"We are here on business so there is no need to call the guards. As for your door. I can repair the damage magically, good as new."

The Mending spell should be able to fix a non-magical door perfectly.

A Diplomacy roll would go nicely here if you'd like to improve his attitude towards you.
Sylvester Solstar |
Sylvester is better at deception than telling the truth but he is still a very likeable fellow.

Easy friend, no need for guards, we're here for business the surly dwarf attempts to help defuse the situation as he steps into the room as well.

GM Zin |
The irate slavemonger seems to calm down a little bit, and insults seem to disappear from the language he uses towards you. "You can't just go barging into someone's closed establishment!"
"This is Absalom," he mutters. "We have ways of doing things, courtesies! And breaking down doors to do business is not among them. If you're going to fix the door, go ahead and get started, and then let me know what it is you're looking for."
Pildapush's attitude is now Indifferent; he is no longer calling for the guards.
Vulf Sorgrim |
Vulf nods to Theron to hold the door in place as the cleric calls upon the God of the Forge for additional assistance.
Casting mending on door.
GM Zin |
"Okay, okay. I still don't understand why you thought breaking in was okay, but we'll call it a misunderstanding and move on. What is it that you're looking for? I have these two for immediate availability," he motions towards the two cages behind his desk, "and can contract for almost anything you need!"
GM Zin |
Note: his attitude is now Friendly. You can still try to get him to Helpful, if you like.
Sylvester Solstar |
Thankfully an Aid to Diplomacy cannot hurt as Theron could easily trip over his own tongue with that roll. :)
Sylvester smiles and continues to attempt to butter up the slave merchant.
16 Diplomacy on a take 10.
"Yes, your reputation is known to people not engaged in the trade. You really are an artist."
The friendlier a target gets the easier it is too make them even friendlier so why not go all the way to Helpful. :)
"We are looking for someone who came through here not too long ago. A Lady Salhar. She was sold to you by a low-life named Fredrik."
Sylvester does his best to describe the physical appearance of Fredrik and what he knows about the Lady Salhar.
GM Zin |
"Oh yes!" Pildapush exclaims. "I definitely remember her. Nasty business, kidnapping nobles for slavery. Not strictly legal, you understand, but times being what they are...." Seeing the expectant look on your faces, he continues. "Sold her to a Katapeshi slave ship, called the No Return. Don't know where the ship is though, somewhere at the docks, presumably. I don't handle delivery personally, sorry!"
Markus Stonewarden |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Alas, thank you for the tip! Enjoy your day... the dwarf says before turning to the others, Shall we go to the docks?
Theron Randallas |
Your assistance has been noted...and appreciated. Theron says flatly as he makes for the door.
Once outside he looks for the ship.
No Return, eh? It won't return it after I'm done with it...I'll scuttle it myself...
Sylvester Solstar |
Sylvester nods and leaves with the others.
"To the docks ... with haste!"

It's a relatively short walk--as major metropolitan cities go--from the Slave Pits to the Docks. The harbormaster is able to quickly identify where the No Return is moored, across from an inn called the Sodden Sailor. You quickly find your way, pushing through the crowd on the Docks, and arrive at the No Return. Before you can make your approach, though, Shaggy barks loudly just as Vulf sees some kind of motion from the roof of the Sodden Sailor.

You notice two halfling archers perched atop the Sodden Sailor and four more halflings crouched behind crates and barrels nearby. You're certain they're watching you, and you have the feeling they're about to spring an ambush.

"Look there! A pair of halfling archers perched atop the Sodden Sailor!" cries Vulf as he points them out. "And four more halflings crouched behind crates and barrels nearby. No doubt, they're about to spring an ambush!"
Reciting a prayer of the forge, Vulf summons a war hammer made of force, which he directs to bash one of the archers!

Sailors and dockworkers alike both look up with the Pathfinders as Vulf cries his warning, moments before the trap is sprung! Even as Vulf summons Torag's hammer to hassle the archers, the crowd begins to rustle and move, not wanting to get caught up in the fray. Vulf's spiritual weapon lands a clear hit, causing that archer to yell in pain.

It seems strange, but right here right now seems like a good time to lay down and get some blessed rest! (Will save from Vulf, please!)
The pair surrounding Sylvester move expertly together, and both deliver calculated strikes that get through the flat-footed gnome's defenses easily.
One of the pair attacking Theron moves to flank with his partner, then both strike the warrior soundly, taking advantage of the sudden surprise of the ambush to deliver expert strikes.

Sylvester tries to escape the ambush that so quickly sprung around him, but the crowded dock makes his retreat difficult and slows Shaggy's movement, opening him up to an attack. Difficult terrain prevents a 5' step, so the movement draws AoO's from both yellow and green; Shaggy takes 11 hp damage. However, the gnome is able to effectively apply his own healing!
Markus distracts his foe with a wide right hook that wasn't ever going to connect, but opens the halfling's defenses for a powerful headbutt!
Vulf does little more than keep his current foe's attention, but his spiritual weapon keeps bashing the archer on the rooftop!
Seebonick tumbles through the melee to get outside the scrum, and is ready to engage from a better position. Difficult terrain doubles movement costs, so it takes a double move action to move that 15' (30' movement cost). Note: Seebonick isn't flanking green from his current position, so wouldn't deal sneak attack damage with that attack.
