Sorry for being gone for a few days. Had awful muscle crams as an aftershock of my New Year's case of Covid. Could've also been the stress. Hard to think of stuff to write when it doesn't let you sleep :D
Should be better now.

I immensely regret not having bought Alchemist's Fire.
Haha,... sobs

Paizo updated the site all day last Saturday and this upcoming Saturday.

Hey GM, can Henrika activate her Mesmeric Mirror trick in response to her getting attacked by the swarm? I realize I should have triggered it the first time she was attacked, but I was thinking it went off on a hit rather than a swing. If you'd rather not retcon things, I'll specify that it will go off on the next attack.
Normally, I have no probably retconning things that are missed, but in this case, it doesn't apply.
Mesmeric Mirror says: "An illusory image appears near the subject to throw off attackers. The mesmerist can trigger this trick when the subject is attacked or becomes the target of a spell that requires an attack roll."
The swarm's damage does not require an attack roll. It just automatically damages anything in its space at the end of its turn. If you had the mirror image up somehow, the swarm would ignore it anyway. If Dagio targets you, you can activate mesmeric mirror then.
Also, I realized that I forgot to add your Painful Stare damage. That does work. So I'll make note that Dagio has taken one more damage.

Henrika Karthis |

Oh, good catch! That makes sense. Thanks, GM.

Trevor Kastner |

Coincidently, the only other character that died in game, here in the forums, was a caydenite cleric being almost stupidly heroic.

GM Peachbottom |

I believe I still have line of sight on Daigo? Please let me know if there is intervening cover.
I'll say that he does not have any cover.
Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 6 FU<K YES!!
Nice. The party needed that. Unfortunately, without selective channeling, those rats swarms are also going to heal. Luckily, Trevor is lower on the initiative. Rat swarm (red) only needs one more damage to kill it and (yellow) is close too. If someone could kill one or both off before the channel energy, you'll be in a better place.
PS. Swarms are the worst.

Trevor Kastner |

Swarms like to kill low-level adventure parties.

FRIENDLY REMINDER
Paizo forums will be down all of Saturday, February 3rd. So get your posts in before midnight on February 2nd!

Liraela the Inkweaver |

So sorry about my lack of post yesterday, had some family business to take care of. Back to our regularly scheduled adventure!
Also, this fight is taking forever. I guess that's what we get for not having any AoE!

GM Peachbottom |

No problem Liraela.
Yeah, an alchemist's fire and someone with a burning hands or something would have dealt with those swarms faster. Or if you succeeded at you knowledge (nature) and had a bludgeoning weapon, bludgeoning weapons deal full damage to the swarms. But I think only Icabhod has one and no one knows about that weakness.

Henrika Karthis |

The fight does feel pretty epic, though! Certainly memorable, especially if we survive. ;)

Xallis Livara |

Funny enough, I think Navia's talons deal bludgeoning damage. But she's kind of in Revenge Mode over the rat!

Liraela the Inkweaver |

Away from my PC at work and can’t fully post until tonight, but Lieaela will be VERY interested in that relic ring. After level 3 I’ll be going into bard levels, and all of those skills will be perfect for the face character I’m building her to be.
Will be willing to give up the disguise wig, if someone wants it.

Henrika Karthis |

"I have definitely had my fill of oversized rodents. Let us hope that its passing into shadow heralds a new year of prosperity and warmth."
Happy Groundhog Day everyone!

Henrika Karthis |

Rodents Of Unusual Size? I don't think they exist.

Henrika Karthis |

Sounds familiar. ;)

Trevor Kastner |

Crap. Sorry.
Fixed the post. Still, would have been a good dig.

GM Peachbottom |

"Plenty of ways to head from here I think."
Assuming you are going forward instead of doubling back, you really only have the secret door. Unless Liraela thinks she can get lucky and pick the two locks again.
I haven't heard anyone say they were opposed to Liraela taking the ring, so I'll mark it as hers for now.
Let me know if anyone wants the pearl of power. It's good for any spellcaster.
Or if anyone wants the wig Liraela is offering back to the pool.
Oh, also, regarding Malphene. Assuming you get that last influence success, Malphene does have the potential to become a cohort or ally. Let me know if that's something you are interested in or if you'd rather she go on her own way. I can customize the direction of her responses depending on which way you want to go with her.

Liraela the Inkweaver |

Yeah, I meant it more as a sarcastic joke, sorry about that.
I wouldn't be opposed to having her hang around as an ally for sure, at the very least. Good to have any help you can in these trying times.

Henrika Karthis |

Someone else should try to influence Malphene! You can use Bluff, or Diplomacy, or Knowledge (nobility), and I think a few other skills too.

Trevor Kastner |

I don't think I can attempt to influence Malphene again. She's an interesting character. Initially proposed as a minor villain, tragedy has shown Malphene's vulnerable side. Trevor would like to show her better way to handle her alcohol, and as a possible romance partner.
Also, I'd love the envoy ring if nobody has a better argument to keep it. if Trevor can't have it, the pearl of [power is a decent door prize.

Xallis Livara |

Were you leaning into a more social rogue kind of character? I've been thinking of where to take Navia with future evolution points and getting big bonuses to stuff like Perception and Disable Device can fit her infiltration direction. But I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

I've got a weakness for those "enemies to friends" arcs, so I'm certainly interested in her sticking around. Xallis always appreciates allies amongst nobility, and Navia kind of sees her as a playful rival. Less so considering recent reveals about her emotional depth, but still.

Liraela the Inkweaver |

Were you leaning into a more social rogue kind of character?
I am! Liraela is a Deadly Courtesan, a vishkanya-only social focused bard-like rogue archetype that actually gets some bard performances that will stack with my bard levels. I just haven’t had a good chance to use it yet, since it doesn’t actually work in combat.
It’s why I claimed the envoy ring, all three skill bonuses will be incredibly useful for her.

Trevor Kastner |

I see. The ring and the wand were lent, plus the group gets 330 gp.

Henrika Karthis |

If you want to exchange the wand for the breastplate, I think we might all agree to that. :)

Trevor Kastner |

No. Something tells me we're gonna need that wand.

GM Peachbottom |

CL Check (Icabhod): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
CL Check (Henrika): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
CL Check (Liraela): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
CL Check (Xallis): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
CL Check (Malphene): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Impressive.
You know what. I realized I made a mistake. Wands use the caster level of the item, not the caster, so it should have been 1d20+5. But that still doesn't make it a success on Xallis. Poor guy.
