Welcome aboard, Everyone!
Good to hear you're doing well after the car accident, Shadow Dragon.
Looks like we'll be playing subtier 1-2.
Please place your PC icon in marching order on the first slide and fill out the little dice expressions on that same slide sometime before Wednesday afternoon. I'm in US Mountain time zone, btw, which is GMT -7. We might start Tuesday if everyone checks in and ready before then. It looks like a couple of you need to complete PC profiles, though.
As soon as I notice RPGChronicles is back up & running, I'll post the link to the sign up list.
Feel free to get started with introductions in Gameplay.

Wait until after the mission briefing to purchase supplies & magic items. Some goodies will be supplied to you.

@GM: Sorry, didn't mean to throw you for a loop there. Please don't take Nistivo too seriously. 99% of what he says and does is just for personality flavour, and I don't actually expect any mechanical benefits.

GM Roll4initiative |

No prob, Nistivo. ;)
Yikes! on those knowledge checks, though. Hopefully Lanel or Grilgoth will do better.

@GM Roll4Initiative - The knowledge checks jogged my real life memory a bit and now I realise that I have played this scenario as a Core game about two years ago. My character will be quiet about any decisions out of combat. :)

GM Roll4initiative |

Kakikko can sell you nearly any mundane or alchemical gear, in addition to magic items with a cost of 2,500 gp or less. If you decide to pool your money for item(s)...
If the PCs buy an item using pooled money that they do not use during the adventure, one PC may purchase the item at the end of the adventure, paying the item’s full cost. If no PC wants to purchase the item, the PCs must sell the item back for half value, reimbursing each PC for half of what she paid into the pool.

Just an early heads-up that on Friday I'll be away on the interesting sequence of a camping trip followed by a casino trip. I'll then be back on the following Wednesday. Please bot me as necessary--thanks!

![]() |

Leaving soon. Keep up the good fight everyone, and get that treasure for Nistivo :)

Have fun! A camping & the casino trip sounds like a great time.
I'll make sure Nistivo gets all the treasure. ;)

GM Roll4initiative wrote:@GM: I'll try to do better in the future. My eyesight sucks so I'll just turn up the magnification and write better notes.Lol. You guys are having a heckuva difficult time with the map.
Grilgoth, there is a wall (as explained earlier) at the top of the steps to the right of Patros. I added brown lines to show placement of walls. These walls block line of sight. A PC will need to get through the door in front of Patros, or be in the spot Patros is currently at, in order to see or attack an undead. I'm not going to bother with difficult terrain going up the steps.
No worries!
I use my little old smartphone for everything. I have no idea what the slides look like on a normal computer. I figured if I can see it (somewhat) clearly, others can too. I have a background in architectural & industrial design so I've learned how to picture 2 Dimensional maps/schematics in 3D, which can be quite difficult for others. If this was an in-person game, it'd be much easier to explain. I'm a terrible typer too. I never learned how to type on a keyboard. Just typing away one letter at a time with my thumb here on my Motorola phone.

You're doing better than me especially with the tech aspect. :)

@GM Roll4initiative - The border you placed around the staircase (on slide 4) of the map was really helpful. Personally I am terrible at visualising shapes in 3-D but solid at mathematics and logic otherwise.

Like Nistivo, I'm apparently a world traveller too (though somehow I never return with riches!). My posting will be a bit hit-or-miss next week, but then will settle down for the rest of the year.

Ok. Thanks for the heads up.

Excellent! That makes it easier to sacrifice Nistivo to the Kraken to appease the Gods. ;)

Maybe he had a house call?
Sorry I could not resist. :)

Lol!!! My milk shot out my nose!

We can always bot him until he returns.

I did PM him. Hopefully we'll hear from him soon. Will bot until then.

GM Roll4initiative |

if anyone gets handsy, I'm chopping it off...lol
Dammit, Grimdog! I laughed so hard I spit my beer out and knocked over the pint glass!

GM Roll4initiative |

I would say to save the rolls for now. If Lanel's 30 didn't work, better to use it for the inevitable fight.
It's not that it didn't work, there's just more to it that I can't tell you yet.
Well, lovely.
I didn't get it set up at the start of the scenario, but I've almost certainly got shirts and a player folio for rerolls, would I be able to use those?
Save it. The intimidate check angered the dragon enough to initiate combat. I'll get a post up soon.

Would I get swept into the whirlpool if I stepped into the water? I have an ability that lets me heal in water.

