Gaelyn d'Orien
Gaelyn Flexxt
Ancient Half-Elf
Champion of Yuelral
(Sorcerer)
Gaelyn is meant to emulate the Paladin Mind Sword Archetype from PF1. His telekinetic abiities are the cornerstone of his heroic ideal. Yes, the choice to have these abilities at 1st level and to waste the 2nd Level Free Archetype slot is intentional. As is having him live with the reduced CON for a few levels; he is def meant to be a ranged combatant given that TKP allows him to hurl a dagger much further than its base range increment as a thrown weapon.
In many ways, his look is probably more like the Iconic Rogue, Merisiel, given that he has 6 daggers sheathed on his right leg; non-elves rarely know that the dagger is the sacred weapon of Yuelral.
Now though, the Worldwound closed, he meandered back across the southern shore of the Lake, not much interested in Numeria, back to Restov. There weren’t all that many Mind Swords who had exited the crusade alive, and there weren’t any Rogarvians to be heard from either. Gaelyn himself may not have been young for an aiuvarin anymore, but his flame for Yuelral burned as brightly as ever. He didn’t need to be a scion of kings, he needed to love The Wise and show her gratitude for his magic. The Stolen Lands needed that: he would be a Scion of Gratitude, sharing the blessings of her magic whenever he could.

Hey all! Just opening re-recruitment for 2 PCs to join the existing group of 4 who find themselves resting just on the edge of the Stolen Lands after being granted a charter to explore and put any bandits they find to the sword.
I did not run the initial recruitment of this game but moved from player to GM when the original gamemaster had to move on. If you are interested, we are looking for two 1st level characters to join. The party now consists of a human sorceress, a human bard, a half-elven fighter, and a dwarven cleric of Abadar.
The group are consistent posters, and have a great sense of role-play about them. If this speaks to you, consider making application. We will make quick additions, so as to keep the story moving, so hurry and drop your name in the hat!
Eletido
I'm definitely interested. Without a ton of thought, I'm leaning towards a martial character - maybe a Ranger.
@DM DoctorEvil, do the character building rules from the original recruitment still apply? Which I think means remastered versions of:
Ancestries: dwarf, elf, gnome, goblin, halfling, human, half-elf, half-orc
Classes: alchemist, barbarian, bard, champion, cleric, druid, fighter, monk, ranger, rogue, sorcerer, wizard.
DM DoctorEvil
No monstrous or exotic ancestries will be considered. Any Paizo class is fine for this re-recruitment. Where it exists, remastered content will be required.
Send us some sample build and backstory, you don't need to write a small novel, just a few threads to pull on here and there. The new PCs will be joining in a small outpost, Nivkata's Crossing, which is the last outpost in Brevoy before the wilderness of the Stolen Lands. Having some valid reason to be there will be important. I can tell you more about Nivkata's Crossing if you have specific questions.

Definitely interested.
Here is my submission. Patrin Lodovka, a human kineticist (Earth/Wood) who, having been virtually rejected by his family, wants to make good in the world and show the family how much of a mistake they made.
I use the android version of herolab so a pdf is the easiest way to show you my character sheet. I'll create an alias if I'm accepted into the game.
My character sheet (together with a brief background) can be seen here

Some extra info on the current party composition. I think we have a good balance, but just so that you know. Our recently retired character was a rogue.
-divine, occult, and primal spell traditions are covered.
-two characters are melee, two are ranged.
We have a solid spread and I will not tell you what characters are expected, because that is... just no. But I will say what the party lacks right now.
-a character that can deal with traps (quietly)
-a character that would at least partially cover arcane tradition
-a character with a solid intelligence score to fill in the int-based skills
Good luck!

