"Come stay awhile and listen. Toady has all the best wisdom." Eddie points to what looks like some budding mushrooms growing out of their chest.

Lioness fights the urge to stop and gnaw at his itching feet. He hadn't even realized the problem was coming on until it was too late. Rather an embarrassing turn of events for a native to get shown up by a bunch of strangers.
He'll redeem himself now and goes about crafting a wonder of shelter to protect his goods as they get soaked.
Crafting: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

![]() |

Guided by the Leshy Hasira works to make a lean too out of branches and the like to dry his gear.
crafting: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 1 = 26
Included the bonus for Specialty Crafting(Woodworking) which includes wooden structures.

![]() |

Eddie looks around at the structures, obviously pleased by the frequent and vigorous headbobs, especially once Hasira7 gets going "You all are very good learners of things. Toady must have spoken much wisdom to you..." The lazy smoke whirls mysteriously around the small leshy.

Cal uses his strength...
Athletics: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 = 26
...to great effect, position his shelter with ease.
"This is more enjoyable than I was expecting."

Drake also uses his strength to build a shelter:

Hero point
Athletics: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 1 = 22
And manages to build something, thanks to the guidance of Toady.

Dice roller is fickle... from 3 successes to 6 (mostly crits)
You all manage to set up camp and have a roaring fire with termite nests to chase away the foot fungus. Ecmund's mood is remarkably upbeat given the miserable weather.
All of you are relaxing by the fire and drying out your gear when suddenly you hear a cry for help and a feline growl. Rushing to the scene, you see a grippli (Image is now on Slide #2) confronted by a large panther.
Upon seeing you, the grippli croaks "A little help, please?"
Ecmund strides forward holding his guidebook like a club. Upon hearing his approach, the panther turns long enough to swipe a claw at the young dwarf, who yelps and runs to hide behind Eddie.
You must drive the panther away. Either:
Wild Empathy (Diplomacy Check) to request it leave
Intimidate Check
Attack Roll
This is not a combat encounter. Each PC is allowed one check

![]() |

Hasira7 sends a snowball at the panther. It strikes the cat, which yelps in pain.
Ecmund peers out from behind Eddie and calls "Get 'em!"

![]() |

Cal grabs a dagger just in case and stares at the cat, baring his teeth.
Intimidation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
But he just comes across as mildly disapproving.

![]() |

Watson doesn't have any damaging divine spells at the ready today, so he tries to light a little fire under the cat's rear by producing some flame!
Save the neat-looking blue grippli!
Spell Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

![]() |

The cat looks at Cal and bares its teeth in return as if saying "I'll get you after I eat this froggy thing!" The cat then jumps with a yowl as Watson's small fireball singes its tail.

Eddie stands slightly confused as the stout dwarf tries to hide behind their small frame. Luckily the faint whispers of Toady rise up from Eddie's chest for some timely advice.
"Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur... We saw lots of mice and squirrels eating termites back that way." Pointing towards their former camp. Eddie is no fan of mice.
Wild Empathy: Diplomacy, Guidance: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 1 = 19

![]() |

While Watson and Hasira7 hurl minor spells at the panther, Eddie manages to nicely convince the panther to leave the grippli alone. The cat runs off, while The Great Drake hurls his warhammer into the ground while yelling at the cat.
Brushing himself off, the grippli addresses you.
"My! That was a close call. Prembret is who I am. I've been trekking through the Sodden Lands to broaden my horizons."
At these words, Edmund brightens, "A kindred spirit! What an amazing thing! We should join forces and share our adventures."
"I'm afraid I'm near the end of my adventure. My camp was overrun by some leeches that may have been attracted by the experimental reagents I'm using. You see, I'm trying to infuse fruits with special properties. Take this, for example. This peach may look like an ordinary peach, but it's got some alchemical properties in it. I can use it to cure minor ailments and injuries. Sadly, though, all this is at my camp. My journal is also in my camp so I'm pretty much back to my starting point."
At this, Ecmund brightens. "Worry not, my new friend! My companions here are hearty adventurers who could easily best these vermin and get your stuff back! In fact, I'm sure it won't be a problem for them! I'd go with them, but someone's got to stay here and keep you safe. No telling if that cat will come back!"

