Grayeson makes his weapon extra-stabby, then stabs with it.
Estes hits once with a wing, but the second attempt fails as the creature falls to the ground.
Jomanrhen leaps onto the platform where one of the duergar is preparing to fire a crossbow from cover. That attempt is cut short when the crossbow is cut short. As is the duergar.
Technically, I don't think you can charge because of the elevation increase, but I'd hate to see a roll like that go to waste.
Studley's javelin gets good distance, but doesn't go anywhere near an enemy.

You combine an attack with quick grappling moves to throw an enemy off balance as long as it stays in your reach. Make a Strike while keeping one hand free. If this Strike hits, the target is flat-footed until the start of your next turn or until it’s no longer within the reach of your hand, whichever comes first.

Studley moves forward and jabs the green-clad duergar. While she is distracted, Graeyson lodges a dagger in her back between the fourth and fifth ribs.
Haohji moves forward and clokcs the red-clad duergar in the jaw. This gives Jomanrhen the perfect opening to slide both blades into the dark dwarf and slice it open.
The remaining enemies both fall to the ground.
Combat over! And this is what it's like when you are at the very top of the tier, and get great rolls.
With the duergar threat neutralized, the Eagle Knights and the Pathfinders are free to celebrate once they return to the surface. Lieutenant Evanno is particularly impressed with your feats, and offers you his personal set of Golden Legion epaulets in addition to Ghelib’s journal, to commemorate this day of allianc. As they part ways, he offers to sponsor any of you for membership into the Eagle Knights, if they feel so inclined.

Haohji nods his thanks, but declines, Thank you, but my heart lays elsewhere. Do not hesitate to ask for help, however, and I will be there if I am able.
--
With his fellow Pathfinders, as they head home, Haohji is beaming. He seems to have found purpose, It has been a pleasure to meet you all! I look forward to working with you again in the future!

![]() |

Charlies declines the offer of membership but is happy they eliminated the threats underground. He and Estes join the celebration, even re-enacting the battle they just had.

![]() |

That was fast! Well done, team.
Ennoia beams an enigmatic smile at the offer, but shakes her head. "I must respectfully decline, as my loyalties lie elsewhere." She then joins her team mates in celebration, and prepares her report mentally.

![]() |

Studley hears the offer, and after a few pointed questions, realizes they seem to be a little too much of a vigilante organization for him.
"I will not join, but would like a token from your organization that I may work with you in future mutually beneficial missions."

![]() |

We get magic epaulets! That should be a good token, should we work with them again! ^_^

While on the ship back home, Haohji spends his time hanging bags of sand off the yard arm and as the ship causes the bags to sway, the young fist-fighter slips and dodges his way through. He is also careful to dodge out of the way of the sailors and hit the bags away before they can interfere with their duties.
Once, it starts to become a hassle, or when the sailors begin to move about with purpose, Haohji quickly sets to taking them down...

As the crew is winding down, Ambrus Valsin approaches the group. "Studley, Haohji, Ennoia, be ready to travel. I'll be contacting you shortly for another job."

![]() |

Ennoia rejoys at the perspective of another mission. "Count me in, Sir. I'm eager to delve deeper into field studies."

![]() |

Yessir Haohji replies, shouldering his bag. I won't even bother to unpack!

cmlobue |

No takers for the open slots, but we have a good core here, so I'll begin.
Tue to his word, Venture-Captain Valsin soon sends a note to each of you (and, as it happens, Graeyson) instructing you to travel to Thuvia. You have time to shop or get supplies from your school, but the transport he has arranged will not wait overlong.
Secret Academia Lore or Thuvian History Lore check to Recall Knowledge. Secret Society check to Recall Different Knowledge.
A reliable source of goods, information, and ancient artifacts became lost to the Society when the Ruby Prince of Osirion closed access to his country’s ruins and sites of interest. As our last extant licenses there have expired, I fear that door is closed to us for the foreseeable future. Fortunately, when some doors close, other doors open. Prince Zinlo of the Thuvian city-state Aspenthar now sells licenses that allow others to access the Osirian ruins located nearby.
The prince’s agents say that ruins are numerous and artifacts sure to be bountiful, but Zinlo is not legendary for his moral compass. The terms of the license I have read contain troubling loopholes that suggest that we could find all, some, or none of what we hope to find at the site that we licensed for a high premium.
The task I have for you is to first find a means of entry into the site, which is located on a seaside cliff near Aspenthar. Next, you need to secure the site, ridding it of any remaining threats or hazards. While you’re securing the site, it would be useful if you keep an eye out for what kind of situation our full exploration team will be setting foot in.
You’ll meet with a representative of Zinlo’s named Gol Amri at the Aspenthar docks five days from now at noon. She will provide you with a guide to the site.
Once you secure the site, you can return to the docks to meet with the exploration team leader, Kyreen Tael, and give her your report.
Make haste with no waste,
Ambrus Valsin

Cool, I've never been to Thuvia, anyone know anything about it?

![]() |

Ennoia reads the note carefully, and her eyes seem to indicate that she's overjoyed at this task laid upon her. "I've always wanted to see the sands of Garund. It'll be my first time there! Any ideas on what we might bring? I guess light clothes are in order, as well as an umbrella." She storms out to find enough time to go to the market before travelling. "Meet you at the docks!"

Gather Information would be secret, but it's not available this time.
Ennoia recalls that Prince Zinlo is one of the most powerful figures in Thuvia, though his reputation is as a callous and ambitious man with little concern for leisure or scholarly pursuits. Prince Zinlo’s rush to sell permits for dig sites means that it’s highly unlikely anyone knows what is actually in any of the sites. Thuvia has been occupied by many powerful empires over the centuries, including the Jistka Imperium.

