Caitlin sneaks up to a dinosaur baby and jumps out in front of it, startling it and causing it to run back into the pen. Salera fools the babies into thinking there's better food in the enclosure. The babies follow Salera back into their pen. Buford creates a stegosaurus catcher and catches himself two dino babies. Khenari puts on a show for the babies and leads them back to the enclosure. Eddie is able to calm a stegosaur baby, and is able to convince it that it's being returned to its herd. Scerzaq inspects the enclosure but doesn't see anything of note.

"Keeping track of little ones is difficult. Its much better to just broadcast your spores into the wind and let them do their thing." Eddie muses while coming up with a new plan of attack.
"Maybe luring them with food? Leafy food right?" They snatch up some handful of grass and green stems, waving them around to attract attention before throwing them into the enclosure.
"Who doesn't like food? Everything likes food!"
Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
"Oh, that's not a good food? How about this one Toady?" Eddie seems to consult a figment beneath their armor, nodding vigorously.
Hero Point Reroll: Survival, Guidance: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 = 13
Eddie has a fungal familiar. I'm not much for familiars so it stays stowed. It allows Eddie to cast guidance. If anyone else wishes for some fungal guidance let me know.

The Oxcatcher clan, most Nirmathi Ranchers reckoned, were no more than cattle rustlers and horse thieves. That was at best, a half truth. The Oxcatchers did herd cattle on the Nirmathi plains. Now, stegosauruses ain't cattle, but herding is herding. He starts hooting and hollering and heading off stragglers.
Plains Lore: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
A few times, a long time ago, I actually did help my cowboy cousins and uncles herd cattle into a pen for branding. It'd help if he was on a horse, but not strictly necessary.

"Come here, little one." Jiggo holds some of his healing plaster and smoothes it over a bruised Steggosaurus.

Khenari does her work in trying to help corral the dinosaurs back into the pen, taking time to look at the surrounding area and the pen itself.
+6 Perception

![]() |

Khenari Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Scerzaq makes clicking noises to lead the baby dinos like the pied piper. But somehow the sounds spook them and the almost trample him had he not dived out of the way in time. Caitlin whispers something in a baby stegosaurus' ear, but the baby dino just ignores her. Jiggo takes some healing plaster and places it on a deep cut on a baby dinosaur's back. The baby dino looks at Jiggo with what passes to be adoration in its eyes and docilely follows Jiggo back to the enclosure. Buford channels his inner sheepdog and succeeds in herding several babies back to the enclosure. Meanwhile, Khenari examines the enclosure for clues.

![]() |

Finally, the last dinosaur is herded back into its pen.
"Thanks for herding them! Let me count them first to make sure none are missing before I return them to their families."
She begins counting the dinosaurs, tapping at sticks in her hair the way one might count on their fingers.
"...eighteen... nineteen... no, that can't be! I must have counted wrong!" Her voice becomes more and more panicked as she repeats the count again. After recounting the dinosaurs for perhaps the fifth time, she cries out in alarm "Babs is missing! Babs is the smallest and youngest of the lot."
"Will you please find Babs so I can reunite all the young ones with the herd. I'd go with you but I need to stay here and make sure another dinosaur goes missing."
Xila searches the area around the enclosure and finds tracks of a clawed creature. "The tracks head west, " she says, pointing deeper into the wooded valley, "I wonder if the thief captured more dinosaurs than little Babs. If you do find other dinosaurs other than Babs, do bring them back to me so I can try to reunite them with their herds."
One PC can make a Survival check to follow the tracks

"Now then. Helping track your herd is a Pathfinder duty." Jiggo looks at the tracks. "Now, I'm no tracker. Not yet. But I will help the leader of the crew."

Salera nudges Jiggo a bit to the left so he doesn't lose his balance.

Buford suggests that they focus on just following the tracks as quickly as possible. I.e forgo the exploration activities to go at full speed.

Jiggo, I'll give your hero point back since Eddie crit-succeeded his check
Eddie follows the tracks and, based on the lay of the land, discerns that they lead to a specific hill nearby. He also notices the tracks of another creature near the camp.
From where you're standing, the top of the plateau is about 10 feet up. You don't see anything yet, but you hear insults being shouted in the goblin tongue.
"You little pipsqueak! You're so small you're of no use to me!!"

![]() |

"Hrm, someone seems mad. But who?" Eddie draws out a berry from their belt pouch, asking the fungus spirits to imbue it with healing power before stowing it back away in easy reach. Goodberry, lasts 10mins
"Are we being sneaky? Mushrooms are very good at hiding from sight, well, other than those bright orange chanterelles. Those guys just don't know when to fade into the background." With that Eddie creeps along after Caitlin. Stealth +5

![]() |

"I guess Salera and I can help be quiet. We got your back, Caitlin-" Salera's hand and sharp look keeps him quiet.
Jiggo has Stealth +4 and Salera has +7. Jiggo will hang 30 feet back from Salera & Caitlin.

As you near the top of the hill, you start seeing find gruesome decorations framing the lair’s entrance. Bones and body parts of various animals hang from ropes and sinew in front of crude paintings of dried blood depicting the skeletons of mammoths and dinosaurs.

Glorzia Perception vs Caitlin Stealth 17: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
You start hearing terrified bawls and cries. But still cannot see where they're coming from.

Salera, the Reformed |

Can't even sacrifice without making a mess. Salera sighs before pointing at the cave entrance. She goes in first, keeping quiet and letting her Darkvision take over.
Into the cave we go. Salera's Stealth is +7, Jiggo's is +4.

![]() |

Ol' Oxcatcher assumes the cries are coming from the cave. He draws his shield and moves closer.

![]() |

As you approach the cave, you see Babs, tightly lashed to a massive wooden stake a short distance west, toward the hill’s face. The hatchling is unharmed, but frightened. He strains against his restraints and begins letting out throaty cries when he sees you.
More insults in goblin also follow.
"Crying for rescue now, little pipsqueak?! Your rescuers can't save you! Yes, I know you're there. You will provide good food for me and my new pack!"
From where you're standing, you can see, in the distance, three creatures. You can't identify them yet.

![]() |

Eddie's eyes and ears perk up when they see, and HEAR Babs. Eddie sneaks over closer to the baby dino and tries to calm them.
"Shh baby, we'll be right back."

Keeping with the stealth.

Eddie, you can see Babs. But you also have some LoS to the top of the plateau. You can see something, just not totally clear on what you're seeing.
You'd also need to get closer to try to Make an Impression. You're about 40' away from Babs.

![]() |

Eddie creeps closer, trying to get Babs to calm down, and get a better look at what's at the top of the hill with them.
I'm going to assume 15' is close enough. I also kept Eddie with cover for the Stealthing aspect.

Salera, the Reformed |

Salera sees the steggosaurus atop the hill. She shrugs and approaches Eddie.

![]() |

"Aw, hell, I ain't much for the sneaky stuff, I say." Buford says as he walks openly towards the stegosaurus. He has his hands out and below his waist, shield in one, but a free hand in the other.
