"Thanks, dearie!" Mrs. Crinke-Wolf dashes Desmond a sharp-toothed grin and a wink before laying into the blue creature.

Mrs. Crinkle is acting like a love-struck teenager. Who is also a werewolf. Someone should write a play about that.
Razzm, however, is not messing around. He slams his shield into the bluish creature multiple times, and as much as it tries to wriggle out, there is no room to escape from the wrath of the lizardfolk.

Mrs. Crinkle (-12 HP)
Anyone who examines the maelstrom painting notes parts of a torn page stuck to its back, where it had previously been concealed by the frame.
The western wall also contains a single square painting, 10 feet on each side, labeled “Illusion Garden.” This contains an image of the outdoor garden adjacent to it, rather than a creature, that matches what you saw in the crystal ball.

Clarifying: Would our PCs note that the "Illusion Garden" painting is just a painting of the garden, or that the cyrstal ball showed us something other than what we expected?
As soon as the baddies are gone, Mrs. Wolfy Crinkle begins shrinking. "Aww! The fun was just starting. Heehee!"Her voice returns to a sweet-old-lady pitch, her snout recedes, the fur shortens until it's gone, and she catches that stretched-out red sweater dress just before it gives anyone an eyeful. (Well, she has chain mail under it, but you can't see what else. Come to think of it... How did the chain mail stretch with her body, but the sweater dress didn't? Odd...) She begins bunching and tying up the once-again-voluminous dress and tying it up with slip knots, much as it was when she arrived. "Desmond, sweetie, you did such a good job patching me up just now. Care to do it again? I've got this little boo-boo here." She gestures to a ragged gash on her leg.
4 of that -12 HP was to her temp HP, so she should only be down 8 now that she's not raging.

"Of course, ma'am." Desmond sits her down and bandages her cut. "Now, please try to keep that area clean and away from other bites."

That is an excellent question. Which I can't give you the answer to yet. Both the painting and the crystal show the same space.

"Oh, thank you dearie! I'll certainly try, but you know how things go in this line of work, don't you? Heehee!" Mrs. Crinkle *might* have batted her eyes as Desmond. Maybe.
She glances around the room.
"Now! Let's have a little look-see at this place. Trashed, obviously, and that one painting may be letting things come through it like a portal, eh? Let's see here... Oh my! That painting there, of the illusion garden--it's exactly what I saw in the crystal ball for the actual illusion garden. Huh. That's interesting." She shrugs, then turns her attention to the damaged maelstrom painting. "Oh looky! What's this little torn page thingy?" She begins to carefully pull it out to examine it.

Bertram looked at his fingers as if they had betrayed him. It wasn't as if he had a lot of combat experience, but surely at least one of the darts should have hit? At least his companions were okay. Next time, he'd prioritize defense over offense and see if that made a difference.
As he looked around the room, he noticed the piece of paper stuck behind the maelstrom painting. He reached towards it, but Mrs. Crinkle beat him to it. He looked over her shoulder to get an eyeful - of the note, not Mrs. Crinkle - and then looked around for more signs of Alyreha's work.

cmlobue |

The scrap of paper does look like more of Alyreha's work, though it is torn in such a way that even the Arclord won't be able to make much of it with just the piece you have. Perhaps you can locate the rest of it somewhere?

"Say, did those thingies come out of this painting? Or somewhere else?" Mrs. Crinkle searches for the interlopers' bolt hole.

Desmond looks at the painting, trying to see if there's any discrepancy between the garden itself. "We should go out to the garden and check it. Then we can move something or simply have one of us stay there while we go back and check the images."
He pauses, looking at the painting. "Unless this automatically changes to fit the garden. That would be interesting."

cmlobue |

The Pathfinders find scraps of paper behind the paintings, enough to piece together another fragment of research for Alyreha.
Desmond notices that the painting of the garden does change, but only in subtle ways - such as the grass swaying as if a breeze was blowing, or a bird flying through the frame.