![]() |

I can do any of those Lore checks untrained, right?

![]() |

Yes, PF2e Untrained just means you don't add anything beside your ability score modifier. At low level, the difference isn't much, but as you gain in levels, Untrained really becomes outclassed by T/E/M/L.

![]() |

Thanks, wasn't sure if Lores were one of those things that was Trained Only.
Secret Academia Lore?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Nope. Worth a shot, though...

cmlobue |

In the future, when you want to make a secret check, post your modifier only. I will make the roll for you.
Graeyson knows that Thuvia’s position in central Garund means that it was controlled by multiple powers during its history, including the Osirian Empire and the Jistka Imperium.

What are considered secret checks? Is this found in the PFS Manual or in the Core Rulebook?

What are considered secret checks? Is this found in the PFS Manual or in the Core Rulebook?
It's in the Core Rulebook.
The Recall Knowledge checks at the start of adventures are usually secret because there is incorrect information you can get on a critical failure. Same for identifying creatures in combat.

![]() |

Good to know! Sorry about that! Still pretty new to PF2e!
Hoahji listens to Graeyson, nodding at the wisdom of his advice, I am comfortable in my enemies' faces. I am also adept at harrying them to keep them off-balance.

A human man rolls up in a wheelchair, with various clockwork mechanisms connecting him to his chair.
"Are you lot the Pathfinders?" he says, "The Venture captain asked me to join you in your little quest here,"

The newcomer does not know anything that hasn't already been discussed.
Once you have obtained all the equipment you feel you need, the venture-captain sends you off to Thuvia. I am going to assume everyone takes healing potions from their school unless they say otherwise.
The streets of Aspenthar showcase the trappings of wealth and militarization in equal measure. The main road cutting through the heart of the city is patterned with brilliant mosaic stonework, and to each side are seemingly endless rows of proud and opulent structures.
The neatly ordered streets give way to the city’s chaotic and bustling docks, where a Garundi woman waits wearing subtle but expensive-looking clothing. She extends her hands in a grand welcoming gesture.
“Welcome, Pathfinders. I am Gol Amri. I greet you as a representative of the great Prince Zinlo. Let us conduct our business! I am sure you are eager to search for hidden treasures, and I wish you no delay.”

![]() |

Yes, of course, where would our lot be?

![]() |

Ennoia indeed chose the minor healing potion. Apologies for the lack of clarification.
Even if the voyage proves uneventful to most, the same cannot be said for the curious cave elf. While taking care of remaining within the shade of her newly-acquired umbrella, she makes a point in not missing a single opportunity to see what life on the ship has to offer. When the vessel drops finally the anchor in Aspenthar, Ennoia's eyes widen, eager to absorb all she can see, smell, or experience. Her curiosity, however, is cast aside at once the moment she catches sight of the richly-dressed Garundi lady. She nods in recognition at first, then relaizes the customs may not be what she's used to, and consequently shakes the offered hand. "Greetings, Gol Amri, I am Ennoia Rylintar of the Pathfinder Society, and these are my comrades-in-arms. The crafty Haohji, the grizzled Graeyson, the ruthless Studley Brightblade, and..." she cuts off her sentence, suddenly realizing she doesn't know the name of the newcomer. "... and you are?"
"Well, you are welcome among us, of course, that's what counts. If Ambrus Valsin deemed your presence important, we shall dwell on it no longer." Then turning to Gol Amri. "Straight to business, eh? I like that. I have a couple of questions for you. First off, do you expect any competition? Second, our leader mentioned you'd provide us with a guide. Are we to meet them soon? Finally, I'd like to know if we need any mounts to reach the site... these animals are called canelle, right?" she risks while pointing at the massive, two-humped local beasts that undoubtedly roam in the surroundings.

”Studs is my nickname. I figured out the arcane and religious text last mission. So I am an excellent student—maybe explaining my sobriquet. Now, we are doing more smart stuff. My ranseur is mighty too.”
He shakes his head.
”I thought you were our guide chariot man??”

cmlobue |

"I am not your guide. And I would have expected you to be better informed." She sighs, as if you had just asked the most inane question she had ever heard. "A, ahem, caMEL will likey be required."

![]() |

Camels? Haohji exclaims excitedly, Oh, this promises to be an experience!

![]() |

"Oi, a thousand pardons, mum, me name's Bob. Me mates call me Quarter Orc Bob; on account of me grandmam bein' an orc. Used to be a lockpick and tomb breaker for the Society, but a demon broke me back when we was helpin' them Mendevian Crusaders a few years ago. Realized that I was always handy with machines. Spent some time studyin' what we Pathfinders found in the Red Redoubt of Karamoss, and came up with a few contraptions meself," he pats his chair lovingly.
"Bloody hells, cliffside climbing? Any of you lot got climbing kits?"

![]() |

Pleased ta meetcha, Haohji says, As my friend mentioned, I'm Haohji. I tend to be a pest to our enemies, trying to distract them, so you all can do what needs to be done...
Flinching at the mention of Bob's injury, Haohji mutters, Sorry about your back... Maybe we can find a way to get fix it?
Not trying to intentionally be ableist, but it would be Haohji's first thought, being trained in Medicine, but not having a high Wisdom... nor Charisma. ^_^ Foot in mouth time!

![]() |

"Unfortunately, mate, the demon must have lodged some sort abyssal energy in me when they attacked. Not even the life oracles have been able to knit me back."

![]() |

Oh, Haohji stands awkwardly at a loss for words... Well, you sure get around in that chair of yours! Will you be able to keep up with the camels? Have you ever seen a camel? I haven't... I'm so excited!
