Kardin watched with a discerning eye. It was just as he thought. Let the first sucker win so everyone else would think there was easy money. Make a show of the game being profitable to hook in more players? And then? Then it would be time to clear out the mine. He kept his counsel to himself, but it was clear that he was not impressed.

Looking at the rolls she picks up a set of dice and looks them over, but more from curiosity than any knowledge of not getting cheated. After a few moments she tosses the dice, hoping for a good number.

Luck on my side?: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6

Herala jumps up a bit excited, shaking Jairdan on the shoulder as she won. Somewhat? She then realized Terion had a better roll, but she still did beat the man. Perhaps she didn't get the game right.

"Look! I won. Did I win? I think I won!"

She clearly was excited to have won something, even if it was a small game of chance. Perhaps this would be a good start to their adventuring with each other.

" That is true, but rhe young hero won the pot." Furnoch says pushing the 3 silver to Therion.

"Care for another round? Double or nothing?"Furnoch says wide smile on his face as he places two silvers down.

”Interesting.” Kardin said. ”Your dice disappeared and reappeared in the same motion as the coins.” The dwarf added, matter of factly. ”So, are they new dice? And was it sleight of hand, or be ye an artificer as well, and made a tool for it?”

Herala seems disappointed that she didn't win, muttering something about how this is typical of her luck. She doesn't take it too hard, but rather it seems she remembers all the times Jairdan or Terion bet her at some sort of task, either physical skill, luck, or knowledge. She just accepts her place isn't in games of skill, but she does look for more money, before realizing her place here. She was not here to gamble away her money, rather she had other task to attend to. She plays with her few remaining silvers saying " I would enjoy more games of chance, but I can not. I have a duty to the people here to be responsible, specially with money. A priestess needs to be approachable by all, tolerate all but evil, and give to those who need it, wisely." Her last words sounded a bit rehearsed, as if it was something she studied. She did however have many task here she needed to do, and caring for her neighbors, even old ones, was important part.

She does turn to the group, her face a bit curious to the answer they may have. " Speaking of spending money, I also must stop for the simple fact that I may have to take over task here. Without a cleric, evil may creep in, and I have a duty to stop it. What if this is a test to see if I am suited to be on my own? The Goddess works in mysterious ways, and the elders all knew I was coming, they had to give permission." She looks over her friends, who knew her from when she could walk, to the new people. She had to protect them, she knew it. " I need to check on the temple, see if anything needs doing. We should check the job board, then I will go check it out. I may need to use the money to fix things, or buy supplies for it. I will try to restart services properly."

Herala mentioning her task had Jairdan sweeping the copper that they had taken out back into their hand and then pocket, getting a read on the others at that announcement. A silver was a fair amount when one was used to dealing with copper. There was a small fond smile at the familiarity of feeling that her dedication evoked, as they had tried, but were not suited to much else, especially physical tasks. Still, the board could be useful. Perhaps there was someone that needed sums done, or something copied.

Raising an eyebrow when the 'cavalier' announces that the third roll would be for an Eloectrum, Boram quickly turns towards Kardin when the dwarf speak about the fellows dice disappearing and reappearing. Turning towards the gambler, Boram glares for a split second. Turning towards Herala, he asks, "Herala, wait a second and I'll go with you."

Turning back towards the 'cavalier' he responds. "Let's make this simpler." He reaches into his own pouch and pulls out his own dice. Rolling them on the table. "Here Use mine, their not hot and I'm not playing."

Not noticing anything out of hand, Boram watches the rolls. As Terion wins again the halfling smiles, he was glad his new friend was winning and wondered if the fellow would press his luck. He paid close attention, watching Terion. It's important to know if the man you're standing behind is the sort to stop when he's ahead or insistent on pressing forwards. Boram had heard of lots of 'gambling sorts' who died young, that's why he like dwarves, slow and steady. Smiling when Herala says she's done, he nodded when Terion explained why it was time to end. And even better he was ready to go look at that job board.

