A small female gnome appears.
"Aatish is Aatish." she says with a wicked smile.
Aatish is a small Gnome woman with grey-pink long hair that almost illuminates her surroundings. She has a mithral buckler in her hand and wears a custom-fit Haramaki suit that looks like it has been recently oiled.
Aatish is sitting on a military saddle on top of a riding dog that looks like a red wolfhound. It is clear that this dog can fight while carrying a rider and Aatish is not really fully in control.
On Aatish's shoulder you see a tiny Rhamphorhynchus flying dinosaur that has dark red scales and looks aggressive.

Seelah arrives quietly and waves at the group. "Hello again Aatish." she nods at the gnome.
She is fully armored and ready to go out on another mission.

![]() |

Piotr walks in looking a bit haggard. Although he has bathed since the last adventure, he has about five days worth of stubble on his face. He still wears the distinctively fearsome suit of Hellknight plate armor and his wickedly sharp sword is strapped in a sheath on his back.
He gives a weary nod to those present.
A-a-atish. Seelah. G-g-good to see y-y-you again. I do h-hope we can g-g-get out of this c-c-city soon so I can ch-ch-change form.
He says shakily as he fidgets with a blackened bone ring on his finger.
S-s-sorry I'm all sh-sh-shaky. I haven't b-b-been able to s-s-sleep well since our l-l-last advent-t-ture.

A second rhamphorhynchus flies into the room and circles Aatish and her familiar.

![]() |

A familiar human woman follows closely, saying "I know you want to play with your friend, but now is not the time!" She takes a seat and looks around. "Well, it would seem that the powers that be were happy with how our last mission turned out. Have Aelin and Goe arrived yet?"

![]() |

Piotr is startled by the sudden appearance of the little flying dinosaur swooping into the room.
N-n-noooo!
In a matter of seconds, he goes through the painful transformation into wolf form. He quickly draws his sword as he snarls and looks about in confusion. He then realizes he's in the company of friends.
Ugh. Now look what you've done!
...
Well, I do feel much better.

you all receive a letter from VC Sheila Heidmarch (handout one)
An ill wind stirs whitecaps on the dark Jeggare River, carrying with it the faint odor of spoiled meat. Travelers crossing High Bridge into Korvosa grumble and pull their collars up against the cold. Past the somber city gates is a sprawling square plaza. Throughout the area, small clusters of people gather close together, stuffing their hands in their pockets as they engage in quiet conversation. Several guards hover around the edges of the plaza. A gray tabby cat rests nearby, its bright yellow eyes seeming to watch over the crowd.

![]() |

"A bit mysterious, but straightforward. Let's go."

![]() |

I suppose we should head to Eodreds Square and tell the guards that we're here to see Miss Foxglove.
Piotr notices the grey cat and glares at it as he walks by.
"Huh. A grey cat. If it was a black cat I would have considered it a portent of peril. It must not have sensed the beast within me... yet. Good, kitty. The beast within would probably rip your head off. No! Control yourself! It's a nice kitty-cat."
He thinks to himself.
As the group heads to Eodreds Square, Piotr speaks quietly to his companions out of the corner of his mouth.
I hope that if I change form, the locals won't try to kill me.
He gives White Rose a knowing glance.
While the group walks through the main streets to their destination, Piotr gets quite a few stares and can overhear comments from the locals as they subtly point and mention "Hellknight" and "Order of the Nail".
I believe there's a Hellknight citadel of the Order of the Nail here. I think I should have borrowed some Taldan armor that was more regal and less intimidating. I, uh, hope it doesn't get us in trouble.
Speaking of trouble,
He adds,
I have a wand of cure light wounds here in my wrist sheath and a potion of cure light in my pocket... here.
He pats the pocket of his Taldan tabard that lies just below the bottom edge of the Hellknight breastplate.
Going to use my Attuned to the Citysong & Urban Tenacity boons for this scenario.
As an immediate action when you are reduced to negative hit points and dying, you automatically stabilize. If you use this ability while in the community you chose as part of the Attuned to the Citysong boon, you also receive a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks for the remainder of the encounter.

