You recently received an automated comm alert from Guidance to meet at the Lorespire Complex for details regarding your next assignment.

As you enter the main briefing room you see a familiar cluster of sleek black computers emblazoned with the Starfinder Society emblem, hardware that has digitally stored the collective personalities of prominent current and previous Starfinders for centuries. A particle beam emanating from the center of the logo begins to project a stream of holographic light towards a round table that quickly takes the shape of a humanoid figure, albeit one bereft of any definition.

"Greetings, Starfinders. I am Guidance. I have a new assignment for you. Please observe."

The humanoid projection gestures towards a datascreen and a stream of pictures and data detailing an outpost made of interconnected circular chambers begins to scroll slowly in front of you.

Engineering DC 10:
The circular chambers and tubular passageways are easily identifiable as prefabricated modulars manufactured by Veylen Enterprises. These outpost models are still quite common today due to their ease of setup and a wide variety of customizable modifications. The images you are being shown are likely stock photos.

“The Xenowardens, one of the Pact Worlds’ most prestigious organizations, recently discovered a dataset detailing the location of an outpost abandoned over two hundred years ago on a jungle planet in Near Space.” The datastream shifts to reveal a vibrantly green and blue planet orbiting a yellow star. “The Xenowardens have requested a team of agents to be dispatched to secure the site for eventual reoccupation. Please also recover any remaining data or serviceable equipment, which the Society will take as part of our payment. If you have any questions, now is the time to present them.”

Von Junzt is a hauntingly handsome and intimidating half-orc. He’s dressed with modesty and the fact that he does not carry any weapons jumps to the eyes. He casts a Charming Veneer spell every 10 minutes. Always.

"How is… everyone… doing?" he asks the rest of the group.

An actual no-excrement blue-scaled dragon, albeit a smaller one, lounges on a couch designed for their body type. Chairs are too awkward for wings and tails after all.

He is clad in heavy armor, perhaps of the golem-forged variety, and a medkit hangs from his left hip. Over his shoulder between his wings rests a large spear, perhaps a pike. On the right hip rides an axe that's almost comically small in comparison to the draconic entity's mass.

"Ronath, bound of Lakritze, also known as 'The Axe-User'. Medic, bodyguard, and let's hope I don't have to use the axe to amputate something." he offers with a bit of a smirk before glancing to Guidance.

"Do we have any intel on what forces or entities might be present on-planet, and what reasonable support can we expect if we encounter something beyond the scope of a smaller Starfinder expedition?" he inquires with a bit of a rumbly grumble, looking for his bond -- these group meetings are always rough 'solo'.

“For this assignment, you have been authorized use of a Drake or a Pegasus starship. Both starship frames can complete this assignment. Please consider the following advantages when making your decision: Drake frames have greater firepower, whereas Pegasus starships are equipped with advanced science labs and sensors. As always, to optimize the chances of completing the assignment, it is recommended that each Starfinder team choose a ship that covers any area of weakness. However, the final decision is based on your personal preference.”

Answering Ronath:
I am fine just had to put out some kind of 'fire' at work. You don't believe how boring and stupid the script for the next safety for schoolchildren on Absalom Station vid would have been. *also that it is really cringeworthy expressed in non-words* I had to carefully make our superiors convince that only speaking in teen slang is a horrible idea if i do that in that vid. Then my comm-unit alerted me the meeting for our Starfinder mission is starting... How to run out of a meeting if they all want to talk for days? I managed to leave and that we are in no rush for now to shoot that now less stupid vid after i am back.

Politely greeting everyone in the room and giving the equivalent of a smile for a Shirren towards Ronath, a youg female Shirren dressed in a horrible mixture of different styles enters the room.
She is wearing a bright blue Second Skin armour under her clothes and her exoskeleton is teal to green.

"Hello i am Lakritze! pretty sure Ronath here already talked a bit about me. Right now i am one of the few faces in front of a camera for the Stewards. Not very entertaining i know, but a real Steward Officer instead of an actress in front of the camera is somthing else.
In general i prefer the diplomatic or non-violent solution to any problem. And i can be quite charming!"
Indeed she is a charming and dexterous Shirren not suited for manual labour judging by her build.

Quote:
"How is… everyone… doing?" he asks the rest of the group.

"I am doing fine, thanks. And you are?"

Hearing what Guidance has to say "Disruptive to technology? Great... So what do we know about the Xenowardens?"

Towards Ronath using the special bond they have.
Ronath looks like you should carry part of my gear once we are there. Pretty sure i am not strong enough to carry everything on my own in high gravity. Right now i still have a lot of space left to carry more but in hight gravity that's another story.

"I do prefer a vessel similar to my own fighting style, more dextrous and quick on your feet. So the faster Pegasus is my preference and i could be the Captain, have training as a Pilot but i let other more qualified Agents take that combat role first. I am also a passable Science Officer and a terrible Gunner i assume. I am surely more dexterous then the average sentient being but we will see.."

Guidance 's hard drives whirr in response, almost as if confirming Ronath's statment.

“The exact reason why the outpost was abandoned remains unknown. That is part of the reason you are needed to investigate the site, and additional sensors may prove useful in that regard. Records indicate the outpost confirmed its establishment on the surface, but there have been no reports or responses in over two hundred years.”

