Cerulean was having a great time, up until the giants turned on them all and they found themselves seeing red. Blood was a common sight in their line of work, both as a chirugeon and as an adventurer, plenty of times had it been others and many times had it been their own. But the amount spilt, and the pain of the blades cutting through Cerulean's skin had caught them blindsided, stunned. Stumbling back, reeling from the strike Cerulean expected this to be it, the time they trusted too far and paid the final price, but then Cassiel was there, he always was shielding them from continued aggression.

Their composure came back quick enough as they scrambled to their feet, but no words were needed in thanks to Cass yet, they all had to make it out alive still. No time to think, enough time to act.

Hands in a flurry Cerulean grabbed reagent and flask in a flash pulling two, adding, and shaking, not bothering to cork them however feeling the numbing sensation fill their fingertips and a silent dread creep into their mind, but not nearly as bad as the minds about to be affected.

Two bottles went wide into the group of giants exploding into a noxious ephemeral Amareto scented smoke that drove the mind into a stir.

action to quick alc double brew, 3/6 vers vials dread ampoules, then two strikes to throw them, aoo as necessary. Not alot of damage, but the frighten is great on top of Cass's off guard.

Cerulean's face twists into a ruddy snarl as they uncharacteristically lash out verbally and with explosives. "Wrrretches! You had no reason to fear us, but you'll fear us more than the slumbering king in your fleeting final moments!"

Cerulean's dread ampoules wound two of the giants and frighten them. Kharya shatters the kneecap of the giant that struck Farrina, giving the mage time to vanish and retreat.

Cassiel moves to protect Cerulean, scoring a critical hit on her frightened assailant! Timdok likewise manages a critical hit against his attacker. Esirelle's foe resists her spell.

Cassiel's original attacker moves to flank him with the one that attacked Cerulean, their scimitars flashing in the light as they attack him. The one that attacked Farrina shifts focus to Esirelle, while Kharya's and Timdok's foes continue to attack them.

The invisible Farrina surveys the situation and eventually gives an unseen sigh of resignation.

First things first; Another hit like that and she'll be out of action so defense is called for. With a wave of her hand, three invisible duplicates of the injured entertainer come into being next to her.

Second things second; Targeting the giant that's attacking Esirelle, Farrina surrounds it with illusory mirrors. The reflections of the giant leap forward attacking the giant as the illusionist (and her duplicates) reappear.

As Cerulean falls back, Kharya pursues her original target, grabbing the giant and punching him in the gut! Farrina conjures mirror malefactors to torment the same giant.

Meanwhile, Timdok scores a critical hit with his riposte. He then casually disarms his opponents swords and delivers another staggering blow, sending the giant stumbling into Cassiel, who dispatches him with a slice of his flaming blade!

Esirelle's synaptic pulse leaves the giants reeling. They struggle past the stun to attack as best they can. Kharya and Cassiel each take a hit.

Kharya shrugs off the scimitar, her armored frame giving no easy surfaces to slice along. Rolling her neck, she squares off against the giants, flames venting out the back as she delivers another crushing roundhouse.

With the +2 AC from a Raised Shield I think that missed, not sure how that ripples into Cassiel's reactions though.

Cerulean heals themself and Esirelle. Kharya delivers another powerful punch to the giant she is grabbing. Farrina's mirror malefactors overwhelm the giant's mind, and he dies with a look of terror frozen on his face!

The wizard shifts her aim to another giant, blasting them with flames! Cassiel and Timdok move to flank that giant, punching and slashing it. Esirelle invokes the spirits to torment that giant and another. The flanked giant then gets a spiritual flashback of pain thanks to Esirelle's foretelling of harm!

The injured giant attacks Cassiel while the other two come up behind Timdok to attack. The light shining from Cassiel's shield dazzles them, though, and only one giant manages to land a hit on Timdok.

Grabbing a bottle of straight alcohest and a rag they pop the cork of the 'good' stock. "Bad burn incoming, don't blink."

Splashing some of it on Farrina's wounds causing them to burn severely and swell closed to prevent the mage from bleeding out. "That'll keep you for now, I'll give you some more medicine for the ache once we dispatch with these worms."

As Cassiel steps into position, he can’t help but notice the constant chatter from his companions. Frowning, he thinks to himself I had forgotten that they always talk this much during battle.

Pretty sure this fight is all but over, Esirelle relies on her most basic of spells, casting another divine lance as she moves away, seeming to crawl as time slows around her. a whopping 15 feet. Despite the time dilation, she blasts the remaining giant right in the face.

As Cerulean heals Farrina again, Kharya grabs and punches the uninjured giant. Timdok disarms his opponent before moving to attack the one Kharya has grabbed, grazing them. Cassiel and Farrina finish off the burning giant, while Esirelle scores a critical hit against the final, grabbed foe.

The last giant desperately attacks Kharya, slicing her once, though it's not enough to dissuade the azer.

Each of the eight skulls used for clatterbones are partially wrapped in cold iron bands; this cold iron is 1 Bulk of standard grade material, worth 250 gp per skull. Among the giants’ mundane items are simple survival objects, such as knives and mostly empty waterskins, but a few curious objects can be found here as well, including an urn depicting a jackal-headed figure that contains the ashes of a hermit who dwelt here centuries ago. The hermit’s beloved obsidian greater charm of fire resistance remains within the ashes in the urn, along with the bones of her favorite vulture. A camel hide bag contains 212 gp, a large pottery jar filled with dead flies (each the size of a nectarine), and a sumptuously woven keffiyeh depicting a giant eating a live basilisk worth 100 gp.