![]() |

"We'd better get a good write up for this. I know a bard who loves a good story." says Cal, sensing the inevitable."This evening or tomorrow morning. I prefer daylight."

![]() |

The Map is also now linked at the top of the page. The camp is marked on the lower right corner.
Terrain Features:
Water is difficult terrain.
Crossing the stream via the logs requires an Acrobatics check to stay upright. Failing the check means you don't move and a crit fail means you fall.
Because of the dense jungle, all creatures that rely on vision take a -2 penalty to perception checks.
Prembret immediately hands you three peaches. "Take these. If you're injured, eat them. They'll heal some of your wounds." Prembret then gives you directions to his camp.
Prembret colors slightly at Cal's question. "Yes, I was near your camp. I heard you all swap stories of your adventures. I'm sorry if I caused a disturbance. I wasn't sure how you'd receive me."
The peaches each function as a Minor Elixir of Life

![]() |

"Sounds fun." Headbobs Eddie before introducing themselves to Prembret "Eddie 'Bo' Leetus I'm called. Good to meet you."
Eddie takes a closer look at the peach if able. ID Magic? Nature +7

"Better bring your big masher Drake, might need it for leeches." Eddie offers up before heading towards the camp along the southern most path. Search for hazards
"We need to find a journal? Nice."

![]() |

"We thought you were a duck," Lioness comments to the grippli. "But now that we know you're not, we'd be happy to help you retrieve your journal."
He is ready to approach the camp.

![]() |

Hearing that he has to go to an unknown location just because he is a ´masher’ (Drake can be very sensitive sometimes), Drake reacts by saying:
’Sorry pal, but the Great Drake is not going anywhere. His contract with this green newbie’s momma does not include a ‘go and fetch’ mission clause.’
He was pointing to Edmund when he mentioned the ´green newbie’.
’Besides, the Great Drake has no interest whatsoever in trying out this fruit salad of yours, whether it be with peaches or ´litchis ’! he adds in a very blunt and rude manner.
As it is now obvious to everyone, Drake has a pretty low intellectual quotient (including ´emotional’ intelligence).

![]() |

"I just assumed he would want to keep the title he already has. I mean, if he's going to be turned away by a few wiggly bugs, I think we're going to have to start calling him "The Pretty Good Drake," or the "I Guess He's Alright Drake," Lioness comments.

![]() |

Eddie just stares in confusion. "Sounds like fun. I like to explore, report, and cooperate... and explore some more."

![]() |

It's about a 10' jump. I'll allow it but I'm going to ask for an Acrobatics check because of the muddy terrain, just so you don't fall on your face.
The map is posted, so please show the route you're taking
So is Drake going to be part of the group or will be be staying with Ecmund?
Slight Retcon
At the sound of Drake's words, Ecmund's face falls.
"You mean, you're not here because my name attracted you?!"
Then, with the attitude of a petulant child, he recovers. "Bah! No matter! We'll have this grand adventure and prove my mother wrong!"

![]() |

"Okay, Okay, The Great Drake is coming, if that's what everybody dearly wishes!
And then he adds in a self-convinced manner: " The Great Drake will also follow Cal so as to make sure that he is not going to fall heads on in another trap!'
(Drake surely knows how to deal with people).

![]() |

Eddie looks around at the crossing and if all seems well tries to balance on the way over. "Glad to have you Great Drake. Moving through a wet and lush forest is what dreams are made of." It sounds odd, but you believe them.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

![]() |

"The Great Drake thanks you, Eddie, for your trust. Indeed, it is always good to have The Great Drake in the group!"
Drake is a bit perplexed by the mention of Eddie's dreams though.
"It might be true that, if The Great Drake were a vegetable, he would have also dreamed of wet and lush forests. Since it is not the case, the dreams of The Great Drake are rather filled with glory, fame and dragons!'

Eddie recalls that these are giant leeches. Capable of growing to lengths of nearly 5 feet, giant leeches have circular maws filled with hook-like teeth. They prefer to dwell in stagnant or slow-moving shallow water or in damp, moist undergrowth. Horses and larger animals are their favorite prey, but they won't balk at a chance to latch onto a human- or halfling-sized meal.

"As none of that will happen to The Great Drake! He doesn't intend to be the next meal or cocktail of these wiggly and disgusting bugs" he says very seriously and in a determined manner.
