Hey, I'm sorry, but I've not been in a good headspace for this lately, and probably should have said something by now. I agree with the decision to remove Gurnevan, because it's obviously not fair for me to hold everyone up. Enjoy the rest of the adventure, everyone! Maybe I'll see some of you in some other game when things are a little more smooth.
Your alias ("Qidan") is in the current characters list; your main ("-Ed-") I assumed posted accidentally at some point and ended up on the current characters list, so I bumped it to inactive.
I can put it back if you want. I do scan the characters page every once in a while if the scenario calls for targeting the character with the highest AC or the closest non-human character or something so I pull up Characters to do a quick scan.
No problem. -Ed-s just my main handle and the one that opens by default on my browser so I can see all my threads at the same time (and check for new messages) instead of having to click on each Alias for every game.
Backstory for Qidan: Upstairs, in the first level, the group opted to leave a barricade intact, and did not find out what was behind it. Fibek's suggestion is to go back and do that room, which may give enough XP to level up.
If we play at level 2 that locks in the build for the character doesn't it?
No, it doesn't. What happens in the APs matters little to nothing to your PFS character ... say if you play abomination vaults complete you'll get up to level 10, yet you'll only get like 12xp for your PFS character slot. You can even play a wizard and give the xp to your gunslinger ... it matters not.
Magic Missile bonanza! I never did the math (I've GMed it a couple of times now) because I always wanted to find out just how much you can do with it. Hence when I saw this pbp I just jumped in to see it =)

Question alchemist dedication:
Archives of Nethys has infused reagents equal to level. Some sources list Int+ level as base alchemist. Which is correct?
And familiar can grant another which is awesome.

Hey folks! I’m back.
For our 35th anniversary, the wife and I took the kids to the Black Hills and Yellowstone National Park. Saw the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Jewel Cave, Devil’s Tower, the Bighorn Mountains, Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. We saw bison, bears, bighorn sheep and elk up close (relatively) and even (supposedly, I’m not sure) a mountain lion at some distance. Despite our best efforts, we saw no wolves.
A came home with a bonus gift: COVID. So I’m taking things slowly, but I’m getting back to my games today.

i do wonder if he is still around.
Considering the amount of games he's played I doubt he's just gone silent ... I hope he's ok.
I'm fine, COVID aside. I did say I was going on vacation. I got home on the 21st at midnight and here it is two-and-a-half-days later with me checking in. Not really a "death-like" delay! But thanks for thinking of me. When people check out without a word, it does worry me. But I did give word!
Having seen how the dragon decimated the summon with such ease, Qidan ...
I'm not sure if this was meant as flavor or not, but from a strategic perspective, I'll point out that the summon was a fantastic success, despite only lasting half a round.
In 2E, summons are always weak relative to PCs. You're always summoning creatures that are 2-4 levels below your PC level, so especially in boss fights (where the enemy is 1-2 levels above your PC level), they're going to get 1-hit killed, a lot.
But that's fine.
A lot of bosses rely on a 2-action or 3-action special attack to reach their full potential. Khaldan's 3 actions in summoning delayed the breath weapon by a round, which was HUGE. The dragon otherwise would have Strode ◆ and Breathed ◆◆, so you all essentially got a free round (12 free actions).
Unlike 1E, summons (and minions in general) are niche. Use them to deal a damage type you otherwise couldn't deal, or use a special attack you don't otherwise have access to, or just to harass an enemy to waste their actions. They will never (ever) be able to actually fight for you, except for summoners and eidolons.

I was hoping to stop it from biting someone but that's a great result!
I've been surprised by how much damage the summons have done in this adventure - I was putting them out there mostly to tie up the monsters with something else to do other than attack us (e.g. the spear throwers) - saves on healing.