Having seen the groups needs I'd like to change my submission. I am withdrawing Patrin and submitting instead Panas, a human Twisting Tree Magus.
As before, I'll create an alias if selected. Panas Can be seen here
Zeitate Vrajitoare
May I introduce Zeitate Vrajitoare, a young Varisian wizard and scholar of all things (at least all he can learn). See below for the links to the Pathbuilder character as well as a link to a picture. Also, below is a brief rough draft of the backstory.
As for the future for him, the intention is to have him function as the arcane boom of sorts but also to be a very knowledge focused character. I saw the initial recruitment included Free Archetype, so if that is still in place I would like to go for Loremaster (assuming this is okay).
Zeitate (Pathbuilder) (of note, only level 1 is completed as I have done a lot of tinkering with it)
One of his fellow students, a young noble from Brevoy, was called home. He told Zei he would send letters and to keep in touch. And perhaps, one day, Zei would come to Brevoy and have some adventures of his own. Zei said his goodbyes, assuming he would never see or hear from his friend. It came as a surprise when the letter arrived, insisting that Zei come immediately for a grand adventure was being had and Zei shouldn’t miss it.
Zei thought long into the night after reading the letter, then suddenly he knew he had to go. He packed as quick as he could and formed a plan. He knew he shouldn’t do it, but he still remembered the lessons his people taught about getting into placed they should not be and acquiring things they probably should have, so he would go as immediately as he could think of. How hard could using a scroll of teleportation be, really?
It came as a shock to everyone who witnessed his arrival. The young girl who had come to fetch water from the well, the farmer bringing some extra crops to town to sell, even the carrion birds, all watched in confusion as a young Varisian man suddenly appeared above the well. Zei came crashing down hard, breaking both the wooden bar used to brace the rope and his leg in the fall. He knew his friend lived on the shore of a great lake, but it seemed that the spell brought him to another source of water.
The small village he found himself in had access to very little magical healing, so Zei had to wait to naturally heal and he knew he likely would miss the grand adventure his friend spoke of. Still, once he was healed, a week or so later, he set off again. He was only a day or two from a small outpost, Nivkata’s Crossing. Perhaps there he could find a way to join his friend.
I assume the friend in the write up above, who I will work out in more detail later, does not survive the beginning of the AP and Zei would have heard such news in Nivkata’s Crossing. Given that joining his friend is no longer an option, Zei would likely take the chance to have the adventure he was apparently coming to have.
Zartana
You grew up in the north, but the call for heroes willing to help take back your country's rightful holdings has inflamed your dreams of profit and possibilities, and you have joined an expedition journeying south.
Despite her ancestry, she is actually from a world where piracy, adventure is rife and appealing. River trade, small fishing villages, made for good pickings, and gaining the resources that was needed for day to day activities, anything else was sold for profit
Zartana grew up here, Issia, raised after some form of tragedy befell her family when she was still too young to know, and to be honest, she hasnt thought much of it. She was raised well, learned quite a few useful things from her family that raised her. So who cared where she was from initially?
When she heard that there would be an expedition into the lands that previously belonged to her adoptive people? How could she sit still and have others claim it? No, she was going to get her foot in the door, and help claim it for her and her people
Knab "The Knave"
|
Certainly no king, exiled from dwarven lands unjustly and coming to live with criminals and thieves during the twilight years of his long dwarven life, Knab took (but subsequently never received) a large promise of payment for his “special skillset” as the sixthman accompanying a group of poachers who sought the hides of wyverns of the unconquerable wilderness of the Stolen Lands.
Successful in tracking but totally outmatched, he fled the company for his life when the beast slew half of them within a matter of seconds, and now finds himself in the small outpost of Nivkata’s Crossing, humiliated, broke, out of supplies, in desperate need of employment, and hungering for a new flag to fight for…
Mastermind Rogue interested in taming an Augdunar as a Cavalier to carry all the riches he intends to make over the second half of his “career” in adventuring. His motives for joining the kingmakers would be purely selfish, but he will be a team player towards those ends. I can adapt his build for traps - he already possesses a high intelligence and arcana skill. Will try and have the profile up and ready by the end of the day!
Lady Delena Surtova
I'm not Veniir, but I had the exact same idea.
Lady Delena Surtova is an outcast Brevoy noble. True to her family name, she's scheming, manipulative and opportunistic, but she's determined to claw her way into a position where she can best use those skills so she's very committed to the idea of kingdom building.
The hints of Teela weren't behind the idea, it just offered a perfect slot for her.
Pathbuilder doesn't offer everything, at least not the free version, so for now just Paizo sheet. See the history spoiler there.

