This scenario contains themes of forced experimentation and mental manipulation. Please let me know if this is likely to cause you issues.

Hey, Aerondor, hope it's not too late to join. I'll double check Ears' information tonight.

Warah, good to see you again. The party was a little combat heavy or I would have brought Burn along.

While thinking about boon slotting, it is worth mentioning that the Bulwark Buster boon might be helpful...
Please let me know if you have and intend to slot it.

Where or how do we get the Bulwark Buster boon?

Lantern Lodge

It would be on one of your chronicles. I think it is from 2-06 The Stumbling Society, part 1: Sangoro's Lament.

Slotted:

AbadarCorp Acquaintance (Social Boon): [Respect]

True Savior of Tasch (Slotless Boon; Limited Use): 1 of 5 complete
SLotted Boons:

Friend of the Ghibrani (Social Boon): [Husk and Membrane]

Envar’s Attention (Ally Boon): During your mission to the space station Brilliance, you managed to impress Arch
Energy’s notorious chief procurement officer, Envar Tamm. How this influence will play out in the future is not yet
clear, but you have nevertheless ingratiated yourself with Envar Tamm—for good or for ill. You will be told if this boon
is important to a future scenario prior to slotting your boons.

Solar Powered Weapon System (Starship Boon): The files you retrieved from Brilliance also included blueprints for
experimental innovations by the Arch Energy Consortium. When you slot this starship boon, select a single weapon
on your starship with the word “laser” in its title; you gain a +1 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon. A gunner can
spend a Resolve Point prior to firing the selected weapon to increase the bonus to 4 for 1 round. A starship weapon can
be improved only by a single copy of this boon, but copies of this boon can be applied to different weapons.

Honorbound Allies (Ally or Starship Boon): You will be told if this boon is important to a future scenario prior to slotting your boons.

Second Seekers (Luwazi Elsebo)

Slotted Boons:

Ally: Dream Whispers (see Chronicle #3):
Because you researched its dreamspun tales, the Liavaran Dreamer known as Whisperer of Solar Winds has taken an interest in you. When you slot this boon, the Dreamer imparts some knowledge to you in the form of a cryptic comment that may prove helpful later in your mission. Once per adventure, any time you miss an attack or fail a saving throw, you can call up on the Dreamer’s mysterious message. You immediately count this roll as being 2 higher, which may allow you to hit your target or succeed on your save. If you roll a natural 1 on your attack or save, you cannot use this ability.

Faction: Second Seekers (Luwazi Elsebo) Champion
Social: Knowledge of Forgotten Military:
The weapons of Egoret Base are now available for use by the Starfinder Society thanks to your actions. You can slot this boon at the beginning of a scenario to represent further Starfinder exploration of the ghibrani base, as well as a deeper understanding of the destructive ghibrani weaponry. At the end of an adventure where you slot this boon, you can purchase any weapon with the radioactive weapon special property (Starfinder Armory 30) or a weapon with the irradiate critical hit effect (Starfinder Armory 31) at a 20% discount.

Starship: Weapons of a Lost Civilization (Chronicle #9):
When you slot this boon, select one light weapon onboard your starship and replace that weapon with a tactical nuclear missile launcher (Starfinder Core Rulebook 302). Alternatively, select one heavy weapon onboard your starship and replace that weapon with a heavy nuclear missile launcher (Starfinder Core Rulebook 303). This new weapon must go in the same arc as the replaced weapon, and only one weapon can be replaced on a starship by a boon with this name. The modifications are somewhat jury-rigged, and as a result, all gunnery checks using this weapon take a –1 penalty. Anytime you fire this weapon during the course of a scenario, check a box for the corresponding weapon. Once all boxes for a weapon are checked, you can no longer gain the benefits of this starship weapon (though you can still benefit from the first part of this boon).

Slotless: Memories of the Past:
On the planet Akiton, you caught glimpses of life before the Gap and visions of the
distant future, thanks to the time-bending Eternity Arch. Residual magic from the Eternity Arch clings to you. You can check a
box that precedes this boon as a standard action to use one of the following spell-like abilities based on your character level.
For any spell-like ability, use your caster level as your character level.