Hidden in the keffiyeh is a slate tablet and a stylus. The tablet depicts some crudely drawn half-scorpion, half-human figures and, looming above them, an oddly stylized figure that’s clearly Akhenaten. There are 47 scorpion-humanoids depicted on the tablet.

Timdok tosses aside the seized scimitar and cracks his neck, then shrinks down to his usual size. "47 scorpion men, huh? Sounds like 40 for Cassiel and we'll split the rest." He gives a wink to his friends.

Before Timdok shrinks back down, but after everything calms down a bit

"Oh Tiiiim could I ask you for a favor while you're still big." Cerulean runs around checking the eyes of the various giants before they fall into the sweet caress of death too deeply. Pointing out one in particular. "Could you cut out this one's gall bladder, I wasn't lying about Giants having very strong magical essences that are highly useful for alchemical concoctions. And it would be much easier and faster to harvest while you're still well.. them sized."

Weather Tim did so or not, Cerulean quickly went about collecting, hair, tears, scooping or scraping various reagents from the bodies of the giants for later use into small airtight jar. Even starting a tiny blood tap on the least damaged specimen. The pristine healer's gloves keeping the ichor from sticking to their hands during the whole process.

"Okay now to tend to everyone's various injuries, before we delve any deeper to fight the scorpion men."

Cerulean gathers everyone together and begins applying treated bandages, salve soaked gauze, minor splints, draining quickly forming blemishes, alchemical agents that would reduce inflammation and pain. And generally working diligently to settle everyone's aching bodies except their own at first.

While waiting for the first set of ointments, and salves to work their magic Cerulean went back to harvesting from their fallen foes. Digging through their belongings to see if they had any useful items upon them that could be repurposed. Now loaded to the gills with various harvested bits from the giants including gallbladder bile, blood, earwax, skin shavings, and even ground hair dust(A hewn down eyelash), and even a single clipping of the fallen's nails. They pat the replenished satchel of ingredients with a satisfied sigh and then remove and replace bandages and wrappings where needed finally taking the time to deal with themselves as well.

While healing Cerulean also manages to recover 2/6 vers vials, and will treat everyone's wounds again in 10 minutes if we hang around, recovering another 10 while we wait for the treat wounds cooldown and the last 2 while performing the 2nd treat wounds. That should leave everyone topped off after 30 minutes of down time and Cerulean topped off on vers vials for the next encounter.

"I.. uh thanks Cass, but without your shield I wouldn't be here, b-besides I'm sure your gods blessings can do the same thing." They turn away slightly packing away all their new goodies and definitely not just trying to look small and out of the way for once.


Once you are ready, you proceed past the temple and down another natural passage. A deep shaft rises and falls here, leaving a sand-strewn five-foot-wide ledge to the south. Below, the shaft drops away into darkness, while a mere twenty feet above, it pinches to a five-foot-wide crack in the ceiling. From this crack, the howling sound issues. To the east, a wall of hides and wooden beams mostly blocks off a twelve-foot-wide opening into a larger cavern.

Cassiel gives Cerulean a warm, understanding smile. "You give me too much credit, Cerulean. My shield may protect us, but it’s your skill and care that keep us all standing. The Dawnflower’s blessings may guide my hand, but it’s in the hands of my allies like you that truly lives are truly saved."

As they turn away, he releases his grip on their shoulder and gently pats their back twice and adds softly "Don't diminish your worth. We all have our roles to play, and yours is every bit as vital as mine." before returning to the group, rallying everyone to get moving again.

Cassiel stands at the edge of the ledge, peering down into the darkness abyss below. Turning back to the group he says "That crack above is where the sound’s coming from, but the opening to the east is likely where we need to go."

As Cerulean starts gathering supplies, Esirelle closes her eyes, as much not to see what she's doing with the giants -- Is she feeding us giant ear wax in those elixirs? -- as to refocus herself and try to get back to the normal flow of time.

Once everyone's healed, she briskly claps her hands. "All right, back to the matter at hand. We have work to do, and it's not going to get any easier."

Cassiel slowly turns to face Kharya, his voice remaining calm. "Kharya, my friend, we are all here for the same purpose, and I don’t believe anyone’s ego is being stroked."

He starts striding towards her and is about to engage with her to ask what is bothering her when Timdok speaks up. Cassiel pivots, turning to face the halfling and offers "I could fly you up there, if there are no better options."

Anybody who makes their way up into the crack in the roof and navigates its length upward for another 30 feet eventually emerges into the air above on a narrow cliffside ledge. There doesn't seem to be much up here, but it does provide another means of entry and egress from the caverns, and is the source of the constant mournful howling wind.

Reunited once more, you begin to approach the eastern barricade. Cerulean Skies and Kharya both spot movement beyond it--two desert giants peek through cracks in the slats, watching you. They also spot what appear to be barrels of pistols pressed against bits of stretched hides. The giants seem ready to fire upon you when you get close to the barricade!

"That's what I expected!" Esirelle says. "Would have been nice to find it earlier so we could have avoided that last fight, but perhaps good practice for us to get used to working together again."

She pauses at the gun barrels and lowers her voice as she gestures the others back out of sight. "I think using our recent tactics here should work again. Send Timdok and Cassiel in invisibly so they can provide a distraction that lets the rest of us get close."