Name: Velas Galla
Ancestry: Human
Background: Sword Scion
Class: Magus (Laughing Shadow)
(Will create an alias if selected)
Mechanics: Pathbuilder link - minor details like spells, equipment, and languages aren't 100% finalized yet.
Velas descends from a line of swordsman from Restov - lived and breathed swordplay from an early age. Never a star pupil, Velas sought to gain an advantage and learned how to tie magic into his sword-fighting techniques. Now, blade and arcane magic intertwine to devastating effect.
Velas initially ignored the call to arms to journey into the Stolen Lands, that is until a representative of the Orlovsky came calling. After a brief conversation, Velas found himself tasked with ensuring that the younger Orlovsky daughter safely ventures into the Stolen Lands and with providing the Orlovsky's updates on the group's progress.
In all of this, Velas sees another opportunity to gain an advantage. By helping the Orlovsky's, he will gain favor with a noble family. By aligning himself with these prospective rulers of a new nation, he is in position to have a substantial part in the nation's formation. And, by playing his part in taming the Stolen Lands, the region, and potentially the world, will hear of a new great swordsman and the next great fighting style!

Interesting submission. Why is Lady Surtova in a backwater like Nivkata's Crossing. With all of her energy directed towards reinstatement, why would she join up with this band of nobodies headed into the Stolen Lands? Assume the charter they have is a secret, unless they wish to share it.

Sounds like you might have a backstory interaction with Lady Quintessa. Something to work on I suppose, but its possible the family sent you to meet her without her knowledge.
If that's the story, great. If not, how did you get to Nivkata's Crossing?

Yeah, my thinking is that Lady Quintessa's family sent Velas without Quintessa's knowledge. The Orlovsky family received word that the party was headed towards Nivkata's Crossing, and Velas rode hard to get there ahead of them. This idea would probably need buy-in from the group, and Rising Phoenix in particular.
I saw in Lady Quintessa's backstory that her family hired a magical tutor for her, so it doesn't seem to be a stretch that her family wants to continue keeping tabs on her. Plus, I think it could make for some interesting role play in the future.

Panas has come to Nivkata's Crossing actively hoping to join up with one of the various groups trying to establish a new kingdom in the Stolen Lands. Unfortunately, he has no links with any groups that recently started their work so that is the best approach that he can think of to participate.
He has been in the Crossing for a couple of weeks without luck. But at least the locals know why he is there :-)

Quintessa raises a perfectly arched brow at the band of nobodies comment, her lips curving into an amused but faintly sharp smile.
"A nobody? Truly? My dear GM, your penchant for underestimation is almost charming. Rest assured, when we succeed in taming the Greenbelt, you'll find Lady Quintessa Orlovsky etched quite firmly into the annals of Brevic history, and in a much more favorable light than whoever penned this insult. For now, however, I’ll graciously accept the role of an incognito visionary.
"Come along, my merry band of nobodies!"

Thanks for the submission. How did Zartana end up at Nivkata's Crossing?
She and her band were on their way to get to the meeting but they were attacked. Delaying them due to her companions being too wounded to continue and had to either stay or turn back completely
She on the other hand had no intention of backing off. So due to the delay she is late and wound up at the Crossing instead of being able to attend the main audience

Sorry, I had never shared anything with Pathbuilder so I thought it would work out. This I think should now be good, but let me know if not and I can work on it more.
Lady Delena Surtova
Interesting submission. Why is Lady Surtova in a backwater like Nivkata's Crossing. With all of her energy directed towards reinstatement, why would she join up with this band of nobodies headed into the Stolen Lands? Assume the charter they have is a secret, unless they wish to share it.
Oh dear, had same kinds of ideas as Zartana and Panas. Honestly, I didn't copy this:
Lady Delena had heard of the call for adventurers willing to take part in settlement of the Stolen Lands. Now, as an outcast in Brevoy and member of the losing side in Taldor, this seemed like the most promising way forward. The shortest route from her last residence in Taldor to Rostov is through the Stolen Lands, so that's the route she took. But, unfortunately, her travelling team got attacked during one night. The others were killed or captured, but she managed to get away thanks to her darkvision. Untrained in survival, she continued forward by sheer determination until finally ending up in Nivkata's Crossing.
Her original plans were to find the most promising team in Rostov and try to ally with them, or just to cause chaos and try to grab whatever opportunity pops up.
In any case, her luck in Taldor ran out, and she decided to let things cool down there while checking if something would be possible in the north, be it Brevoy or the Stolen Lands.
She is not fixed to reinstatement, in that she doesn't actually care if her position is in Brevoy, Taldor or somewhere else. She also doesn't care that much what the position is, nobility is just the most natural one in the world. Also, rising to prominence in many other fields with low means requires a long time of work in the system. The new lands offer a faster way, and it suits her nature better than working in a stable society.
Edit: I left the names out (except for the family Surtova) out as they should fit the world, and GM should have a say.
Also Edit: Delena possibly has seen Quintessa at some point, during her father's search for allies in Brevoy. Some social events, dinners, dances, whatever. Delena is 25, and spent the last few years in Taldor, so it might be that Quintessa was one of those annoying kids when they met. Of course, she might have seen also any other nobles.
Third Edit: So, basically, either she heard of the settlement plans, but missed the start (I presumed this was a general invitation). Or, if the news of the settlement plans didn't reach Taldor, she is escaping Taldor and getting back to Brevoy, and the route goes through this place. She doesn't have any ties to this group of nobodies (and Lady Orlovsky). She needs allies and they are as good as any.