If you don't see me post after a few hours please bot me it's likely because my internet connection has been cut again. On Monday I had the phone company out fixing my connection and the repair tech cut the line to the entire neighborhood while working on my line. I woke up today and they had fixed it. Just an hour ago some other company put in a new internet pole in our backyard next to the current box and ever since I've lost my connection every 5 or 10 minutes.

GM Aerondor, would Profession: Archeology work in this situation?

Lantern Lodge

SFS 05-99 BftB

I'd have let you do it with a slightly harder DC. Some skill in moving stuff around in a careful manner after all is required for archeology.

But we are onto the next task now. You guys are making good progress. Essentially with six of you, you need to get to three successes and then can move onto the next obstacle.

From our PC's perspective:

Would fighting these creatures aid us in achieving our goals? Probably not.

Would spending the time to fight them and having to heal ourselves a bunch drain us of both resources, which are limited during this mission? Probably yes.

I, the player, don't like fleeing a fight, but my PC doesn't like dying more. So I'm okay with running if the group prefers.

I got grenades and area-of-effect spells if we can get them on a bottle neck some of my range-of-effects spells last for 4 rounds. The problem is I can't use them if the swarms are on top of us, although I've been known to drop a grenade on myself when surrounded, I can't do that to other PC's in organized play. So if everyone runs from them I can do see what I can do to them. If everyone runs for the bottleneck I can try to acid-myst it to stop them from going through.

Lantern Lodge

SFS 05-99 BftB

You are all acting together at the moment so you can delay as you see fit to get everyone into the right position to do acid mists or grenades or whatever.

If no one else has any area of attack options. I can cast acidic mist 3 more times and have 2 grenades left. Assuming I don't become nauseated. The other problem is using area of effects in such a way as to not also target other PCs. Jek makes a last stand might be our best option. wait until I'm down to try to save me.

Lantern Lodge

SFS 05-99 BftB

I can see no reason why you couldn't chain cast acid mist spells.

Note there is nothing to stop the swarms going right over the top of someone. But there is no reason for them to either... well, so long as there is not more things to eat further away :-)

I will try to get the swarms to not overlap each other though.

@ Option-8, I have the Remove Condition spell put it's range is touch. My movement is also slowed down due to weakness, so start moving close to me if you can.

Lantern Lodge

SFS 05-99 BftB

Mechanics wise, the hp damage comes from having to make a save vs the radiation in the creatures bites. So in addition to the normal sp damage you are automatically taking from them, you will be taking the three hp damage (and the poison/radiation save).

Warning: As you weaken from the poison, you will eventually need to start to make additional saves.

Lantern Lodge

SFS 05-99 BftB

It's a pretty brutal encounter this one, but you are almost through it now. Several other tables (of higher level characters) turned and fled this one. Which I know you wanted to do, but their good initiative kind of killed that plan.

That was brutal enough towards the end I was thinking what my next character might be. I think the radiation messed with Jek's head enough to think clearly, that Jek will be hanging back following orders from the rest of the team.

Are we still doing fortitude saves from the poison? If so I can attempt a medicine check for everyone to give a +4 to their saving throw.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Yikes. That was a tough one. I hate swarms.

Don't worry about Ear's attitude. He went way outside his comfort zone in that fight, largely because Jek was so selfless first. A little straightforward demo work should be just the thing to bring back his bon homie.

First time playing a scenario that has a clock and other tables not sure how all that works.

My thought on a bigger plan was that each step we succeeded at would contribute to the overall number of successes needed. But that's up to the GM if it works that way.

Or on my own, I can do 8 perception or survival checks, if that's something that can aid someone let me know. It sounded like the DC are higher so looking for ways I could aid others.

Jek can check in with Twila-5 as she heads into enemy territory and relay info from the other PCs to aid some of her checks while she's out there on her own. Someone could create a distraction or covering fire while she's in there. Just thoughts. Obviously everyone can play their characters how they prefer.

Lantern Lodge

SFS 05-99 BftB

While we are metagaming... 8 is like one off the best number of checks you could possibly get. Most tables are going to be trying to do this with likely 4 or 5 checks each.

And I think its okay to let you know you need to get at least 6 successes in total.
