The place Wiston leads you is a fairly run-down section of town. The road is about 10' across and about 70' long. Wiston directs you to a house at the end of the street.

Rosa draws her sword and triggers the release in the pommel as she pushes ahead. I hope you'll forgive this as an overabundance of caution.
She pauses at the next alley and let's into the gloom before washing the rest of the group forward if no threat presents itself.

Malik holds out his hand to stop the group and gestures down at the ground. He then crouches on the edge of the 'dangerous' pavement and inspects it. "Something's off here. Be ready for a fight."

Avery manages to disarm the trap Malik found. But as she does so, a voice calls out to the group.

Five bandits emerge from around the "parents' house" and attack. Wiston yelps and legs it.

You recognize Freddo as the leader of a criminal band called the "Bloody Barbers". They have been responsible for robbing well-meaning people using the 'defrauded parents' scam.
Baby Huey pulls out a dragon mouth pistol and fires at Pinky. The bulk of the pellets catch Pinky squarely on the face and practically removes his head. Both Malik, Blue and Miss Sorbet catch some shrapnel from the hit.

Avery sends arrows at the fleeing Freddo. One hits him in the middle of his back while the other catches him right in the neck, dropping him in a pool of blood. At the same time, you hear "Oy! Freddo! Wait for me!" as Wiston bolts from his hiding place and tries to follow. Wiston sees the blood and gore, and then Freddo's body and tries to run the other way. However, Malik and Meepette manage to run him down and hold him.
"Okay. OKAY! I confess! There is no orphanage. This was all a setup with the Bloody Barbers to get some coin. We had no idea you would be this formidable!"
As Wiston confesses, members of the City Guard arrive. Seeing the gore and bodies, they immediately demand to know what's going on.
As I get the chronicles ready, maybe you should tell the nice watchmen your story... Oh, and please verify that your chronicle information is correct. I have linked them on top of the page.

Malik slings his shield on his back, "These fools thought to offer us a job, one that involved ambushing us in an alley." he then points out the disarmed trap, "Be careful when you step down here, they armed traps and we disarmed one, but there could be more."
Malik assumes a non-threatening posture and readies himself to be taken for questioning. It's a good thing the society offers legal support.

Jaariko looks confused at the events as he waddles along down the street towards the guards, first jamming his pistol back into his secure shell. "First, this friend." He points to the young man they were helping. "Wants us to go speak with other friend about his parents, then more friends show up." He makes big explosion-like noises and squawks as he recreates the entire scene for the guards with sound effects and all as he adds to the extreme confusion.

Wiston's eyes widen even more at the large tengu. He turns and begs the guard captain. "Ok. I confess it was a scam! Just keep that ... that ... creature away from me!"
"We did receive many reports of people getting ambushed in this area. That's why I decided to investigate this myself. I'll take this one into custody. Please follow me back to the station to give your statements and perhaps receive a small reward from us."
You all troop back to the guard station and give your statements. After Wiston is booked in, the guard captain agrees to give you a small reward of 4gp for defeating this band of robbers.
