Seeing Cyber Historia break out of nearly being surrounded, Gus slips past the shirren beside him as he tries to keep level with the digital construct. "Coming through, wide load, watch your legs!" He calls out.

Boldly, he levels the rifle at them over the display table between them. After firing his shot, he glances back towards Triage. "Yeah, give us something good, elf! All this cyberspace stuff is hurting my head!"

Naitier finishes off the Cyber Historia, so Jek can keep his spell for the moment.

Pulling life force out of themself, Naitier pours forth enough energy to end the assault from the Cyber Historia!

Once the statue is defeated, you can explore the rest of the museum. Each room is filled with vidfeeds and holographic images detailing Historia's exploits in the various guises he's worn. As you explore the images and viewable data, you realize that Historia-Prime has been all the previous heads of the Dataphiles faction -- all except Celita who evaded being taken over. Indeed part of the museum is devoted to Celita's escape, with a voice over in Historia's cold voice, "And so the Society lost its best and wisest mentor and replaced it with a well-meaning but inefficient amateur."

Hope-01 shakes his head. "I really hope I never sound like that."

DC 17 Culture or Sense Motive check (or a DC 19 Computers or Perception check):
You surmise Historia-Prime is responsible for not only this attack on Guidance, but the Data Scourge as a whole.

Wandering over to the Celita exhibit, Gus scoffs at the voice-over from Historia. "Efficiency is a relative perspective based on the end goals. I don't think she shares yours." Even if no one heard his quip, he can't help but be smug in the face of this antagonistic code. While he's there, he scans the exhibit itself for any clues about fixing the code or escaping this room.

I can roll a check for that, I just don't know which to roll.

Hope-01 nods. "I am glad that you think so. I am what Historia-Prime cut out of himself. He ruthlessly removed everything in himself that might cause inefficiencies. This is what's left." Hope looks down at himself, self-deprecatingly. "As for what happened with Celita? She was saved by friendship and by love, two things that Historia-Prime can never understand." Hope-01 sounds wistful. "She got to be her own person instead of trying to live up to someone else's impossible standards."

Triage wrote:
“We have to move, NOW.”

Then Hope looks around at dissolving landscape. "Right, let's go." Hope-01 waves his arm, transporting you from one digital node to another. The museum vanishes and is replaced by a sleek white hall. "This is Guidance's server facility -- the digital version."

The décor in this rectangular lobby changes rapidly; the floor cycling through plush carpet, green tiles, hardwood planks, polished marble, and industrial steel, while the walls spin through a cyclone of colors, wallpapers, and hanging art. The furnishings likewise shift, though in all the room's permutations, there remains a desk and an office chair. At the desk, a holographic image of one of Guidance's personas remains seated and paused in the middle of the chaos surrounding them. At a slower rate than the room, Guidance's visage shifts to another guise worn by the AI, then another, but remains immobile amid the maelstrom.

Fear hits Hope-01's face as he considers the instability of this simulation. "We have far less time than we expected." He does not attempt to interact with the paused holographic Guidance seated at the desk. "Come! Follow me!" He starts to run.

Outside of this digital simulation, the door to this room would be locked and require a high security clearance to enter. Now the double doors open when you approached within a few feet.

Computer banks cover every wall in this room, monitoring and restricting access to the server room through the double door to the west. Clean, plush carpeting covers the floor, breaking it into lit gridlines as it gets closer to the south wall. The computer banks and walls to the south have broken into voxels and empty space, but it's impossible to see or pass through the lines to the rooms beyond. Double doors exit to the north and west, while a single door leads through the broken simulation to the south.

In the Lorespire Complex, this room is staffed by Starfinders with high security clearance to monitor and maintain the server room to the west. They're well-trained, well-armed, and prepared to fight to protect Guidance's memory core. In the simulation, the room is empty, but the computers remain operational.

Main Server

The sleek brushed steel surfaces and pristine white walls of Guidance's server room have given way to a light grid overlaid on a black void, with shapes resembling Guidance's forum hall and server banks. Here and there, individual voxels solidify and the essence of the original simulation peeks from within the destruction caused by the corruption. As the resolution gives way to individual pixels and lines of light, the walls, servers, and surfaces all remain solid and opaque. The long rows of degraded server banks are eight feet high and blink with the echoes of the blue lighting. Large double doors are centered in the east wall allowing for a wide pathway between the servers to the west side of the server room. The holographic gridlines of what should be tiered seating rises along the west side of the room surrounding a glowing circle of light built into the floor. Within the glowing circle, an image of Guidance's feminine lashunta persona stands frozen.

Upon entering the server room, Hope-01 rushes to the frozen hologram of Guidance, noting “We're out of time!” He races towards the glowing forcefield surrounding the hologram of Guidance, and sparks cover him as he travels through it. "Guidance, I'm here for you!" and he hugs the frozen figure.

Meanwhile, the malicious code manifests in the server room. One, a pixellated dog, appears on top of the servers, snarls and turns towards Hope. The other three figures, who resemble low resolution versions of famous Starfinders, turn agressively to you.

Culture: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Triage spends a moment trying to remember what he can about Zemir, Dr. B and Velloro, and what he sees with these low-resolution versions. He thinks the digital code picked these iconic starfinders to represent basic digital templates: Dr. B, known for her skills, has had her image grafted on to an operative template -- even though she's a known biohacker. Zemir, known for his spellcasting, has been grafted on to a technomancer template - even though he's a known witchwarper. Velloro, known for being a tank in battle, has been grafted onto a rough soldier template -- even though he's a pretty famous vanguard. After a moment though, all this confusion makes sense. Historia-Prime wore the faces of others without much regard to who they were as people. They just became greater extensions of himself and his will.

Server Banks: The servers throughout the room are eight feet tall and four feet wide, making it possible for PCs to stand atop them. Though degraded by the corruption, they still act as if made of the same durable alloy as the real servers and provide cover.

Seeing that our cover has no effect against a magic missile, Jek drops the holo grande as Jek cast Reflecting Armor on themself, then runs to flank Pixel Zemir and yells, Nuva'gek clobber that pixel pronker!

Reflecting Armor:
REFLECTING ARMOR 1
School abjuration (force)
Casting Time 1 standard action
Range personal
Duration 10 minutes/level or until dismissed (D); see text
You create a shimmering skin-like coating of mystical force
that covers your body, allowing you to reflect damage you
take back against your attacker. At any time during this
spell’s duration, when you take Hit Point damage from an
attack made with a weapon by a foe within 100 feet, you can
choose to dismiss the spell as a reaction. If you do, the armor
crackles with energy as it disappears, arcing through the air to
strike the attacking creature, which takes an amount of force
damage equal to the damage dealt to you at the time this spell
was dismissed (maximum 10). The target can attempt a Reflex
save for half damage.
