Oshari Soteria, Health & Safety
|
Oshari, who usually would take a moment to map out the best course of action, finds that it might be best to simply run as fast as he can.
With the nanobot sheath, I'm slightly more likely to make the athletics than the perception. Just slightly.
Athletics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Officer Wilson
|
Wilson whistles. "Domehead, run!" However, the creature, possibly smarter than her master, has already taken off in a run.
Domehead Athletics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 Speed: 40 ft
Wilson Athletics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Pogo and Howland
|
Life Science: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Pogo recognizes the katura as well. He wastes no time ducking under the foliage and beating feet toward the cave, with Howland zipping along nearby. Howland helps by keeping an eye on the location of the katura and steering them toward the trees that offer the most cover.
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
| cmlobue |
Asgrok easily identifies the creature, but cannot make out a pattern for its strikes just yet. Pogo sneaks forward while Wilson and Oshari set out at a run.
The katura swipes at the contemplative who is falling behind.
Tendril: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Bludgeoning Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Round 2 - bolded may go
Same checks as before, but after your checks going forward, if you are successful, you can also make an Aid Another attempt for another character. Regardless of whether the Aid attempt succeeds, you will take a -2 to checks on your next turn.
Asgrok (220 feet away, -5 SP, -4 HP)
Wilson (190 feet away)
Oshari (190 feet away)
Pogo (190 feet away)
Katura
The creature will not try to eat the drone, so it does not need to roll.
Officer Wilson
|
The dinosaur continues running toward the cave.
Domehead Athletics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
I would have to sacrifice my action to give it another action to aid, but it can just move on its own.
Wilson continues running. He grabs the spool of titanium cable off his belt, hooking the carabiner on the end onto one of the metal loops on his armor. He spins quickly, hurling the spool toward Asgrok and shouts, "Grab hold! I'll drag you along!"
Wilson's Athletics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Wilson's Athletics Aid to Asgrok: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Pogo and Howland
|
Pogo and Howland moan in sympathy toward the wounded and perhaps doomed Asgrok. Wilson seemed to be doing an admirable job of helping him, so the mechanic and his drone keep moving below the tree line and underbrush, hoping to avoid detection.
Stealth DC 14 to remain unseen under the cover of the trees
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Unfortunately, he hits a barren patch and must run out in the open for a space.
Oshari Soteria, Health & Safety

Oshari will continue to run as fast as he can.
Athletics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Asgrok augmented paradox
|
With Wilson's help and some first-brain knowledge of what to watch out for Asgrok tries again to predict where the creature will strike next.
Life Science: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 2 = 30
| cmlobue |
Wilson rushes ahead, taking just enough time to toss a line to Asgrok. The contemplative uses this advantage to dodge out of the way of the creature's reach. Pogo and Oshari have less luck progressing through the forest.
Tendril: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Bludgeoning Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
The creature swings a tentacle, striking the fleeing ysoki.
Round 3 - bolded may go
Asgrok (160 feet away, -5 SP, -4 HP)
Wilson (130 feet away, -2 to check)
Oshari (160 feet away)
Pogo (160 feet away, -6 SP, -4 HP)
Katura
Asgrok augmented paradox
|
Life Science: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Asgrok thinks to themself "Why isn't science working?"
Officer Wilson
|
Wilson shouts, "More running! Less thinking!"
Wilson's Athletics w/ penalty: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 - 2 = 13
Domehead also continues running.
Domehead's Athletics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Pogo and Howland
|
Pogo groans in pain at the thumping from the flying whomping katura. He tries to find more plant cover.
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
He gets out of sight again, slipping through some fern-like patches that arch over his head. Howland keeps pace.
Oshari Soteria, Health & Safety
|
Oshari continues to run as fast as he can.
Athletics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
In lieu of or in addition to an aid another action, can Oshari use Reactive Repair on Asgrok (a swift action)?
| cmlobue |
Yes, you can use swift actions. Basically, you are using a full action to move (which includes your skill check) and aid is a swift.
You can even do other things with your turn, but trying to reduce its HP to 0 will not work. If you want to do that, I will add the results retroactively.
Asgrok stumbles once again, and Wilson also has trouble keeping up his pace. Oshari sprints forward while trying to assist his companion, and Pogo once again vanishes among the trees.
The katura continues harrying the trailing technomancer.
Tendril: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Bludgeoning Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
The tentacle glances off one of the trees before reaching the contemplative.
At this point, it seems clear that the creature is only going after whoever is farthest from the cave.
Round 4 - bolded may go
Asgrok (130 feet away, -5 SP, -4 HP)
Wilson (100 feet away)
Oshari (100 feet away)
Pogo (100 feet away, -6 SP, -4 HP)

Officer Wilson

Realizing the creature isn't targeting them, Wilson whistles for Domehead to return to him. As he waits, he reels in the cable, hoping to draw Asgrok as close as he can.
Standard Action: Drag in Asgrok. Not sure if this counts as an "aid" or if it's something different. I am literally trying to move him as much extra as possible this turn.
Athletics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Move Action: Mount creature.
As Domehead reaches him, Wilson climbs up into the saddle.
Swift Action: Grant Domehead a swift action to aid Asgrok.
Domehead's Athletics to aid Asgrok: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Domehead whips around, aiming back toward the cavern, tugging even more at the rope to help Asgrok move quickly.
Pogo and Howland
|
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Pogo and Howland continue to scramble along under cover of vegetation. He plans to distract the beast with some laser shots once he gets closer to the cave.

