Despite being dripping wet, Joseph moves with eerie silence through the room...a silence broken by a quiet but squishy footstep from Mrs. Book. Lybram turns to look back at her to shush her and inadvertently scrapes his breastplate on the wall.
Round 1:
Initiative order
Joseph
Mrs. Book
Eidolon
Lybram
Dayana
Corbrae
Viridian/Blitz

Joseph and Mrs. Book can act! Note that you weren't that far into the first room when you made a lot of noise,so the other half of the party hasn't started to advance yet.
Corbrae Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Joseph Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Mrs. Book Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Dayana Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Eidolon Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Mrs. Book moves to the corner of the room and readies a magic missile to cast on the Undine in the other corner if she tries casting a spell.
damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 1) + 2 = 7
"Don't move!"

Good use of expeditious retreat!

Lybram

Corbrae
Viridian/Blitz

Joseph and Mrs. Book move up and ready attacks. The crab eidolon scuttles up to Joseph, but does not attack...yet. "Did you kill my brother when you found him? I assume you met him already."

![]() |

Lybram moves up behind Joseph, but still can't see the enemy. He casts, "Give me strength and accuracy, Mighty Dead-eye."
Casts divine favor on himself giving +1 luck bonus on attack and damage rolls for 1 minute.
"No more talking. Shot the Undine please."
editted: originally wanted to give dv to Joseph but spell is personal. Sorry.

![]() |

"He's been dealt with and will no longer be a problem. Will you be?"

DM Carbide |

"Is he still alive?"

![]() |

Seeing no reason on to lie, she responds, "Yes, he was defeated and is now restrained."

DM Carbide |

"All right. Can I ransom him back?"

![]() |

"That's a new twist. Mrs Book, let's hear her out, but taking her brother and leaving here needs to be part of the deal."

![]() |

"We are all ears. I am Mrs. Book."

DM Carbide |

"I'm Dayana. I'll give you what I have on me, for my brother. And my sister, if you take her alive. This has been a fascinating place to study, but it's time to move on for a while."
Which is to say, you get the treasure you would've gotten for beating her.

![]() |

"Sounds like a good deal. I find all this fighting annoying. We will explore the rest of the level, of course and take what we find. Will you take your pets or friends or whatever they are with you like the mudlord and the creature over in that room?"

DM Carbide |

"The mudlord was here when we arrived, and after one attempt to destroy it we decided to leave it alone. The eel came through a gate a couple of weeks ago, and will probably leave the same way soon."

![]() |

Mrs. Book nods thoughtfully. "OK, guys, do we have a deal? We will still need to deal with that final room which, I am guessing, is where the sister is. Hopefully she will listen to reason. Gods I hope she is not like your brother and spoiling for a fight. I'll bet you had an interesting childhood."

DM Carbide |

She leaves her gear with the party and leaves, taking her brother with her.
Ready to go after the last room?

![]() |

ReadY!
"We should tie up again so that either we all go or none of us go in."

![]() |

"Do we know anything about this mud lord? Any protections or special spells that might make the fight easier? Tying ourselve together might get us all there as a unit. But once we get there, how can we best attack the thing? I plan to conjure a force weapon that shootsat the creature while I strike at it too."

The room we are headed for is #2, the one we have not investigated yet. At least I think so. The mudlord is in room 1. You thinking we take it on after room #1?

![]() |

"I say we leave the mudman alone. Let's see what we have in the last room. My thoughts on it."
Lybram lines up to continue to next area with group.

DM Carbide |

Between Lybram acting as an anchor and Viridian's ability to swim, the party can form up just before the last room. It appears that the only way in (barring Mrs. Book using spider climb again) is to let the current carry you--there's no place to stand, and the water level in the room is lower than that in the hall.
What do you want to do to prepare, and how do you want to try to enter?

![]() |

"Anyone here who can use a scroll of alter self? It will allow you to swim. I'm thinking one of you would benefit more from it than me, but it is a spell you have to cast on yourself."
She has two. Expensive suckers, at least at her level. She will use one on herself if she can get one or less takers.

![]() |

"Not me. I'll just walk if it is all the same." "Thanks for the offer." Lybram continues to clogg down the passage weighted down by the armor. "Anyone hurt? I could channel healing from Mighty Deadeye?" Lybram looks at his holy symbol and starts to raise it.
"Hope this last room is worth it. We really don't have much to report." Lybram adds as an afterthought.

![]() |

Sounds like Mrs. Book is going to read the scroll and turn into an undine.

DM Carbide |

Let me know when you're ready.

![]() |

Ready.

DM Carbide |

The party enters the next room, roped together and using Lybram as an anchor. The hallway opens into a large, flooded room with three isolated alcoves just above the waterline. The roar of water pouring into the chamber is loud enough to drown out quiet conversation.
There is an undine woman in one of the alcoves, a crab eidolon in the water that's similar to the two you've previously seen, and a third creature that looks like the construct you fought on the uppermost level. Unlike the one you saw before, though, this one is undamaged and has a sharklike mechanical tail instead of legs. It's armed with a ranseur.
Round 1:

"Mighty Deadeye, lend me the spirit of your bow to defeat my enemies and protect my friends." Lybram conjures a force bow in the middle of the room. It fires an arrow at the construct.
spiritual weapon attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
dmg force: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
"Move in, mates, or we'll be trapped in the hall"
If Lybram can't see enough of the construct, he will ready the above action should the construct appear.

![]() |

"Move in, mates, or we'll be trapped in the hall"
Not a chance, thank you. If anything I'll be moving back. How the heck did I end up front here anyway? Damn current.

DM Carbide |

At the moment, Lybram, you can't see the construct. If you moved up closer to the edge of the hall, though, you'll have line of sight on it.

![]() |

I don't think I have the movement. Walking in water would be difficult terrain. Can't make it into the room. 20' max double move, i think.
"Move in, surround them, we have the numbers. Or they will kill those in the doorway."
Just making character talk. Please play your characters as you know best. Just happy to be playing.

The crab bites at Joseph as he goes by, but can't hit the agile half-elf. The swimming construct stabs at Virlizard with its ranseur and hits for 12 HP piercing damage.
Mrs. Book and Corbrae can act! Remember that everyone in the room is about ten feet below the level of the hall; moving into the room is easy because of the current, though.
Construct ranseur vs. Viridian: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Piercing damage: 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (2, 3) + 7 = 12
Senethar: AC ? T ? FF ? HP taken: 0

I suppose I should make my rolls in case the readied action goes off...
