With her Exocortex locked on to the closest creature, Kat takes her time to line up two shots. Her hope is to take the creature down and save Smiley from it's effects. She doesn't want Aravon riding on her back for three days out of here.

Locking onto the plant monster with laser-like precision, Kat5e scores a beautiful shot right in its center mass. The creature shudders and shakes as electricity coruscates up and down its leafy stalks. It clearly can't take any more punishment!

One of Kat's two attacks hit through soft cover. This plant monster could be knocked over by a slight breeze. Freeman is up.

"You hear something Freeman? Sounds like we've got more trouble ahead"

"Sorry! My bad!"

The plant monster menacing the Starfinders is nearly jolted into the air by Kat5e's masterful shot! But somehow, it continues fighting!

Kat5e:
As your shot hit the plant monster, there was an instant where you swear it faded from view entirely and then reappeared, almost as if by magic. Not it looks almost translucent. And now that you think about it, you haven't actually seen this particular one attack anyone. Combined with the giggling from the foliage . . . There may not be any there there!

Freeman and Drone advance to the edge of the foliage to investigate the giggling.

Freeman:
You realise the seemingly-dense foliage in the northeast of this chamber is actually just camouflage for an area beyond! But a 20'-tall wooden fence bars passage. Through the bars of the fence, you can see dessicated flowers ringing a hole in the ground. But what really catches your eye are three giggling creatures around the hole! Each creature is only 3’ tall, and sports large, bat-like ears, needle-like teeth, and spindly, elongated limbs. Their skin is a swirling purple and blue. They seem to be floating just above the ground!

@Freeman: To get past the fence, I'd need an Athletics (Climb) check to climb over it, a Strength check to break it, or just dealing weapon damage to shatter it. You can keep your natural 19 roll and then apply the relevant modifier depending on what you'd like to try to do.

Aravon looks at the monster really hard...

Aravon realises the truth of what the others have been telling him: he's been tricked! The second plant monster must have been a deviously-crafted hologram!

Hemlock decides to help Freeman get through the fence. "Stand back dudes! It's about to heat up in here!" Their flamethrower blasts in a wide cone, charring some of the fence, but also catching something that must be hiding behind it! A sudden scream interrupts the guffawing, and a high-pitched voice can be heard from the other side of the foliage: "Hey, no fair! My buddy's a crispy critter now! Well, you asked for it!" Somehow floating over the top of the fence, a three-foot-tall purplish-blue figure with large, bat-like ears, needle-like teeth, and spindly elongated limbs appears.
