With just one very fabulous enemy remaining, Iladora rushes into the next room but waits for an opening before closing the rest of the distance.
Double move.

Escape artist, Grease: 1d20 + 2 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 10 = 24

Iladora and Bobbie rush into the other room to set up their attacks next chance they get.
Des squirms her way free of the grapple, but is still in the cage.
Only destroying the cage allows whomever is trapped inside to be free. Escape Artist does not allow you to leave the cage, it only allows you to escape the grapple, if you have been grappled. Destroying the big golem would logically also destroy any cages it created.
The eagles keep attacking, Inspiringly so even.
Eagle 1 Beak: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 for 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Eagle 1 Claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 for 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Eagle 3 Claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Nope, not evil. That version of smite evil is also not the paladin's version, so it doesn't bypass DR, or do any of the other paladin ability things.

"Well done so far, Paffys! Keep up the good work!"
She then guides her riding dog towards the last enemy.
"Rocky, over there! Rush!"
Ride - ACP: 1d20 + 3 - 0 ⇒ (3) + 3 - 0 = 6 (DC 5)
The bard then casts a quick spell at the floor right under the sepulcher warden. (grease, Reflex DC 16 or fall prone)
"The bigger they are, the harder they fall, right?"

Corba and Rocky move in, the former casting a slippery spell.
Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
It isn't super effective, sadly. (The jerk keeps all his good rolls for spell saves apparently)
Lini starts summoning an ally and keeps Droo close.
The construct bashes away at the eagles again.
Slam 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Slam 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 for 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 2) + 1 = 9
Bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
One eagle poofs out of existence and the second one takes a mighty blow, but remains!
The cage tries to grab Des again.

Light crossbow attack, incl. PBS, bless, and inspire: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 16
Figure that misses. Just in case it doesn't:
Damage, if applicable, incl. PBS and inspire: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5

This time, Bobbie seemingly has had enough. She lashes at the construct with all the might of her built-up frustration.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 10 - 2 + 2 = 22

Salvio unsurprisingly misses with his shot.
Bobbie steps in and gives a hard hack, chopping off a decent chunk of sinew from the creature's arm.

And with two mighty bashes from the earth elementals, the big construct collapses into a pile similar to the one you all first saw when entering.
The cage around Des also collapses, she is free!
Combat over.

![]() |

Salvio waits for a moment, seeing if the constructs rebuild themselves, and then when the parts remain still relaxes with a sigh. "I wasn't sure we'd be able to make it. Good job! Is everyone all right?"

Bit Player |

Lini shakes her head at Salvio's lack of optimism.
"You should have more faith in Mother Nature. The power of stone brings them down every time. Of course that is when fire does not work."

![]() |

Corba stops her performance and smiles.
"Good work, everyone! I had no weapon or spell that could have brought that construct down. I'm glad to have such capable allies!"
She grabs a handful of treats from a saddlebag and offers them to Rocky.
"Good boy, Rocky! You definitely earned your treats!"
Afterwards, she looks at the pile of bones.
"Does it repair itself? Our mission is to repair everything, right? So we must make sure if this includes the guardian or not..."

GM TOP |

Corba's unanswered question floats as a possible albatross over the group as they take stock of the current situation.
Most of damage from the prior agent 'seems' to have been repaired. And all the items taken 'seem' to have been put back in place. And considering the injuries the construct caused, it doesn't feel smart to wait around to see if it pops back up.
Heading outside into the night, the group notices the stone doors at the entrance have been broken. It should only take a couple charges to fix them.

GM TOP |

The large stone doors could be repaired on the ground or leaning against something. They are secured with long iron rods threaded through hinges on the outside of the doors, which would allow them to be opened outwards.

