Mimi looks over the display room, but not seeing any of Safa's tricks, moves to join Dennis in the gallery. She barely glances at whatever art is on display except to make sure it doesn't leap out at her in some manner. Looking forward to conversing with Casira again, Mimi doesn't waste any time and heads to the other end of the gallery. "Dees vay everyvone". She opens the door to the prayer hall with a flourish, fully expecting to find that all hell has broken loose inside.

Pathfinder Provisions ◆◇↺

A bronze plaque installed into the stone wall assures all visitors that, although this prayer hall was designed in deference to Qadira's patron goddess, travelers of all faiths are welcome within. One side of the double door currently stand open, and through it echoes the light refrain of a song that would seem more at place in a tavern than a house of worship.

Inside, three rows of pews and three of prayer rugs flank a carpeted aisle leading straight to the altar, above which hangs a life-sized wooden statue of Sarenrae in her traditional pose, her arms and wings outstretched. The statue is also the source of the music, as the wooden goddess' mouth moves to sing a bawdy, blasphemous ballad about Sarenrae, her lovers Desna and Shelyn, and the sorts of things they get up to during a weekend bender with Cayden Cailean.

A tall man with ash-gray skin stands at the altar, his cold, silver eyes narrowed upon the statue. Sarenrae's holy symbol dangles prominently from the chain around his neck. Agdal Karga?

Those detecting magic do sense it here.

The first step to counteracting the song would have to be finding the source. (Perception to Seek)

But while someone is doing that, someone else could try to diffuse Agdal's anger before he bursts. They could try overpowering it with a song of their own (Performance), or maybe recite the traditional prayer that the song satirizes, speaking the proper words every the bawdy lyrics (Religion or Sarenrae Lore to Recall Knowledge; +2 circumstance bonus to followers of Sarenrae).

Agdal is very offended by this blasphemous affront to his deity. Pennypockets tries to abate his anger by... offending him more, while also possibly threatening him a little.

It works! He's entirely distracted. "Pay with.. No, don't break it!"

When Mimi hears the bawdy song coming from the statue, she smiles broadly and starts humming along with the familiar tune. She'd heard it often in taverns, especially when there were a lot of Cayden Cailean devotees like her present. She's about to join the statue in the rousing chorus when she spots the apparently very upset Agdal Karga barely holding himself together under the blasphemous assault. She stiffles her merriment and while Pennypockets does his "best" to either calm (or perhaps infuriate) the gentleman, Mimi looks around to try and find the source of the singing.

There! On the back of the statue's neck, there's a small rune about two inches across that has no business being there.

Physically reaching it would require standing on the altar. It's large enough to stand on easily enough, but the matter is slightly complicated by the fact that there's a life-size statue hanging over it--it's not a huge problem, but it is kind of in the way (easy Acrobatics check to balance).

Getting up there with the right tool shouldn't present too much of a risk of damaging the statue... (Crafting or Thievery; the statue is damaged on a critical failure)

Someone could also try to knock or cut the rune, maybe even from the floor with the right weapon! Of course, that might be a little harder to do without damaging the statue, especially if the weapon isn't suited for precision work. (Attack roll. The AC is low, but the statue is damaged on any failure for a Finesse weapon, and on anything but a critical success with any other weapon)

If someone was able to counter magic, that could certainly do the job as well.

She manages to scratch out the rune with no damage to the statue. The song is silenced immediately, sharply interrupting a rather generous description of a gancanagh accompanying Cayden Cailean.
Critical success on Acrobatics, successful Thievery.

"Er, wait. Were they humans or goblins?" the high priest asks Achurius. He shakes his head at the sudden silence. "Yes, yes you're right young man. That is good. I admit that Qadira is a land of strange and unpredictable magic—I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions and blamed your Society for this outrageous display."

The storage room contains cleaning supplies, leftover construction materials, training dummies, crates of parchment and ink, and other sundry items needed for the Society’s day-to-day business. Nothing here seems suspicious.

As the Pathfinders head back into the courtyard, they're greeted by a few raised glasses. "Excellent party!" someone says, and "Looking forward to the feast!"

Mimi opens the doors to the lounge, and sees another mini disaster for her to deal with.

A dozen or so guests in fine clothing make good use of this cozy lounge, a space designed to fulfill exactly this purpose. While one trio in the corner seems fairly embroiled with their card game, the rest form a rough cluster near the center of the room, clearly enjoying the drinks that have been so readily provided.

The heart of the party seems to revolve around a young elf whose wispy, sunset-colored hair floats around his head, betraying an ancestral connection to the plane of air. He seems, at first glance, to be performing some sort of mime routine. Certainly, his friends seem to take it that way, egging him on as he presses his hands flat against nothing, feeling out the shape of the invisible box pressing in on him from all sides.

To the slightly less inebriated eye, however, the expression on the young elf’s face is clearly not one of amusement, but of barely-controlled panic. His stance is rigid, his chest heaves, and his knees begin to shake. Whatever he thinks is happening to him, it must feel very, very real.