Extending his hand out to Furnoch for his dice, Boram nods to his new friend "Well done Terion, one more drink then the board."

Resisting the urge to move too fast, happy to sit and chat and drink or swig it down and jump out of the chair and run to the 'job board'

"I have not been far! Terion I have just been.. a...a few days journey! Surely that is not that far! I managed to walk back." Which was true, the wear of the travel was clear to see on her as the dirt from the road was still fresh this day. She hadn't really seen her friends since they all got old enough to pay for their own ales, and here she was trying to see the board to go on an adventure. She blushes some and thinks about how bad of a friend she was, she cared more about killing goblins than seeing her friends.

Others are 'Dazlyn Grayshard and Norbus Ironrune seek aid in our excavation of Deep Mothers Vault. Inquire at the Stonemasons house"

"I seek brave souls to Investigate why Gnomegarde isnt responding to our trading caravans. Talk to Melubb the Moneylender"

These are the the ones available.

As Boram read the sign, he realized the job for Bandits would make things much simpler. He'd been wondering how he would introduce himself to his mother's old acquaintances, apparently all one needed to do was head to the keep and ask about hunting bandits. Turning he looked at the others, "What do you think? Head to the Keep and ask about hunting the bandits?"

Female Tiefling HP 11/11, PB + 2, AC 15, Init: + 1, Perception: + 5, HD pool: 1 Fire Resistance Flaw: Near Sighted (Needs her glasses)

"I would agree with that. Perhaps checking the caravans and then the vault if something has already been done about the bandits. People need trade, and I do worry about them as well. But the caravans and the bandits may be connected, maybe see if both can be tackled together?"

This was a bit more than she had planned on, she was not sure she could kill people, but a job was a job, and evil was evil. Maybe it was just a misunderstanding she was sure, nothing more than that. She clearly was not really sure on this path, but she was going to go with her friends on their choice.

" I think the group may leave us if we sit and drink all day though. We should check out the board, then set out tomorrow on the quest. Or who knows, it might even be one that starts tomorrow anyways?" Herala was really interested in the board, as she was not old enough last time to read it or even help, and now she was curious as to what her former town needed help with.

M Half-Elf Warlock 1 HP 7/7, PB + 2, AC 13, Init: - 1, Perception: + 2, HD pool: ?

Jairdan looked around at the enthusiasm that everyone had and took another sip of the same ale that was still three-quarters full. A small trick that had been picked up from copying a book that had journal entries of a Magister Sorceror made their ale the flavor of early summer strawberries, and if Herala had noticed, the same trick could make her ale the flavor of her favorite drink. It was tempting to prank Terion with it as well, but he was the core of the enthusiasm here, and it would have ruined the comfortable enjoyment.

The confidence that everyone was showing was encouraging, and while Kardin did not say too much, that was something that could be appreciated, as they too had been content to simply be present, feeling the atmosphere of the tavern around them. A slender hand was raised as they turned to leave, then returned to the mug since holding it on the table was something to do. The slight curve of a smile stayed briefly, before thoughts of the board returned. There was a difference between goblins and bandits, and sorting through the feelings that brought up was something that was likely visible on their face.

Kardin wasn't exactly what you would call 'charismatic.' He was blunt, he was forward, and he was single minded. But when nobody stepped up, it left it to him to fill the silence. Not sure what to tell the doorman, Boram rolls his eyes at Herala's question. He should have foreseen that they would want a 'business' name. Nodding in agreement with Kardin's explanation, he felt bad about rolling his eyes, how was a half elf raised in a convent to know about companies. Hearing Kardin come up with 'The Company of the Sun' Boram thought about it, repeating it a couple times in his head. Not bad, not bad at all. He'd speak to the others about shortening it to 'Sun Company' maybe. First, they'd have to see how the 'first mission' went; seeing it like sort of an audition. Smiling to himself figuring whoever lived passed and was in the company. Leaning in towards his cousin, "Sun Company, I mean 'Company of the Sun' you just come up with that or have you been chewing it around a bit?"