you go up to the guards and explain you are here for Zeeva Foxglove, the cat rises to its feet and scampers off, The guard explains, “Zeeva Foxglove told us that she had important guests coming from the Pathfinder Society. She assured us that she would know when they arrived in this square. Don’t really understand it myself, but I suggest waiting right here until she shows up.” Within a few minutes, Zeeva Foxglove arrives in the square
A large-eyed woman in a green gown waves, and then introduces herself by handing out cards bearing her name Zeeva Foxglove and the address of the Green Market in South Shore. A cat bearing a striking resemblance to the one that rested on the square’s cobbles walks alongside her. “I owe you an explanation,” she says, “But let us travel as we talk, for my market cannot do without me for long. I know it sounds ridiculous, but there are actually three disasters waiting to strike.”
The merchant walks briskly, slipping gracefully past the crowds and carriages. “It began after I heard about a Varisian caravan parked outside the city. The vagabonds had lost everything to bandits, and, my marketplace is so profitable now, I can afford to share my bounty with those whom fate mistreats. I brought them some produce, and in return, their fortune-teller offered me a harrow reading.”
Foxglove’s rosy complexion pales. “The spread foretold good fortune, almost to excess—that is, until she turned up The Yellow Prophet. A legendary lost card, although I didn’t know that then. Its appearance upset the soothsayer. She said the card required that three more cards be drawn, and she did so hastily, giving me hardly any insight. What I’ve learned since is that each of those cards portends a dark fate—a disaster.”
She produces a deck of cards from her handbag. “It seemed the fortune-teller was hiding something, so I obtained my own harrow deck and researched the cards’ meanings. But I am still in the dark, and my own auguries tell me that time is running short. I need brave investigators, well-versed in the arcane, to determine where these calamities will strike—or, failing that, track down that fortune-teller, so that she can explain her strange behavior.”

![]() |

"So. It is a nice cat after all."
Piotr says to himself as he gives the cat an awkward smile.
As the group walks along with Miss Foxglove, Piotr listens intently to her story as he also tries to focus on avoiding the bustling crowds and carriages moving swiftly past.
Those three cards that were drawn hastily; which cards were they? You also mentioned that you researched the cards' meanings. What did you discover?

![]() |

"If there are any dark powers guiding these calamities, you can trust we will look into it and stop them... but we cannot do much against fate itself."
She nods to Piotr. "What have you learned of these?"

![]() |

Aatish raises an eyebrow and then laughs.
"Disaster is usually good. Aatish is waiting for it because then usually war starts and Gorum's thirst for battle can be satisfied!!" she says licking her lips.
"But Aatish will cooperate!" she says with a bitter undertone.

![]() |

Oleksandra seems to be flying a little farther off the ground than usual, and not getting close to Foxglove or her friend.

![]() |

Oops, left my harrower in another scenario.
"I too am curious as to what the cards were, though I admit I am not very familiar with fortune-telling techniques myself." The kitsune ponders a moment. "You don't know anything about the nature of the disasters, do you?
"In any case, tell us what you can about this fortune-teller, and we will find her and figure out what you need to know."

![]() |

the calamities/disasters
“Few people know this, but I’m something of a witch. Through dreams and auguries, I’ve confirmed that something dire is just on the horizon. I just don’t know what or where it will happen.”
What about the three cards
“I have them here. Harrow cards can be tricky: an ominous card isn’t always negative, and a cheery card can turn calamitous. Instead of relying on their traditional meanings, I’m guessing the cards have connections to people or places in Korvosa. Maybe you can catch something I’ve overlooked?” At this point, Foxglove show you all the following cards: The Betrayal, The Cricket, and The Unicorn. hand out two added to the slides
How can we find the fortune-teller
“She and her troupe vanished into Korvosa days ago. They could be anywhere. Maybe ask around? She cut a memorable figure—a Varisian half-elf with scraggly black hair and rotting teeth.”

