Assuming you are accepting more players
Starting gear: It is a good thing I start with a lot. Wallet, My Debit card (My Debit Account and it is electronically linked to a savings that has over 200,000 in it and it has a beneficiary my parents, so even if argued the money disappears upon death cause it goes to the government, I would still have it and use my debit account to buy things. It has 5.27% APR interest paid monthly. The catch is that it is only online transfers and it takes 7 days from the money to reach the savings to the debt account or vice-versa and requires a computer). The wallet itself also has credit cards and shopping/rewards cards in them and $20.
Other stuff, cell phone, charger, car keys, usually wearing jeans, a ballcap type hat, Running Shoes, and a T-Shirt. Flashlight with charger, has 3 modes bright, dim and blinking.
I'm not one to tell people about what I own in real life cause of hackers and whatnot, but you said we get our real life starting gear.

Wish: For a few extra spell slots and to prepare extra spells, cause I'm playing the Arcanist class. DMs choice. So let me know what it is. It can be If I can cast 3rd level spells, I get 1 extra 3rd level spell, or 1 extra level 1 and 2 spell slot. 2 extra level 1 spell slots regardless of level. Maybe I can prepare 1 extra level 1 spell for free or prepare and additional spell of the highest level I can cast.

I had a similar dilemma for another character in another campaign. I would wish for double the spell slots. That way you get more spell slots per level.

And just because I was rich in real life doesn't mean I get that in the game, just thought I'd bring it up. Maybe 200,000 translates to only 100 gold or US dollars means nothing in this game.

Will have fun roleplaying myself. And I'll tell you my fun backstory.
As far as the wish, DMs choice, I want to avoid a curse if that helps, so obviously 2 extra spell slots of every level would probably do that while 1 extra spell slot of the highest level or 1 extra of each below the highest level I can cast or a straight 2 extra first levels won't do that, so give me what you think is fair.


If you come in as a 5th level, you need to have a reason/background. Most new players would spawn in New Beginnings and head to New Faces. Thus going West.

Coming in as a 5th level means you used your wish and have likely gone through some hardships. Party members dying, fighting monsters, and dealing with scoundrels.

Some suggestions include:
Mercenary
Guard for a merchant caravan
Spawned in a Dungeon
Spawned in a magical academy or library
Etc.


Also this is where you start your adventure:

Your life flashes before your eyes as your life is cut short before it should have ended. Then you find yourself in a black room with no light source but it seems you are glowing as you are able to see yourself and the chair you sit in. It doesn’t even seem there is a floor, walls, or a ceiling, more like a black void. Please spoil your response as each of these will be unique to each player.

After a few moments a gorgeous glowing girl appears before you and says in a disinterested voice, "Ah another life cut short before experiencing a full life. Welcome to the afterlife. You are in fact dead." She waits a few moments to let it sink in before touching up her hair and continuing in a prideful way, "I am Alethia, a goddess that guides humans who die young, unfulfilled lives, or those who try to make a heroic sacrifice to the afterlife."

Getting a bit serious she gives you your options, "Now you have two choices before you. You may ascend to heaven, to tell you the truth heaven isn't the dreamy place you all imagine it to be. The dull place is full of spirits, you don't even have a physical body anymore so you can't do anything sexual, either. Just basking in the sun and working."
"Or go to a new world one of adventure, action, and like the world that you came from. This world has been invaded by dark forces that continue to spread and decimate the population of the world. You get to go with your body and memories intact. You will get to bring one great ability with you as well: a weapon of great power, a supreme ability, or even an ally of some sort."
"There will be many opportunities to change as you wish."
She spins and a flurry of cards come from her hands and land before you as suggestions. After a few moments she says annoyed, "Hurry up and choose.... you know that I have a lot of dead people to offer this choice too as well."

As you state what you want, she smiles at you and gleefully says, "You have chosen well and for that the inhabitants of Arcanium will know you as a Chosen. May you prosper and do well in Arcanium! Should you find and destroy any of the 13 dark souls you will be granted a wish. Also closing any portals to other worlds will gain you another wish to make Arcanium safe once more. Good luck and may your travels be blessed."

You are more than welcome to come in as a 5th level character but you must explain to me how and why.

