thinks who might be most dangerous here without hope to remember much

GM Bret |

Green originally looked like a normal gnome but dropped the disguise to show their demonic nature.
There is a human — Lady Dyrianna’s companion — in the gazebo. They are still blinded and have not moved. They are the only figure still in the gazebo (the round structure at the bottom left of the map).
Currently the only one flying is Yellow. Purple also has wings so it is likely able to fly. Green does not have any obvious wings.
The human in the gazebo also lacks wings.
Bedlam does not recognize the gnome-like creature.
So you were 15’ away and it looks like you returned to the exact same position. Speed 20’ plus haste gives you a speed of 40’ (twice normal speed) so you are moving more than half your speed. Spring Attack allows the movement.
Bedlam strides forward, strikes Green, and then sneaks back to his original position. The slash did much less damage than expected.
Stealth total 31 when figuring in -5 for moving more than half speed.
Seeing Miriel put so much effort into her weapon, Yellow tells her “Toss that weapon away, you have no need for a weapon when the others have no weapon.”
Miriel is protected by the magic circle so Yellow demon’s actions are useless.

GM Bret |

Khellek realizes that purple is a real succubus! It looks like she is one of the rare ones that has gained skills outside those typical of their kind. Use of cold iron or weapons blessed by a good deity are recommended. She would be immune to poison and electricity and somewhat resistant to acid, cold, and fire.
Like any succubus she has the ability to charm monster, detect thoughts, ethereal jaunt herself, greater teleport herself, suggestion and vampiric touch at will. She can also call in other demons to aid her.
Also like any succubus, her lewd acts can drain the life of the partner. Even a simple kiss is enough for this. It takes time, but she is also capable of bequeathing a profane gift of power to a willing humanoid, making them more powerful.

I think there is only the one throw, the second line is the damage. I think Bedlam also forgot the +2 to hit from inspire courage. So that would take it up to AC28 before a range increment.
For range, 20' along the flat and then 25' up - by Pythagoras would put her about 32' away, so one range increment for a 20' weapon. That -2 nicely counters the +2 he forgot from inspire courage. I'm really hoping we are not facing someone with an AC higher than 26!
The scholar continues to offer words of wisdom to his students. "They will lack leverage while flying, so we must be wary of their words more than their claws."
Maintains IC. Remember that +2 is also to fear and charm effects, which with these ladies, maybe more helpful than normal!
Taking his own advice, the scholar unhitches Bessie from his belt, and with careful fingers loads a cold iron bolt into her.
"Don't worry! Bessie has taken out a bear before. These flying strumpets will be no challenge for her!"

GM Bret |

Gorg, since you flew up at more than 45 degrees, could I please have the DC 20 Fly check that I required of the blind NPC?
You do get “a bonus on Fly skill checks equal to 1/2 your caster level” from the Fly spell to help with that.
Found it, bonus is +4 since Numair cast the Fly spell.
Sylvester watches as his spell fails to pierce Yellow’s spell resistance.
Grog tries to fly upwards at a high angle.
I’ll wait for the fly check to resolve it.

GM Bret |

Also a +4 bonus for the 'Good' maneuverability, for a total of +8.
No, I believe that the caster level bonus is meant to replace that. Note that the fly skill says “A creature with a natural fly speed receives a bonus (or penalty) on Fly skill checks depending on its maneuverability: Clumsy –8, Poor –4, Average +0, Good +4, Perfect +8.” A magical spell is not natural.
I think his skill is +0 (no Dex mod, no ranks in skill) +4 (spell caster level /2) +2 morale (heroism) for a total of +6. If I missed something, go ahead and point it out. I could have easily missed a bonus.

![]() |

From the FAQ (bolded for emphasis):
No, any creature that loses all actions can’t take an action to attempt a Fly check to hover in place and thus automatically falls. That includes a paralyzed, stunned, or dazed creature. Magical flight doesn’t act any differently, even for paralysis, as it isn’t a purely mental action. A creature with 0 Dexterity can’t fly, and paralysis sets a creature’s Dexterity to 0. Despite the fact that the Fly skill mentions that bonuses and penalties from maneuverability apply to creatures with natural fly speeds, they apply for any fly speed. If they didn’t apply to creatures that gained flight artificially or through magic, then those maneuverabilities (like the listed good maneuverability for the fly spell) would have no game effect. Finally, the statement “You are not considered flat-footed while flying” means that flying (unlike balancing using Acrobatics or climbing) doesn’t automatically make you flat-footed or force you to lose your Dexterity bonus to AC; it doesn’t mean that flying makes you immune to being caught flat-footed.
So he should be at +10. Still only a 50% chance of success, but still...

![]() |

Both Inspire Courage and Heroism are morale bonuses, right? So these are not stack upon attack calculation. Or are they?

Inspire Courage is competence on attack and damage, so it stacks. For some reason, it is morale for the fear save bonus, so against fear saves heroism and Inspire Courage don't stack.

It is DC 20 to fly up at greater than 45 degree angle. Failing that, I believe you would be limited to 45 degree angle.
You could be at a height of as much as 85’ with the 45 degree angle.
Your fly check was enough to allow a turn of greater than 45 degree but less than 180.
Also since you can not charge while flying I do not think you can get an attack this round just because it takes 100’ of movement to go up as much as she did. She basically did a full speed double move nearly straight up.
