Concentration, Combat Casting, DC 25: 1d20 + 14 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 14 + 4 = 33
The Blackfire Adept tucks the wand back in her pouch, then adeptly defends herself while casting a spell. A wall of force springs up, sealing the hallway.
Breath weapons and spells cannot pass through a wall of force in either direction, although dimension door, teleport, and similar effects can bypass the barrier. It blocks ethereal creatures as well as material ones (though ethereal creatures can usually circumvent the wall by going around it, through material floors and ceilings). Gaze attacks can operate through a wall of force.

She steps, and for a moment it seems she will be stuck in place, but then pushes through the mental block and pops out of existence and back behind the wall.
"Ha! Not yet I don't!" she says with a smirk before wincing in pain. "You, dwarf, are going to pay for that."

GM 7thGate |

Correct.
Rogjameda moves to start spellcasting on the caster, and realizes she doesn't have the right 'connection' to make the spell afflict its target, like trying to cast on someone on the other side of a thick wall of stone.
You can take a different action if you want Rogjameda.

Alain atop Donahan races down the stair well and banks hard to the right, nearly hitting the table seeing the tentacles still ahead. He banks hard to try and make his way around the other way when he comes across a familiar face in the hall.
"Yanda! What news!? I am terribly sorry for succumbing to that mage's cheap tricks! What's going on? Where are the others?"
Strategically it makes sense from Alain's point of view to stop since he's out of the loop on what's going on. If he's still in mid gallop while asking on his way past, may he still continue more or less down the hall after Yanda's response (or backtrack depending on the answer) provided its within that semi-nebulous free action period?

GM 7thGate |

Yanda, you can make saves each round as a full round action to try to break out, including this one.

![]() |

That is a relief. Forgot it worked that way.
will save try 2, end of turn: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
But as you can see, she always fails the will saves. But on the bright side, given enough rolls maybe even she can make a will save eventually and break her streak. I think this is the third scenario in a row where she got paralyzed or mind controlled and sat the battle out. In this game she got to be paralyzed three times in spite of getting a lesser talisman of Triskelion because I got so tired of having her paralyzed. Sheesh. It's like she has a target painted on her that says 'paralyze me'.
Edited. My sheet says she used her portfolio reroll so I don't think she has it. I failed it anyway, so it is moot.

Damage: 2d6 + 9 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 2) + 9 + 6 + 1 = 21
The Earth Elemental feels Airon running up the wall, and deals him a mighty blow as he moves over the elemental.

GM 7thGate |

Yeah, this scenario has a huge number of paralysis/stagger effects in it between the Boss and her special summons and the Ceustodaemons having both slow and hold monster. The only saving grace on the ceustodaemons is that their tactics for 3/5 of them called for breath weapon first and only once, which both stopped them from getting slow out ASAP and doesn't let them do a lot of fly or teleport based hit and runs with breath weapons once they slow people.
I feel like the difficulty for this scenario drops tremendously if you happened to have a cleric or oracle with Freedom of Movement. On the plus side, Yanda will be able to brew Freedom of Movement extracts next level, so she might not have this problem for much longer in her career.
I think that given how much damage Yanda can put out at range, she's going to end up being a high priority for disabling after blowing stuff up in the first few turns if the enemies have access to anything that can try, and she's immune to a number of other physical control attempts due to flight. She's even jucier as a dominate target since she can probably wipe her own party in 2-3 turns, though thankfully there are no dominate effects in this scenario. If she had dominate person instead of hold monster in that 5th level spell slot, this would get really scary really fast.

GM 7thGate |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Alain is up; Alain, note I used your swift action this turn on the immediate action to use Mounted Combat to block the hit from the Earth Elemental last round, so no swift available to use Challenge or anything else that might need a swift this round. I figured you would probably want to try and use mounted combat so I rolled for it, but if you do not want to use it next round to keep your swift action for the upcoming turn let me know. You can also pre-roll it if you know you're going to want to use it, or specify a maximum hit roll you want to try and stop with it since the choice to use it or not applies after the to-hit is known.