Heaven really wasn’t sounding so bad, she had hoped to see the folks there, since they had both passed already. But then the last bit caught her attention, ”Wait… working… in the sun? How does that make any sense? I at least had a nice indoor job back home. Heaven is a downgrade?” She shakes her head sadly in confusion.

”Oh, so there’s magic in this world? Well, that makes this easy. I’ll take the deal.” She selects a card with a fox-faced humanoid. ”Could I be a Kitsune? They have some ties to Fey, if I remember correctly… Also there’s a Fey called a Gerbie that has a special ability that would really come in handy.

Nah, I'll just start at level 1 and pick my wish. I'll make the alias.

Alright: Final Character Creations
Backstory: I was always the smart one in school, getting As and Bs. I've always had very few friends. I've played soccer, basketball, and wrestling in middle school. Swim Team in primary school. High school I joined chess club, dungeons and dragons club and many other nerdy things. College I still had few friends, but was in a fraternity, not a party type fraternity. Accounting degree with a C+ average. Got out of college, could not find a job in my degree, so I had worked in customer service for years. I was always smart with money, finding the best deals, using the best cash back rewards credit cards, and finding the best savings accounts even if online. Later I volunteered at haunted houses and made new friends, as well as joined other D&D groups, mostly 10 to 20 years younger than me being in my 30s. Had a girlfriend but broke up with her because she was rude and disrespectful to her dad even though she lived with him. Dated her because she bragged about being a 4.0 student since grade school and she was unemployed.

My Special Ability is Fire

My Wish: To cast more spells per day. I can cast an additional 2 spells per day equal to the median level of spells I can cast, so at first level that is 2 additional level 1s. Fractions are split. So if I can cast Level 2 spells as my highest spell slot, my median level of spell is 1.5. Thus I can cast 1 extra level 1 and 1 extra level 2. When I can cast level 3 spells, my median level is level 2 spells, thus I can cast 2 extra level 2s per day. At level 20, my median level of spells is level 5 assuming I have the intelligence to do it. So I can cast 2 extra level 5s per day. At level 17 it would be one level 4 and one level 5 since the highest level is 8.

Feats:
Level 1: Spell Penetration
Bonus Feat: Great Fortitude

Traits: (No traits in this game can really match anyone's lifestyle considering the world we are in, so I'm just picking 2).
1. Reactionary: +2 Init (every once in a while I was bullied, not physically but made fun of).
2. Heart of Clay: +1 Fort (It does talk about the afterlife in this game and this is it).

Equipment: Tons of credit cards and a debit card attached to a really high bank account which probably means nothing in this game. A Star Wars T-Shirt, Jeans, Light blue colored jeans in good condition size 34/30. My belt to keep my pants up. A Demon-Drop hat I bought from Kennywood over a 2 decades ago. My Car Keys. My cellphone loaded with tons of social media platforms (which may or may not work in this world), a charger and a rechargeable flashlight with 3 modes with its charger. Spellbook as the class comes with it.

The Arcanist's class skills are Appraise (Int), Craft (Int), Fly (Dex), Knowledge (all) (Int), Linguistics (Int), Profession (Wis), Spellcraft (Int), and Use Magic Device (Cha).
Skill Points at each Level: 2 + Int modifier+1 Human Bonus. So 5.
1. Acrobatics: 1 Point, 0 dex: 1 Total
2. Knowledge Religion: 1 Point, 2 int, 3 trained: 6 Total
3. Stealth: 1 Point, 0 Dex: 1 Total

Sorry I haven't posted in a very long time.

Been a combination of things, including kicking off the new career as a ProGM, dealing with my in-laws after my MIL passed, and the general stuff that happens on a farm in the spring and summer keeping my focus elsewhere.

Some asked for a specific magic sword and asked if they wanted the legendary form of it. Then they got the super ampped sword and it was intelligent with a bit of an ego.


Ramie don't worry about de leveling, if anything just take 4 negative levels.

Might have been smart to stay human at level one for the extra feat, but seems like things advance pretty quickly so I'd rather not make more adjustments yet, lol!

I am fine with that. Once you become a Chosen your first reward would include that.


You could roll or develop yourself. Everyone has rolled which is the easiest route. Yes I will look through your backgrounds in the next few days to see what bonuses you will get.

Oh, I did think of one thing to ask while I am thinking about it. Does the breath weapon naturally level up with my character level since I do not have racial hit dice?