![]() |

@GM cmlobue: Did Mrs. Crinkle find where those creatures came from or left through?
"Ooo! Let's bring it to the garden and see if it's showing us exactly what it looks like out there!" Mrs. Crinkle snaps it up and begins marching out the door before stopping short. "Wait. Who knows how to get there from here? Dagnabit! We should clear the hazards before playing around, I guess. Oh well!" She sets the painting down near the entrance to the room.

cmlobue |

Mrs. Crinkle does not see an obvious door or passage. Probably a wizard did it.
Bertram is able to put his arm through the painting, and feels a breeze on it when he does.

![]() |

"Oh my stars! Bertram darling, you genius! Let me try! Heehee!" Mrs. Crinkle sticks her whole head through the painting, leaving her rump sticking out at a comical angle.

![]() |

Razzm eyes the painting with astonishment. "I guess maybe we should go inside. What could possibly go wrong?"

cmlobue |

What could go wrong is that Mrs. Crinkle is now half in the garden and half in the building.
Several statues of an adult Garundi woman at varying ages are displayed, each with a plaque describing an important event or reward.

"Do you want to go in? Or out?" says Mas, who's now holding Mrs Crinkle's pelvis.
What am I saying?! It sounds so lewd!

Mrs. Crinkle busts out in hearty guffaws. "Oooohahaha! Heehee! Hooo! Bahahahaa! Oh, Mas, you tease!" She gives him a cheeky wink and pops through the painting into the garden. Quickly, hoping to be finished before anyone else can see what she's doing, she tries to find an interestingly posed statue and slip the chamber pot underneath it. Heehee!

Bertram recaptures his spellbook and moved through the painting to follow the others. As he stepped through, the book coughed up a piece of paper. Looking at it, Bert said, "Okay, who is teaching my spellbook fart jokes? As if I didn't know?"
He inspected the statues in the garden with both his eyes and arcane senses to see if there was anything interesting about them.

In this area, there are several statues of Alyreha at varying points of her life, each one portraying a key event in her life. While there are no statues of Alyreha in her youth, there are several honorary pedestals with placards honoring major events from her childhood as well, with the name on each artistically scratched away.
A statue of Alyreha alongside her golem-bodied best friend Vrinchus stands out from the rest. Even from outside the garden, extraneous magical lettering is shimmering and visible on top of the mundane description on its placard.

![]() |

GM, when you say 'artistically scratched away', do you mean the names are scratched out? Or is that just how they are labeled?
Desmond follows the others through the painting into the garden. "Is that how we get here?" He looks around for any other obvious way back into the house.
He wanders over to the statue of Alyreha to read both the magical and mundane writing.

![]() |

Popping out from behind a statue with a notably smaller pack and a mischievous gleam in her eyes, Mrs. Crinkle replies to Bertram: "Well, Mas was getting fresh with me, so maybe you should ask him about it, dearie. Heehee!"
She takes the opportunity to check to see how to get back into the house. (Is there a hole or door or something where we came in? Or is it a one way portal?)

cmlobue |

GM, when you say 'artistically scratched away', do you mean the names are scratched out? Or is that just how they are labeled?
That is an excellent question that the scenario does not provide an answer to. I would guess it's part of the general vandalism here, though.
She takes the opportunity to check to see how to get back into the house. (Is there a hole or door or something where we came in? Or is it a one way portal?)
The Arclord neglected to hand a painting in her outdoor garden that would allow return travel. The front door presumably hasn't gone anywhere.
Zac looks at the names. Any from Pathfinder society?
Mas takes a look at the scratched names. What's there to read?
Alyreha, Alyreha, Alyreha...
Mrs. Crinkle has avoided this so far because she's looking at other parts of the statue.
You can attempt two checks each to escape. Suggestions include Arcana or Occultism to manipulate the maze's walls, Survival to navigate it, Athletics to push your way through, Perception or Will to disbelieve the maze's existence - though creative solutions are accepted.
Mrs. Crinkle is in this group because she was looking at other parts of the statues.
