"What? Who?" The woman stops short as Apoc arrives to lift the wagon.
The man catches Geralt and Sunbeam's words. "Oh, hello there! I am Lin Po. This is my teammate Ti Lan. She likes to find shortcuts that are quite long."
The woman snorts. "I am Ti Lan, and I actually know how to ride a horse and prepare a caravan. Unlike some people. Venture-Captain Li sent you to help us?"
You hear a growl and hiss as a feline creature prowls along the road. It hisses when it sees you. "No more intruders! No more interlopers!"
"Ah! The cat is back!" Ti Lan takes a breath. "We're exhausted from it's last attack. Please, help us!"

"Thank you for all of your timely assistance." Lin Po speaks up. "If we had to fight any longer, I'd have to unleash my patented Belly Bounce Technique. Its might is too much for this forest, I fear!" He slaps his gut and chuckles.
Ti Lan moves ahead of her teammate and fights off her smile for just a moment. "Something was trapped inside the Green Scarf. when we reached Ayachi, we heard a voice call to us. A kami was trapped inside, and it was certain someone would try to capture it. I knew its ward was closeby, so..." She exhales carefully. "I took a shortcut."
Lin Po coughs and climbs into the wagon. "The spirit road has left us winding to and fro, like leaves upon the wind." Lin Po pulls a tent out of the back of the caravan. "We were ambushed, robbed of some of our goods. Then we caught a glimpse of a Fox Spirit stealing the kami's prison." He finds a spot where his teammate can set up the tent. "We've been chasing them ever since." He grabs a shovel to dig up a firepit.
Ti Lan begins unfurling the tent. "The Fox carries a bag. We see glimpses of the Fox in the trees - sometimes we find some fur. Sometimes we see paw marks. Maybe the wind is guiding us, but we're exhausted from the search."
Lin Po takes some more supplies from the wagon. "Ti Lan and I can set up camp and repair this hunk of junk. Please, find the fox and return the kami to its rightful home. Maybe this can help you."

You notice pawprints in the tracks of snow that have a bipedal gait - that's probably your vulpine thief.
An hour later, you reach a clearing in the forest. One tree stands tall, rising out of the center of a pond. A variety of coins, jewels and trinkets lay about as a red furred humanoid throws them on a pile. When he hears you approach, he drops his handful of gems and scrambles back. "Oh no! No, witch! Please don't kill me!"
He peers at you and finally finds his katana. "The spirits warned me you'd come here. You'd come to retrieve the magical scarf, right? It has a kami inside..." He pauses and stands up. "Wait a second... ARE you the witch?"
There are 3 ways to convince Dorobu to surrender the Green Scarf:
- A DC 15 Deception check can play upon his fears so he surrenders the goods.
- A DC 15 Underworld Lore can convince him the scarf isn't valuable at all and you'll gladly take the junk off of him.
- A DC 17 Thievery check can steal his goods without him noticing.

As Fenris approaches, Dorobu draws a katana. "Not so fast. I didn't earn the name Dorobu the Quickpaw for my good looks. Hands off my goods."
He turns to Eddie, confused. Maybe it's Eddie's fungal growth. Maybe his words hit a nerve. Or maybe he's just genuine enough. "Oooh! How can I say no to such kind words? And maybe I won't get overrun by kami." He lowers his low-grade cold iron katana. "Here you go, little one, as a token of appreciation."
You can all decide who gets to wield this.
Dorobu rifles through his bag and produces a beautiful green scarf. "Now then, let's hurry this up, eh?" Dorobu looks aside. "Here's the scarf you wanted. Take it before-"
"Hohoho! You won't stop my fun." A withered woman emerges from the forest glade, her laughter lifting her skin and bones aloft. "I've drank from the Kami, and I'll drink from you, too." She glances at Dorobu. "Hold." Her words freeze his body in place. "I'll drink you later. Maybe I'll stuff you, too." A walking pile of flesh, skin and bone emerges from behind her, up to her knees.