Okay, Oshari will use his swift action to use Reactive Repair on Asgrok, so for the next minute ze gets fast healing 1 and 1 temporary hp per round (stacks I believe).
Ariadne extends a tendril, her face one of concentration, touching Asgrok and spreading her nanites to heal zis wounds. She then offers a thumbs up.

Life Science: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 2 = 17
With Wilson's help and Oshari's nanites feels like ze might have a chance.
not sure but Asgrok and Oshari might need to be at the same range from the cave for Reactive Repair to work? If by chance I out pace Oshari this round Asgrok will keep pace with Oshari.
Oshari Soteria, Health & Safety
|
Technically that was last round, when Oshari was in pace with Asgrok, I just needed GM confirmation that it would work.
| cmlobue |
Oshari delays a bit to help Asgrok, and they end up together.
Pogo rushes forward under cover.
Wilson spends all his effort helping the others, which draws the creature's attention to him.
Tendril: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

Apparently katuras really don't like cooperation.

Wilson spurs Domehead to run, crouching low in the saddle.
Athletics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 40 ft speed
| cmlobue |
If Oshari succeeds, one of you (likely Wilson) would take one more attack, then be able to reach the cane without checks next round. Oshari could also choose to fail this round and still have to roll in round 6, ut draw the attack himself, or move less than his maximum speed on a success to draw the attack and still get in the cave next round.
Round 5 - bolded may go
Asgrok (10 feet away, -5 SP, -1 HP, 3 temp HP, fast healing 1, -2 on round 6)

I'll give Oshari another 12 hours or so, then bot him to just run as fast as possible (rather than choosing for him to accept extra danger).
Oshari Soteria, Health & Safety

Sorry, getting back to school after break, but I should be back to a good schedule soon.
Oshari will hold back a bit, hoping to get in the way of the creature and his allies.
Athletics: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8

Oshari falls behind and gets swiped at.

Everyone but Oshari can make it to the cave without a check, so can roll to assist Oshari. A success on Oshari's next roll ends the encounter.

Sorry, misread cause I was on my phone. Here's my aid roll..
As soon as he gets in the cave, Wilson hops off of Domehead and says, "Go help him out!" Domehead trills affirmation, then takes off in a run, trying to distract the creature to help Oshari get into the cave, and then darting that way herself.

Enough that you succeed.
With the encouragemnet of the other Starfinders, Oshari makes it into the cave just as the katura has to pull up to avoid smashing against the rocks. It squawks at its lost meal for a few moments before flying away.
Asgrok (-5 SP)
Wilson (-24 SP)
Pogo (-6 SP, -4 HP)
You have time to rest, then you will need to decide if you want to go back outside or explore the caves more deeply.
Officer Wilson

Wilson holds up a hand. "Yeah, I definitely need a break, then I say we check out these caves before we risk heading back out there. There might be a safer way out."

"Despite the healing I got from Oshari, which I would like to thank you for, I could use a short rest too, all the calculations flashing through my brain counting all the ways we could have died out there has left me exhausted." Asgrok plops to the ground and remains still while they repeatedly calculate 0+0=0 over and over.

Caves sound like a good idea, best to give that creature more time to wander away from here first before going back out."
Oshari Soteria, Health & Safety
|
Oshari stumbles into the cave, pausing to catch his breath with his hands on his knees. "I... am not... as young as I used to be." he gasps out. Ariadne, on the other hand, is much more enthused, waving pseudopods like fisticuffs at the retreating beast.
He sits down to drink some water, looking down deeper into the darkness. "Ordinarily I'd say no, since we don't exactly have the proper PPE for a caving mission, but it's probably better odds than that thing outside. What'd you call it, a... cat tiara?"
| cmlobue |
The Starfinders rest up, then prepare to head into the caves. As they are about to begin their expedition, A group of twelve thin, bipedal figures emerge from deeper within the cave. They have long ears and wide eyes, with a thin layer of pale fur of various colors covering their bodies. They dress in tight utilitarian clothing and carry weapons that look like plasma batons. One of the figures steps forward and speaks to the agents in a language they do not recognize.