Mulamba Veen is an illegitimate daughter of a southern Brevoy farmer and an female orc merchant. She thinks she never cared much about her parents' heritages, but they define her as a person. Too human to be integrated as an orc in the caravan and too orcish to work with close-minded humans, Mulamba never managed to feel welcomed in either societies.
She started her life trying to live off the land, by herself. She learned how to survive and how to be friendly with animals. However, she always felt like she was getting too distant from the civilized world, but never knew how to get closer to her brevic side. The only thing she knew how to do was pray. She prayed to the many totems her mothers' group kept, but none responded. Her pleas were too different from what these totems represented.
It was in a dream that a connection was made. In a late Fall night, she dreamt of power. She saw herself represented by shifting patterns that made it clear what it meant to be independent. As she woke up, she realized that despite living by herself, she was still letting herself be defined by her heritage. And the way to write her own destiny was the written word itself. By learning how to read and write, how to work the written word, there was no limit to what she could achieve. Scripts were how laws of civilization were formed, but also how memory was kept, feelings immortalized and a name become eternal.
She took this as an important lesson, and when she realized what she was doing, an actual monkey was teaching her how to write, and how to learn. She was thankful at first, diving into her lessons furiously. Then, she started to wonder who was behind that monkey's eldritch knowledge. As she asked, he only replied with a sound that she interpreted as Kartaugh. So she started calling the monkey that name, but was still not satisfied. She travelled south, to the unknown lands of the Stolen Lands, thinking that such a mysterious entity would be in uncharted land. How wise this decision was, is still to be seen...

Looks like I forgot to Ctrl V the name Nivkata's Crossing. This is what I meant in the end of the backstory.
Tarondor
I would love to throw my hat in the ring. I've been really wanting some Kingmaker 2e!
I'd like to offer Sir Agravale, the Green Knight.
Agravale has spent most of his life as a squire to various knights of Brevoy but when he was knighted a year ago, he set out to seek adventure as a knight-errant. He was raised as a minor son of a cadet branch of the Lebeda family, his only inheritance the weapons and gear he bears, as well as the skills of a fine horseman.
In truth, Agravale is a descendant of House Rogarvia, his great-grandfather was one of the few not taken in the Vanishing, though no one in the small family knows why. Agravale was raised on secret stories of that heritage, but gives them little weight, preferring instead to forge his own path to greatness. He travels the land seeking a purpose, helping right minor wrongs as he seeks his destiny.
Personality: Sir Agravale is honest, but capable of great subtlety and subterfuge in war. He is not reckless but would be willing sacrifice himself in a great cause. He feels that great things await him. He is not vain, precisely, but he demands proper recognition of his station and is very aware of social status.
Character Build I'll be using the "Rogue/Cavalier/Sentinel" build from my guide: Tarondor's Guide to the Pathfinder Second Edition (Remastered) Rogue.
Mechanically, the character is a rogue, but in practice he is a mounted knight. He's just really, really good at hitting his enemy's weak spots.
Nivatka's Crossing Sir Agravale is at Nivatka's Crossing because he has heard of bandits in the Stolen Lands making travel and trade difficult. As a knight errant, he has decided to dedicate himself to ending this scourge by any means necessary.
