Heads up, today and Thursday are going to be extremely slow from me. (I expect this to be my only post until the morning.)

Ysh'yaal really struggles, but Zoey grabs an extinguisher and quickly puts another flare up out!

Fire: 1d100 ⇒ 56 1d8 ⇒ 2, but the fire flares up in the exact same spot! If the fire isn't completely put out soon more fireworks may erupt!

Moving quickly, the party overcomes the remaining fires and saves the storage area. Good thing too as it could have turned MUCH worse in the next few seconds. Indeed, the dice on fire spread were kind, and a PC with a fire extinguisher already is a big boon!

When you regroup with Dot, she’s already aware of the fire. She waives the cost of the gift you’ve chosen. Dot is surprisingly unphased by the fire. "Extensive insurance and recordkeeping for the win!"

The streets surrounding Jatembe Park, where the Newspark Parade is scheduled to begin, are packed with festivalgoers dressed in bright colors and carrying prepackaged snacks and small gifts to share with the Sparklors and other celebrants. The parade route has been blocked off, and many completed floats already line the street, each more extravagant than the last. Sparklors surround their floats, dancing, singing, and socializing with the crowds. Nearby floats include a holographic unicorn frolicking amid cotton-candy clouds, a self-contained sphere of water that changes shape, a jungle scene with animatronic animals, and a cartoonish starship wreathed in rainbow smoke.

The Jeweled Flower is a gorgeous float in shades of red, pink, and white. The float’s sides are lined in delicate rows of silk and crystal flowers, surrounding a central platform made in the form of a red rose. The petals are crafted from stiff silk, soft yet firm in design. Dancing atop a hoverboard above the center of the rose is an android in extravagant, flowing attire. “Starfinders!” the android exclaims, riding their hoverboard down to ground level. “Camellia said they would send someone, though their description doesn’t do you justice!” The android slips their hoverboard under their arm and bows in greeting. “Yichen, at your service! Though, I hope you’ll also be at mine!” Despite the float’s beauty, it’s clearly unfinished, with missing flowers, an unfinished platform, and no other features.

Fortunately, the Jeweled Flower isn’t the only unfinished float. Another float, this one a hovering castle festooned with streamers and flags, is also under construction in this modest garage. Numerous Sparklors scurry around this second float, including a lashunta installing an old-fashioned cannon filled with fireworks and a familiar pair of skittermanders tinkering with a holographic projector.

There are a lot of different ways you can help Yichen.

  • Automation: A PC can use Computers or Engineering to program the float with exciting mechanical movement.
  • Construction: A PC can use Athletics or Engineering to complete construction on the float’s central platform or other large components.
  • Decorations: A PC can use Acrobatics or Sleight of Hand to add decorative flourishes to the float or complete other fine details in
    difficult to reach places.

  • Safety: A PC can use Perception or Piloting to ensure there are clear sight lines for the float’s driver or otherwise ensure the safety of the float.

    Sorry, I meant to imply that you get ONE check each, but you can double up on skills attempted between you.

    Kaath's cosmic advice works well, as the crew works more efficiently and safely. Unfortunately, Zoey overextends on butterfly placement, and the decorations don't stick.

    The party has no problems at all getting the float together in time! As you finish repairs on the Jeweled Flower, the magitech projector on the neighboring castle float malfunctions, flying loose from the float and causing a hologram of a jester to become violent!

    The Sparklors flee the garage, leaving you to stop the malfunctioning contraptions before both floats are destroyed!

    The garage is brightly lit with 20-foot-high ceilings. The doors in the east and west walls are closed but the garage door in the building’s south wall is open to the street. Outside, the parade route is free of spectators and dimly lit by colorful lights.