GM Roll4initiative |

You'll be fine in the water. You just need to hold on to something to avoid being knocked about by the waves and strong wind. There's a bunch of debris flying into the rift but it doesn't actually go in. it just crashes about and falls back into the water, gets sucked up again, and repeats. It's just churning everything about in the cavern.

Dr. Avery Bellows... will it blend??
Shaken, not stirred?

GM Roll4initiative |

It appears that there's some confusion about the missing Pathfinders. Sorry to rain on your parade, but, they're not here. :(
In the mission briefing, Benarry told you...
The Pride’s captain was Jaheem Quinn, a half-elf with a magical knack for the water. Not a wizard or such, but I’ll be damned if the water didn’t do what he asked when he asked it. I hired Jaheem to take our agents on a mission to the Gloomspires, and neither he nor his ship ever returned to Drenchport.
Then, you learned from Jaheem's journal...
Jaheem’s journal contains an account of the ship’s last mission, detailing the departure of the Pathfinders’ landing party, the crew growing restless waiting for their return, and eventually the crew’s outright mutiny as the weather grew worse. Jaheem’s last entries describe the ship’s collision with the reef and his intent to try using his water-related powers to escape his imprisonment: an attempt that clearly failed.
The Pathfinders were dropped off at the Gloomspires (where many Pathfinders have been going to explore, see below), not here at the reef or the Sea Grotto. After dropping the Pathfinders off at the Gloomspires, his ship sailed back here to Tempest Cay and wrecked on the reef nearby.
As an aside, there are 4 awesome scenarios—kind of a 4 part arc—that take place in the Gloomspires:
#6-06: Hall of the Flesh Eaters
#7-19: The Labyrinth of Hungry Ghosts
#8-15: Hrethnar's Throne
#10-17: On Sevenfingers's Sails
In fact, I might run all of these as a mini campaign in the near future.

Oh, that's okay. I'm happy to assume we (in-character) misunderstood things--it happens to me in real-life all the time :)

![]() |

I thought I read about missing crew, thought they were Pathfinders so it's probably my fault. grimdog73 should be along soon to agree with me. :P

Dr. Avery Bellows... will it blend??
Considering he has a checks sheet 9 constitution? Almost certainly.

Yikes a fragile one.

Still need Patros to fill out his RPGChronicles info >>HERE<<.
You'll soon be back in Driftport hitting the taverns or whatever you want to do to celebrate your success.
Go ahead and make those Day Job rolls, everyone!
Also, I need some help editing the chronicle pdfs after I get them into a shared Google file. Is anone able to edit the pdfs for me? A couple boons & the high tier rewards need to be crossed out.
Thanks!

I would help but I've never edited PDFs before. :(

@GM Roll4initiative - Assuming that someone cannot help you with the PDFs then we can simply manually cross off the missing boons ourselves with a pen or a pencil. Perhaps I am a dinosaur but I simply print out the chronicles and put them in a binder with my character. :)
I am assuming that we just resolved a combat encounter non-violently so I will mark it off on my Season reward sheet.
Grilgoth has no day job as well.
Thanks for running.

GM Roll4initiative |

I can later tonight or over the weekend. Send me the list to cross.
Cool. Thanks! I'll send you the link later on Discord.
Hopefully Patros will fill out his RPGChronicles info soon. *nudge, nudge*.

I do the same. I like to have physical copies.
I've had some issues before, though, where people wanted the little XP, Fame, and GP boxes initialed.
I really need to get myself a computer or laptop.

GM Roll4initiative |

Thank you for playing, everyone! I hope you had as much fun as I did!
Thank goodness your PCs did not swear fealty to the Tempest Monarch. Wait 'til you see the negative boon on the chronicle. It's a doozy! Probably the worst negative boon I've ever seen on a chronicle.
I'll get the game reported this weekend (probably tonight) and will post a link to the chronicles in this thread soon.
I think I'm going to run another 1-5 scenario starting in a week or two. Probably another short one like this one so it's finished before that Gameday PbP Con coming up.

Day Job Profession (merchant): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Embarassing! Nistivo needs to read the Prophecies of Kalistrade better!
GM & Players: Thanks for the game--super-fun, and I'll look forward to another one.

Profession (Librarian): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Thanks for running this, I had a lot of fun! Sorry if my posting wasn't as frequent, I think I'm not used to games that run as fast as this one did.

Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
A familiar rotting fish appears on Nistivo's shoulder, "And you said I stink! Muahahaha!"
