Kimmo |
Kimmo relaxes from his rage, the wounds he's taken making themselves known. "I'd, ah, like some healing before we go on, in case we run into anything else dangerous down here."
Search the area.
Kimmo |
I recommend that Sunshine cast a 3-action Heal to take thecedge off most of thevparty and use Battle Medicine on Kimmo, while Kidron uses Lay on Hands on Kimmo and Battle Medicine on himself. We can wait for Kidron to refocus if any of us are still down a lot.
Kidron Quintus |
Had to go back to the last screen to see who was hurt
Battle Medicine on leshy
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
2d8 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7 healing
battle medicine on self
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
2d8 ⇒ (3, 7) = 10 healing
Once more on the barbarian
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
2d8 ⇒ (5, 7) = 12
Gros |
Gros being unharmed, starts to look at the gremlins bodies for anything interesting "Gros thinks these blue guys don't look like witches, maybe they are witch lady's minions?"
Sunshine of Happiness |
Sunshine casts a heal for everybody, restoring their vitality for a measly 1d8 ⇒ 2 HP. She also heals her companion for 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (1, 6) + 16 = 23 HP from Heal Companion and refocuses.
Sunshine only has Rank 1 Heal prepared.
Sunshine investigates the area for clues. "So what do we have here?"
Kimmo |
Before I update Kimmo's HP, does Kidron have an ability that allows him to use Battle Medicine on the same person more than once per day, or Treat Wounds on the same person more than once per hour? Otherwise we're going to be here for a while. (That was why my proposal was Treat Wounds once on Kimmo, then Lay on Hands.)
GM Batpony |
After defeating the swarm, and having some well earned rest, the group searches the area and finds a small pile of junk and minor treasures collected by the Gremlins. The treasures while invaluable look like they belonged to adventurers.
Beyond the distance, you heard some scuttling noises, along with a few whispering voices.
Sunshine of Happiness |
DC 13 Nature: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
These blue-looking gremlin creatures are mitflits. Self-loathing and pitiful cowards, easily bullied into servitude by other creatures or even slightly more powerful mitflit leaders." Sunshine tells them after recalling something about the creatures. She continues to explain that they tame insects, spiders, and other small vermin to serve as faithful allies.
Mitflits have lost most of their ancestral magic, leaving them to feel incomplete and full of doubt and insecurity. Mitflits find companionship in the other base creatures of the world, and forge strong bonds of friendship with vermin, the only other beings that seem willing to accept them. A social structure, even one in which they are bullied, partially fills the hole within most mitflits' personalities, and they rarely rebel or last out unless their rage hits a breaking point.
"So they are not the ones we are looking for, I suppose?"
Kimmo |
Kimmo shakes his head. "It sounds like they would serve a stronger master, and not do these things on their own. Although...." He thinks a little more. "Maybe that stronger master wants to be left alone for their own purposes, and have used the mitflits' abilities to train bloodseekers to take advantage of the Mosquito Witch tales? I don't know."
Kimmo |
Kimmo nods, possibly smiling (it's hard to tell, because the corners of his mouth turn down). "My sword didn't do much good against the swarm. Is there a better weapon for those things?"
GM Batpony |
As you discuss among yourselves, shadows of a bunch of mitflits in the darkness scream out in the undercommon language.
A few coins of gold and silver are thrown your way.
Kimmo |
Starting at the impact of the coins, Kimmo quickly recovers when it isn't followed by any real attacks. "I, ah, don't speak your tongue. Can any of you understand Common?"
Also, did the mitflit leader use a weapon like the shortsword we found earlier?
Sunshine of Happiness |
"I don't understand them." Sunshine shrugs. 'But they are giving us coins of gold and silver!" she then starts collecting them while making sure they do not hit her.
"I wonder what they are rambling about. Maybe they know anything about the Mosquito Witch."
EbonFist |
Almost a dozen mitflits slowly edge out of the darkness in front of you, many of them even smaller than the others, suggesting that they are children. None are armed and none are threatening. One moves a bit more forward than the others and manages to speak in very broken common.
"Mosquito Witch real! Mosquito Witch scary! Seen red glowy eyes and heard buzzy wings in darkness! Real!
"Gwibble," and here they point at the body of the fallen leader. "say that be scary for Witch make Witch happy. But now Gwibble dead and Witch maybe not happy!
"We use talky with bugs to make like we Witch. Clever, clever."
"Don't hurt us! Us sorry! Us not be scary again!"
Further questioning doesn't reveal much else. They have no idea about the causes of any of the weird occurrences lately except for to suggest they were caused by the actual Mosquito Witch.
Haru is waiting when you get back to civilization, but only long enough to thank you. "I appreciate what you did for me, but Lasarte is still out there, somewhere, and I have to find him," she says, before rapidly departing.
Andor is still weak from his ordeal, but with your help, he is able to get magical aid. He fully recovers, but is far from gung-ho.
"I'm...going to take some time to think if this monster hunting thing is right for me," he says quietly as he departs soon after his recovery.
Everything seems to be getting back to normal and things are quiet when there is a sudden rumble and crash in the distance that ends as quickly as it began.
An investigation finds that the entire mitflit compound has collapsed in a cave in. A small, intricate paper doll is found in the mud nearby.