A light breeze whistles past the Pathfinders and no one else. The breeze carries a whisper. "Oh no. This one is my bad. I didn't ensnare Khayrat al-Maren on purpose, I set a trap to catch whoever stepped on that spot. If I had known I'd bind a geniekin, or a severely claustrophobic person, let alone someone who's both, I'd have done something else. Sure, someone could have gotten a little singed in the lava room, but I didn't mean to traumatize anyone. Er, you'll never defeat my last nefarious trap, Pathfinders! ...quickly please."

While Khayrat seems to be seeing something different from what anyone else is, he does seem to be reacting to things in the room that suggest he's at least vaguely aware of sounds. Perhaps someone could coach him through understanding that it's an illusion (Arcana or Occultism), calming breathing exercises (Medicine), just talk him through the fact that what he's seeing is illogical and can't be real (Diplomacy), or some other idea.

Hmm. But maybe someone should distract those other guests first (Deception, Performance, or Society).

Not fog, exactly. I went for a blue shadow because the map is fairly orange-y so I thought it would mute the colors a bit.

As the Pathfinders start to move, the lodge suddenly falls unnaturally quiet as though the party has completely ceased. Wherever they were trying to walk to or from or to, they find themselves in the northern part of the courtyard.

The color of every surface and object has taken on a muted tone. the constant hustle and bustle of the party that has been ever-present is simply gone. Everyone else, from the guests to the staff to other Pathfinders, have vanished. The party is now completely alone in Sedeq Lodge.

Moments later, a breeze ruffles past and carries the whisper "Be ready."

I'll assume everyone draws their weapons. If there's anything else you'd like to do that hasn't been stated yet, feel free. You have two rounds before:

The Pathfinders hear a burst of cruel, mocking laughter before a high male voice begins shouting angrily, reverberating through the eerie halls.
"Pathfinders! Your desperate attempts to secure allies are disgusting. Such pathetic fools! You have no place in my city. If you were truly strong, as I am, you would not need allies at all--you would command servants to do your bidding! I, Fasiel ibn Sazadin have become a genie binder, in spite of the Society's meddling! I shall soon be master of Sedeq, and I shall start by eliminating you!"

The voice grows quieter, but no less angry. "Safa, I command you! Bring me to the battlefield!"

Safa appears above the fountain, hovering with their head tilted to one side as they consider the command. "Of course, Fasiel. As you wish." A man walks out of the courtyard's maintenance closet. He wears the garb of a Qadiran aristocrat, and his two antlers protrude awkwardly from his lopsided hat. His face is a deep, unnatural red. He shouts, "Summon a powerful minion for me, then stay back! I'll show these Pathfinders myself what it means to be a true genie binder!"

Safa furrows their brow, then grins. "A minion. Of course--your favorite kind." Safa weaves magic through the air. A gout of flames roars up from the fountain, and a muscular, twelve-foot-tall horned woman with flaming red skin and smoldering eyes steps forward. Fresh bits of charred flesh cling to her flaming scimitar. "You dare to summon me, Safa?! Shouldn't you still be skulking about in the ether?! Explain, now. Or die."

Safa shrugs, points at Fasiel, and says, "He did it."

Fasiel shouts, "Marvelous! Yes, it is I!, Fasiel ibn Sazadin, who commands you! Efreeti, obey my--"

The flaming woman screams in irritation, cutting off Fasiel's words. "Shut up, skelm! You disgust me. I have no time for this--Safa, don't ever do that again."

With another roar of flames, the efreeti is gone, and creatures of fire and steam pour out of the fountain. Safa winks and vanishes.

One of the elemental creatures, an enormous rat formed of smoldering cinders, scampers closer. As it moves, the smoke billowing from its body forms more of a cloud. This cloud engulfs both Mimi and Fasiel as it approaches.
The rat has an aura in a 5-foot emanation. Anyone within the aura is concealed. Anyone entering or starting their turn there must make a DC 22 Fort save or be Sickened 1.

Still the fog doesn't seem to hinder the rat itself. Chittering mischievously, it snaps its jaws at Mimi--though not before biting Fasiel first. "I am your master!" he howls as he tries to put out his cloak.

The other elemental, an imp-like creature made of steam, giggles and hisses as it flies over the melee.

Given that Safa was previously unable to reveal his name, presumably due to his orders, it is not clear why Fasiel expects the Pathfinders to be familiar with it--but his wild ranting is still a little frightening.

He lowers his head. "Look at what you make me do! Debasing myself. Using these disgusting antlers as a weapon!" He swings his head. It's a well-timed swing that Mimi wouldn't have been able to avoid... but in the smoke, he's not aiming at quite the right place.

"GENIE!" he roars, "These elementals are getting in my own way! Get rid of this smoke!"
"As you command, Fasiel," says Safa's voice. A violent burst of wind disperses the choking smoke. The oxygen only seems to heat up the hissing cinder rat, but it'll take at least a few seconds for that much smoke to build up again. And as the smoke blows away, everyone can see Fasiel, who was clearly unprepared (but may have been the focus of the gust), tumble to the ground under the force of the wind.