![]() |

"Are you okay?" Bobbie asks the sorceress. "That was some nasty fight. And you spent all of it in a cage."
"You should have more faith in Mother Nature. The power of stone brings them down every time. Of course that is when fire does not work."
"I wish I could have had more faith in my blade," A bit disgruntled, she sheathes her sword - after glaring at it one last time. It's not that she would complain about the construct being finally taken down, of course - but if only she could have joined in the action a bit more...
"Does it repair itself? Our mission is to repair everything, right? So we must make sure if this includes the guardian or not..."
The fighter briefly glances at the big heap of broken pieces where the guardian once stood. "I'm sure they'll know how to fix it," she says resolutely, in a tone that suggests she'll admit no counterarguments, no matter how sensible.
"Let's just finish repairing anything that's left to repair, and go."

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

After the doors have been set up, Salvio uses the stone to repair them. "Let's get back to the Shoanti and report. I don't know about you, but I'm hungry...for just about anything except ribs."

![]() |

Thanks for asking Bobby. You're sweet. I'm fine, thanks to Corba, who kept healing me. I'm not that much use in a fight anyway, but at least I did manage to summon some eagles, and that helped. A little.
Desynthia chuckles at Salvio's joke
A good meal would be welcome. I don't remember having tasted Shoanti's cooking yet, that's an opportunity I don't want to miss.

![]() |

"You're welcome, Des. And I think your eagles helped a lot!", Corba exclaims while still shoveling treats in Rocky's mouth. "Ohhh, trying Shoanti's cooking - I'm definitely in!"

![]() |

"Guess it can't hurt," Bobbie comments - and though she sounds unconvinced, her stomach gurgles in a way that suggests she'd be rather happy to try. "I'll take the ribs if you don't want them."

GM TOP |

The group happily closes up the sepulcher and starts the trek back to the meeting place. Surely the entire council and their retinue are preparing a hero's feast for them!
On the way they meet a group of Shoanti heading the opposite direction. Salvio quickly recognizes their garb to be that of the 'boneslayers', who have traditionally been in charge of the dead. And as you all of course recall from the mission briefing were the ones that found the damaged sepulcher in the first place.
The leader speaks, "Well, that was quick. Let's hope it was satisfactory. Head home, our leaders will send word to your agency of our report."
A hero's feast is seeming less likely.

![]() |

Bobbie slowly and silently counts to ten. "Right. Thank you," she replies, visibly struggling to keep the exchange courteous. "Let's go," she adds, addressing her teammates, before walking away... very quickly.

GM TOP |

The rightfully disappointed pathfinders keep heading back to the meeting spot. No meal there either, but they find their teleportation wizard has set up a small camp for himself and is dozing on a bedroll.
As the group gets within thirty feet a loud barking sound emanates from next to him and he sits up with a start. Yawning he speaks, ”Ah, you are back. All done?”

Bit Player |

Lini shrugs knowing that they could not have done better.
"We did a great job. It is time to get back home."

![]() |

"Each and everyone of us did a great job, especially Rocky here! He is a very good boy!"
Corba is enthusiastic about the accomplishments of the group - maaaaaybe a little too much when it comes to her riding dog (but he helps her move around so much faster!).
"But now were hungry and tired..."
She trails off and the enthusiasm in her voice is entirely gone now. You get the feeling that if the bard could summon a hero's feast she would do it in a heartbeat.
"...so if you could be so kind and get us back, please, that would be appreciated greatly, thank you very much."

GM TOP |

The wizard, who you never even asked his name*, packs up his temp camp, dismisses his invisible puppy and has everyone move in close for the spell.
*:D
It is less stomach wrenching as the last time, probably because you all are so tired. With a zorp and a swoosh you arrive back in a small lighted room in the grand lodge. He says, ”Middle of the night, not a lot are up. They have guest rooms for pathfinders returning from missions if you want. I’m headed to grab one. Probably get something in the kitchen if you need food. Or go find a tavern or street meat stand that is still open.”

![]() |

"Yeah, thanks for bringing us back safely!"
Food or bed... no question, food (and karaoke) it is!
"I'm gonna grab a bite and a drink at a tavern. Anyone coming with me?"
Corba is a bard and has even lower WIS, so midnight karaoke (right after a mission) sounds wonderful! ;-)
