The alley itself is unremarkable - if there was any evidence here, it has since been removed. Once you are there, however, you can see an out-of-the-way juncture on the border of the vault beyond the holographic border. Here, the Joros’ community aesthetic fades, revealing a complex network of metal pipes, circuitry, and scaffolding akin to the rest of Salvation’s End.
Anock |
"Hmph! I suspect that will be rather difficult while we investigate that area past the edge holograph. I'll bring up the rear." Anock volunteers. "Who's going first?"
When searching and unable to see, Anock will use her 30' blindsense.
cmlobue |
Leaving the peaceful-seeming Joro habitat, the Starfinders find themselves in a facility with a network of industrial hallways with scattered bits of machinery. The ceilings are all 12 feet high and the doors are steel sliding doors. The lighting is normal and provided by overhead lights throughout the complex. There are numerous security cameras throughout the facility (small purple lights on the map).
All passageways leading off the edge of the map have lighted signs reading 'beyond the scope of this scenario'.
Anock |
Anock brings up the rear, all senses alert for Joro thugs. She thinks it's amusing that Omega is trying to be stealthy, what with all the security cameras everywhere, but decides to play along in case the guard(s) monitoring them have fallen asleep or something.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
cmlobue |
The door is indeed locked.
Anock notices that the cameras have additional equipment attached to them - each also contains a speaker and what looks like a hole for a projectile to emerge from.
Irres |
Irres will slide along the wall to the security camera till she's underneath it, and then try disabling it or, if possible, making it send a static image of an empty hallway.
Engineering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

Engineering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
cmlobue |
Which camera are you working on? Each purple dot is one. There is one just east of your token location and one to the south near the door Omega is examining.
Mizzrym' |
Mizzrym' stays back letting his comrades working on the camera one by one.
Better to take care of these camera before getting in.
He looks around, with his weapon ready.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Anock |
"Absolutely! I'm keen on being targeted by whatever projectiles they're designed to shoot at us. Irres has the right idea." Clumsy start, but they look like they're more confident now. If this works, I'll put in a good word for them, too.
Thesh Joskor |
Thesh works on another camera.
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
cmlobue |
Irres disables the camera closest to where Omega stands. Thesh easily locates a second one. Computers or Engineering to disable, or damage to 'disable'.
The Starfinders hear a familiar voice from loudspeakers throughout the facility. "That's the sort of cam-do attitude I expect from outsiders. Well, cam-don't here, but there's more of us than there are of you. How about you stop that and I'll find something better to do with you?"
Not a typo - puns and evil go hand in hand.
Anock |
"'Cam-don't'? Really? Ugh! You're trying too hard there, Joro-whatever-your-designation-is." Anock remarks dryly.
She continues telepathically to her team, repeating the same speech to each one in turn (because everyone should hear her brilliant speech, but it wouldn't do to let the thugs know what the plan is). "All right, time for us to get to the bottom of this! Wherever the doofus is who thought threatening us would cause Starfinders to back down is an ignorant ninny. We'll go through this area systematically, disabling as many of the cameras as possible before they interfere so they have huge dark areas on their monitors. Once they send bodies to investigate, we incapacitate and interrogate until we learn what we need to move forward." She gestures for the team to move out, but vaguely, so if they go in a direction that ends up being troublesome, she can blame them for going the wrong way. And of course, she takes up the rear.
Irres |
"Agreed, we ain't got the numbers or the gear to dig em out yet."
She makes a fake call on her comm link.
"Control, this is ground unit Beta. Requesting heavy infantry and flame weapons. ... Roger that Control, Ground unit Beta out. Damn it! Techs just started maintainence on the power armor, gonna be 20ish hours before they're ready to move."
"That should help. They're either gonna try to reinforce their defenses, or they'll try to make a break for it. If they hunker down, we'll be able to dismantle the cameras and start clearing them out. If they rush us, they'll be disorganized. Easy to take down a few, and the rest should run after they start taking losses."
Irres replies to Anock telepathicly.
Anock |
Anock's first reaction is indignation. They should've run that by me first! However, it's a decent enough plan, so she tempers her reply. "Good idea, but next time run it through the crew first. 'Cooperate' is one of our mottos, after all."
Of course, doing that in PbP is a great way to kill momentum, so thanks for just doing it, Irres!
cmlobue |
Irres' message does get a response. And luckily for her, the camera near her is disabled, so she doesn't suffer the consequences.

Dart: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
Piercing Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 3, 4, 1) = 24 plus Fort save vs. ???
Thesh is hit with a dart filled with a strange liquid, and the lousdpeakers come to life again with a cackle.
"Join the winning team - team Joro - or the winning team will join you!"
cmlobue |
"ooh, what a temper!" comes the familiar voice from speakers farther within the complex. "But we could use some more aggressive players for the whizdisk teams. We just need to make a few little changes to make things fair."
Anock |
'A few little changes'?! It seems so far-fetched to think that they could turn anyone into a Joro. Even a shirren? Anock shudders at the thought of becoming a human male (especially that thinks socks with sandals is an acceptable way to present oneself in public), but keeps it to herself. If her assumption is wrong, she'd look a fool in front of her subordinates. Instead, she summons her courage, marches north, draws her pistol, and takes a quick peek around the corner to check for cameras. Spotting one at the end of the hall, she quickly fires at it, then ducks back around the corner.
Azimuth laser pistol (F) vs. camera circled in light blue: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 191d4 ⇒ 2

The Joros are all non-binary. Whether this would be worse for Anock, and what implications that may have for relationships, is an exercise for the reader.
Anock takes a shot at one camera. It sparks a bit but does not seem to be broken yet. Hit, but not enough damage to destroy it. The voice does not seem to have anything to say about this.
Ω-CloudChatI.Q.Prime |
Omega is mildly curious about how they would plan to bridge the gap between synthetics and organics, but that moment of hesitation lasts a mere 0.68 seconds.
Should we continue to eliminate the cameras?
Holy Underwater Living Red Star Plasma Array: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19, for 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Electricity and Fire damage.
Thesh Joskor |
Thesh looks worried at the Joros but will follow their teammates' lead and will shoot at the same camera that Vomatian shot at.

Irres moves closer to the camera, but hesitates a moment as the other Starfinders combine to smash it. It seems like 30 feet is the maximum range of the dart thrower.
Fortitude Save, Thesh: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Thesh shakes off the effects of the injection.
"Yes, yes, shooting is fun - everyone always wants to be the forward. New players need to take a turn on defense first."
You can hear movement from beyond the doors to the east.
One round of actions each before things start to happen.
Anock |
Anock hustles to rejoin the group and summons her nanites to form a cloud. (light blue rectangle)
Thesh Joskor |
Thesh runs behind the forklift. Nothing to be able to boost stamina unfortunately....
Thesh has 0 SP and full HP atm....

The door to the north opens. Two creatures that are vaguely humanoid in shape and the same coloration as the Joros you have met, but lacking the detailed features you would expect of a human, wait behind it.
The eastern door of the room you were inspecting before opens, but you cannot see what may be within from your current positions.

The gun makes a brief whining sound, but nothing comes out. "Gah! Stupid piece of junk!" Making me look inept in front of my subordinates! She shakes it, whacks it, and hopes that jiggers it enough to make it work again.
Thesh Joskor |
Thesh steps back at first, not realising they were coming from the opposite direction and fires.
