About Pogo and Howland#105836-702 Background:
Pogo was born on Absalom Station and grew up in the Sparks district. He demonstrated an aptitude for things mechanical and computers as he worked jobs he could find as a youngster. This earned him better jobs and these jobs gradually included training in engineering and computer programming. But he really began to stand out when he got the chance to test drive some fancy space racers. His piloting skills made him stand out and his engineering know-how translated into the ability to help the designers improve the design. Eventually, he got a chance to be the primary racer and design consultant. When the company that was sponsoring the team decided to withdraw from the sport, Pogo found himself without a job for a while.
He tried to scrounge up enough money to start his own space racing team, but a series of accidents and calamities left in owing money to the wrong members of organized crime. He managed to scrounge up the money to pay off his debts by joining a team of archaeologists who had a lead on some pre-gap artifacts. He mostly acted at the pilot and engineer of the spaceship, but in the end, they scored a big find and he was able to use his share to pay off the syndicate. But his foray into space exploration and artifact acquisition inspired him to join the Starfinder Society and the Dataphiles faction. He still wants to dabble in space racing, but figures he might be able to earn some extra money with Starfinder missions to help finance a new space racer team some day. His AI drone is a hover drone which he mainly uses to help him when he is working on engineering tasks. It can provide light and has manipulator arms and enough skill in engineering to do some simple work unsupervised. It also has a needler gun for self defense if needed. He made it resemble an owl. Appearance Fur is piebald. Tail has an intricate knot-work tattoo. Jacket has patches with names of space racer sponsors and space racer part brand names. Howland is made to vaguely resemble an Owl. Bypass Pogo gains a +1 bonus to Computers and Engineering checks. This has been added to his skill bonuses above. Cheek Pouches Pogo can keep up to 1 cubic foot of items, weighing up to 1 bulk, in his cheek pouches. He can transfer a single item between his hand and a cheek pouch as a swift action. Custom Rig Pogo has a customized handheld toolkit he uses to hack systems and items. It functions as the appropriate tool for any Computers or Engineering checks he attempts. If it’s destroyed, he can build a new custom rig from any technological toolkit with 1 hour of work. While using this rig, he always counts as having the appropriate tool or basic kit for any Computers or Engineering skill check he attempts. In addition, he can use his custom rig as a Mk I comm unit. Finally, he can use his custom rig to communicate over an encrypted channel with his drone to issue commands to its AI or directly control it at a range of 2,500 feet. Currently stored in his armor slot. Darkvision Pogo can see up to 60 feet in total darkness. Moxie Pogo can stand from prone as a swift action. When off-kilter, he does not take the normal penalties for that condition and is not flat-footed. Faction: Dataphiles:
DATAPHILES
"Knowledge is power." There have always been members of the Starfinder Society obsessed with the acquisition and distribution of data. For many, that is their primary reason for joining the Society in the first place. The Dataphiles are a faction of like-minded individuals who work to regulate the flow of information both inside and out of the Starfinder Society. Howland (Pogo's Hover Drone)

Mods:
Basic Mod 1: Manipulator Arms Your drone is equipped with two robotic arms with simple hands. They can perform most functions that your arms can perform (such as opening doors, typing on a keypad, wielding a weapon, or attempting skill checks that require manual dexterity), but attacks made with them take a –4 penalty.
Chassis Mods
Weapon Mount You can affix a small arm or another one-handed ranged weapon on your drone, allowing it to wield that weapon and attack with it. This weapon cannot be disarmed. Mounting a longarm, a heavy weapon, or another two-handed ranged weapon requires two weapon mounts. A weapon mount can hold up to two batteries, two magazines, or two of another type of ammunition for the affixed weapon, provided this ammunition is of light bulk or less. Multiple weapon mounts used to affix a single two-handed weapon count as a single weapon mount for the purpose of how much ammunition it can hold. The drone reloads these batteries or magazines automatically, which takes the usual amount of time for the weapon. Spent batteries or magazines are stored within the drone. You can replace all of a weapon mount’s batteries or magazines as a move action. You must purchase separately or already have the weapon and ammunition for use with a weapon mount. You can replace the weapon with any other weapon that meets the criteria for your mount (for example, if you have two weapon mounts, you could replace a longarm with a heavy weapon). Swapping out a weapon in a weapon mount requires use of your custom rig and 1 hour of work. You can select this mod multiple times, each time adding an additional weapon mount to the drone. |
