"I'm Earl, he's Merl. We're supposed to help y'all get this cargo moving."
"Right thissa way."
Strek uncouples the hoverjack and gravnetting from their safety fasts and coordinates the loading (into one of the normal cargo holds, if possible, so as not to draw attention to their extra cargo holds).
"Say, what happens if some sorta Vesk customs ship wants to see what's inside? Are there any scanners that're safe to use?"

Akh side-eyes the crates then comes over and touches one with a claw lightly to 'hear' what might be inside. He circles around them and checks for any leaks, traps or undisclosed hazards.

We tell them we've been tasked with dumping a client's waste tanks and they reaaaally don't want to look inside after said client hosted a birthday party with gas station burritos. Besides, I'm betting we dump the boxes before any Vesk ships spot us.

You're not wrong...
Kroyvutsa waves away the issue. "You've got all the paperwork you need right there. Enforcement won't tamper with the seals, to afraid to pay for the damages." From a cursory glance, the contract and packages look above board. Strek leads the loading of the crates into the conventional cargo hold. After an uneventful period, you say goodbye to the vesk captain and her three underlings.
Days in the Drift: 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + (6) = 11
A few days into the drift, the six of you sit in the galley once again. It's nice to not have a time crunch, a herd of roaming predators, or a gaggle of goblins messing with the auto-chef. Alright! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanybody want to open those sealed crates? Anybody have anything specific you want to do during your drift travel?

Akh makes sure the crates are well quarantined, just in case they erupt into a horde of vampiric space leeches or release a deadly neurotoxin that would negatively affect his more breathing-inclined allies. After he double checks that cargo bay is well closed, he returns back to stretch out in the common area.
"So, will it be the crates trying to kill us, the crate recipient trying to kill us, or the recipient using the crates to kill us?" He creaks and chews on a particularly waxy looking piece of giant gummy candy. "Either way, can't worry too much until it happens! Who wants to play a game of charades?"
(If this is an invitation to downtime, I think Akh will finally get to Lounge to gain some temp HP!)

You recognize this creature from your readings on asteroid life forms. Brutal and shrewd, Skreeling siblings hunt in packs, pooling their nascent fighting abilities, and they are much stronger when they work together.Although they lack telepathy and the physical characteristics that would allow them to speak, skreelings can emit shrill, distinctive battle cries, often to distract prey or frighten predators away from their lairs. Skreelings are typically found on rocky planetoids with thin atmospheres, and they almost always lair within 100 yards or so of a parent skreesire’s territory. Skreelings hatch from eggs their parent has laid in corpses, gathered brush, or nests of sand; they then work together to survive until they reach adulthood. You stand next to the unconscious reptile, unsure of where it came from or what it was. What now? You can see the cargo hold camera feed if you head to the Bridge and work the computer. Or you could unlock the cargo hold door and head there. Or you could head back up to the galley and enjoy your food! :)
| Guess? |
Does reviewing the camera feed require someone with Computer skills? I'm guessing anyone of us can do that since this is our own ship and all have unfettered access to the ship's computer?
"I suggest one of us heads up to the bridge and check the cargo bay camera feeds to see if there's anything fishy..." Guess? glances at Melissa, "...to see if there is anything ysoki-y going on in there.
"The rest of us grab this bat-thing and wait outside the cargo bay doors to hear if it is clear in there or not before we head in. Whaddaya think?

As Guess? is about to head to the bridge to look at the cams, when Melissa's datapad begins emitting a very specific sound. She connects the two pads together, pulling up the second datapad's video feed. The picture shows the large crate and six smaller crates where you piled them together early. Unfortunately, three of the smaller crates have been ripped apart from the inside - the lead lined wood spread across the floor. Two more of the reptiles are crawling over the crates, biting and clawing in an attempt to get the remainder open. The microphone picks up a sharp screeching call from the pair as they work.

The second creature jumps into the air towards Jaraduk, flying over the rough ground with sticky wings and screeching as it goes. Unable to fly well, it crashes into the nuar without harming him. Untrained in Life Science, but I did forget to roll Engineering earlier..
Engineering (3 ranks): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
*grumbles* "There might be more hiding in our vents. They probly think Melissa's nest is comfy."
Strek repositions around the cargo hold, dials down his weapon to "Reheat", and tries to subdue the green-scaled one...

They don't know where they are. They will simply fight anything. We must render them incapacitated for their own safety.
With one of them in front of him he draws his doshko.

There are four broken open crates. Three of the animals are in front of you and the fourth is in Akh's gullet. So you anticipate there are either 0 or 4 more creatures in the vents. :)

Ooh, Akh has Life Science!
Life Science: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 :(
Spending 1 EP and taking an additional reaction this round to use mitigate - reducing damage taken by 3.
AoO Entropic Taclash (nonlethal) vs EAC: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 Damage (B): 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Akh takes a quick swing as the lizard rushes him, letting the taclash work its "magic" on the lizards. "I don't think I killed their mother, but you never know." He delivers two more follow-up swings at the same lizard.

"HEY! It's not a nest. It's a bed. A dog bed technically but it was on sale... and definitely a bed! "
| Del Reisora |
Del hurries into the room and fires her pulse caster pistol at the yellow little bat thing (twice, over the two turns it shows I have).

Melissa's shot goes wild as her thoughts go toward what Akh did to the creatures' mother. Strek and Jaraduk follow suit, their fearsome blows missing by a hair. Guess? is used to such thoughts, and his shot finds the chest of a rampaging lizard. Del follows up with her shocking attacks, both energy cells popping over the mini-dragon's scales. Akh solos the other creature, his whip wrapping around it in a flashing sphere. The beast runs away from the silver dragon, instead choosing to gang up on Jaraduk. Triggering another AoO from Akh and Jaraduk. Though both lizards throw themselves at the nuar, their fearsome attacks just bounce off his thick armor.

Akh whips his taclash this way and that, trying to keep the lizardy things from reaching Jaraduk. The weapon's whip-length whirs through the air with a rather alarming lack of control before Akh manages a single accurate swing. "Jaraduk, duck!"