Aaatish looks at the cards with strange look on her face.
Kn Arcana : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

![]() |

Aatish only has kn arcana so she’ll look at all of them and hopefully one is kn arcana. :-D

![]() |

"Did you keep the Yellow Prophet card? What have you learned about the possible meanings of these?"
Seelah will also take a look at the cards. She will try to identify if any of these creatures could be linked to religious stories.
Religion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

![]() |

Such interesting looking cards.
Piotr gazes at each card while Aatish holds them.
I have only seen the cards a few times in my travels but have never seen them this close up. I have never had my fortune told, either.
He tries to make sense of any of them.
Skills are in profile stat block.

with Seelahs Religon check:
the icons on the Cricket’s cards are symbols of Desna—stars, moons, and planets—all of which figure prominently in the architecture of Kendall Amphitheater, the city’s largest performance venue.
other Checks that can be done
Knowledge History, Nobility, Local
will give information on them for those that have it

![]() |

One of the cards attracts Piotr's attention.
He puts a finger to his lips in thought, then taps on the card.
This one. This card means something.
Know: Nobility: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

![]() |

Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
The kitsune takes one of the cards, stares at it a moment, and replaces it, never noticing it was upside-down.

![]() |

Sadly Piotr thinks there is something but he isn't sure when he looks at it again, then blinks and its lost with him
with not able to discern much of the cards itself its a bit frustrating though Foxglove offers to give you an abridged harrow reading, as she shuffles the suit of books set, and lays them out for you all to draw if you so wish I will roll for those that choose to draw and will PM you the card information
as you have a place to start due to Seelahs religion knowledge, you may choose to investigate the Amphitheater or see if you can ask around though could cost several hours to do so

![]() |

Seelah will pick a card. "Let's see what fate has in store for us"
After the reading, she is ready to go to check the Amphiteater.

![]() |

I'm a bit reluctant to have a harrow reading, but, I am very curious what fate my future may hold.
Piotr says nervously as he waits for his card reading.
I agree. The amphitheater it is, then.

![]() |

"I will take a card as well," White Rose says, "and then to the amphitheater."

![]() |

Aatish nods.
"Aatish will take a card but she knows her fate. She will die in battle to honor Gorum!!" she shouts.

![]() |

Piotr slowly draws a card. He looks at it with a blank expression, then gives a slight chuckle before placing it back into the deck.

![]() |

A dashing Varisian walks swiftly in your direction and bows with a flourish...
"Valeros, at your service. Excuse me for being fashionably late...I was detained overlong by...an acquaintance...the Lady Heidmarch sent me a letter, ordering me to join you. You are Pathfinders, yes?"

![]() |

Located in Cliffside near the South Shore district, the Kendall Amphitheater is an architectural jewel in Korvosa’s crown. Of the multitude that flock there to see plays, musical events, or non-violent competitions, few are aware that the structure surmounts a massive sinkhole. In fact, the Amphitheater’s long-standing ban upon gladiatorial contests exists mostly to discourage subterranean predators to burrow upwards, drawn by the smell of blood
the doors to the Amphitheater are closed currently

![]() |

Seelah welcomes Valeros and explains the situation to put him up to speed.
Once in the Amphitheater area, Seelah will ask around if there's anyone who can let them in.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25

![]() |

White Rose Duelist will come to the door with Goe Lem, ready to sweet-talk anyone who answers.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (1) + 24 = 25
Will add some actual sweet talk after we see how whoever's on the other side of the door reacts.
Not too sweet, though, apparently.

![]() |

Piotr waits patiently as he stares up at the imposing structure of the Amphitheater.
I don't think anyone is going to answer. Should we try sneaking in through a side door?
He says quietly after several moments.

![]() |

Piotr cups his hands around his mouth to amplify his voice.
Hellooooo!!!
Anyone here!?!

![]() |

the doors are closed but unlocked, you can make your way in with no issue, though you call out it doesn't seem to fall on anyone who is paying attention too much, the sounds you can make out are what sounds like stage plays going on.
the main entrance seems to be for stage props, costumes, wigs, weapons, for several different plays, besides the main entrance way there are a door on each side of the room, and a set of double doors up a set of stairs.
the one who drew the Vision card, you may make a Knowledge Engineering, History, Local or Nature check as if you were trained in it with a +2 bonus

![]() |

Seelah looks around feeling strangely drawn to the history of this place...
History: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
But she can't quite grasp the meaning behind it...

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Do we think that the activity on the stage may mask some other costume changes? Wolf howls or magical girl transformations or the like?

![]() |

Seelah will look around for a good spot for White Rose and Piotr to change. "There should be something around here"

![]() |

There's a sudden commotion of snarling, bones popping, and moaning.
When the group turns to see what the fuss is all about, they see Piotr in wolf form, panting from his transformation.
Sorry. I couldn't wait.
He growls with an embarrassed grin.
