Sasha and Elisabetta are going to scout out Luthor's home with the eye for entering and exiting with the least amount of kerfluffle. Mechanics-wise, we'll take the three Risky rolls.

I have no idea where this week went! How can it be Saturday already?!
@Elisabetta/Sasha - what Action rolls do you want to make for the scouting/break-in?
@Kyra - it sounds like the break-in is Sasha & Elisabetta, but if you think Kyra has something to add then by all means throw her into the mix as well :)

I think Kyra could help! She could try to distract some of the guards with a Sway/Consort - perhaps in her boy disguise, pretending to be looking for work.

I guess I am having a hard time understanding exactly what's happening and the difference between this being a Gather Info attempt vs this being the actual Errand to discover what the deal was between Corvetto/Bastien. Why break into Luther's house at this point? We've no real idea where to look for his safe or stash of docs. If we are just casing the house, then why break in with the use of 3 risky rolls?
It seems like Kyra's idea of Consorting with the guards is perfect to get us number of guards and maybe even the location of the docs and any special protections that might exist. If she rolls well.
If we want a back up plan, then Sasha and Elizabetta could just as easily approach Luther in disguise (Skulk) looking for him to broker a deal, but needing to see how he plans to keep their information 'secure' before they can decide to go through with the deal. Again, depending on the roll.
At the very least, all we might need to do is spend time on a Survey to observe and watch the House from a location with a view of his study/office. That should get guard info as well and also has a good chance of finding his secure spot for docs.
That is three potential rolls, but we wouldn't need to make all three unless the first two failed miserably. But it all kind of feels like we are getting bogged down in a bunch of planning and setup which the BitD/CoB system is supposed to avoid with the Engagement roll. A good engagement roll means we did a good job scouting out the house and locatng what we need. A bad roll means we couldn't get the info or maybe made him suspicious with all the attention or whatever.
Sorry if I'm missing something but 3 Risky Action rolls with potential consequences just for a Gather Info is a lot of potential harm/consequences this early on.

I think we're all leading this towards the errand for the Corvetto/Bastien line being breaking into Luther's house. Liz seems to have jumped forward in an attempt to get things moving again faster. I agree with Sasha, but looking for information too much is going to kill the game so...
Sasha makes a good point re. the engagement roll - should we just roll that and get on with the big heist?
Wandering GM Wastrel
What you're really trying to do here is get information on what Corvetto wants from you in order to carry out the actual errand. One way of doing that is to break into Luther's house and grab the plans, which in BitD (which is much smaller scale) would be a score in itself. Court of Blades works on a larger scheme, so it made sense to me to offer the chance to get the information you needed with a few action rolls instead of using one of your three available errands on something that is really quite trivial.
In my view, this is too small to be an errand but if you want to make it one then we can do that for sure.
Remember that your goal right now is to find out what deal Constantin made with the Corvettos so that you can then go and do whatever was agreed to. One option is to break into the house but there might be other ways of doing it.

If anything, it's my fault - I thought it would be interesting/fun to present a scenario where you guys needed to find out what you were actually supposed to be doing, give you a chance to showcase your investigative skills. Of course, since we're all new to the game it just ended up being confusing.
My bad. Live and learn, I guess?
Violetta di Valori
I think that, as you said, its more a question of scale. Given that most of us seem to know BitD a bit, but not this we didn't have the right scope. Combined with not being clear about what we needed to do it's all been a bit confusing! No'ones fault, just not enough experience yet!
We'll get there!
That being said, I think a little more guidance would be nice at the moment so that we don't stall irrevocably.
Violetta di Valori
Ok... feels like we're stalling.
Let's revert to Liz's original plan. She and Sasha are going to case the joint and hopefully get in and out for information. Is that going to be three risky rolls or can it be mitigated/made easier in some way?
Once we've got that info (or lack thereof) we can plan next steps.
I suggest the rule of two - as long as someone seconds a plan it is considered to be THE plan. So as long as someone agrees with me then we can get started!

So what do I get if I second the plan? What? Yes of course my vote can be bought. ;)
Kidding aside, yes, I second this plan. Now we just need to know what specific rolls need to be made before the flavor text gets written. (Which is wherein the fun resides.)