Lakritze wrote:
"So what do we know about the Xenowardens?"

After standing for a little while at the table looking at the Outpost shown by Guidance.

"Do we have a name for that system or the planet? Does that abandoned colony have a name? Was there ever any news coming back from that colony?" A barrage of questions and twichting antennae.

Sitting now next to Ronath on the couch if there is still comfortable space for her or on the next best seating accommodation near Ronath.

To Ronath
First mission and we get to fly a Starship! *flashing by a few images from the flight training provided by the Society and how each station can be adjusted for different sized Starfinders or that most adjusted stations on the bridge can be switched out for different roles*

Placing a backpack carefully down and adjusting the holster while sitting down. Looks like the very widespread common Azimuth Laser Pistol in that holster.

"A standardized Pact Worlds colonial designation was not contained in the dataset. The expedition leader was recorded as having given the planet the informal designation of 'Asil' (which Guidance pronounces as "Ay-zill"). Audio logs were either not contained within the dataset or have simply been lost in the resulting centuries, although inventory records show the initial Xenowarden convoy had transported a number of live animals to the surface."

A dwarf and a pristinely clean uni-wheeled drone enter the briefing room. He seems out of sorts. He sets down a large hammer and a backpack. "I'll be back in a minute. I, uhhh, just need to find the bathroom."

He rushes out.

Suddenly, a comm device left on the table near the dwarf's backpack begins ringing.

The woman looks around and sees all of you. "If any of you see my Cletus, tell him to call his Mother. And please, someone make sure he brought is stomach medicine..."

The communication then ends.

Pre-entrance response to Lakritze:
You had me worried. Do you want to set up an emergency extraction for just that kind of situation in the future -- it's the first time that has come up, at least. Also, I have plenty of space for you over here on the couch. And no, I haven't talked about you, because it seemed better to let you introduce yourself. *mental toothy grin*

The blue dragon shifts slightly to open up enough space on the couch for the brightly clashing Shirren to sit comfortably.

Depending on who we have on the team, I may have to do that for a couple of people. We'll see how it plays out.

A few moments later Ronath shifts slightly, providing a bit more space to the Shirren.

We have a saying on Triaxus -- "If Apsu wanted us to fly regularly, he wouldn't have made it so darn difficult to do so." You *know* what happened when I was on the shuttle and they didn't have a couch for me to lounge on. They were pulling bits of my claws out of the bulkheads for WEEKS.

...the dragon suddenly makes a most undiginfied sticking-out-of-tongue at the Shirren before reeling it back in and returning his attention to the briefing.

And then the dwarven matron starts ranting. *Hysterical laughter* that sobers down to *genuine concern*

"You'd be 'Cleat-us', right? Don't forget your stomach medication and anti-emetic. Also, do not forget to call your brood-mother, she worries about you greatly on your adventures." is offered with a complete deadpan. "If you have a medical condition you'd like to tell me about *in private* I might be able to help with it if you need it."

Earlier...

Ronath is bemused and about to make another comment to his bond when the Ryphorian enters. The dragon WAS about to say something polite in greeting when suddenly said Ryphorian trips and nearly collides with *his* bond.

Lak! Are you okay? Did the tall oaf hurt you? he inquires mentally in a bit of a panic

The Stare he gives Sisyar is probably enough to elicit the reaction, and then he grumbles and snorts a bit.

Just make one joke about amputations and suddenly they're sending additional healers along with the team. Eeeesh, doesn't anyone have a sense of humor these days?

As Cletus's drone keeps popping out the gun the dragon chuffles. "When you said 'surprise punch' I was expecting a fist to pop out on a metal coil or a bowl with some fermented fruit beverage to slide out. That's definitely a surprise... So how is ROL-R going to handle technology not working right?"

On-board ship, passing time...

"Hey, Cletus! Don't break the expeller pressed legume curd option, please! I think Lakritze knows four recipes to make it taste better. Oooh, there's an idea... how about instead of trying to fix the one thing, fix the other three to make the 'Out of Order' option? You know, sort of like how you can use the magic color ink to make black ink on transparent paper printers?"

Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 6 I think the Law Officer still applies here....

Also, throughout the trip the dragon will be *very* close to Sisyar physically. As in, nearly everywhere he goes. Not close enough to be a 'bond' sort of thing, but almost like he's trying to prove a point.

Every time the Ryphorian tries to stretch out or the like, Ronath will back off suddenly. "Uhh, sorry sir, I didn't see you, I didn't see you, forgive me."

After the second or third time it happens (provided there's not a dramatic outburst earlier) the blue will stick his tongue out at Sisyar and then find something else to do.

...that something else may involve trying to talk to Von Junzt.

Lak, the Captain seems very... curt. Is it something I said or did?

To Ronath
No need for radical tactics there for those meetings. I will find the ones who dreamed of being artists as larvae although without any talent and now are making everyone's work a bit harder. With a bit of networking i will be informed earlier in the future about horrible scripts and don't have to stand up in a meeting.

In reaction to Ronath's discomfort on ships not designed for Dragonkins.
Guidance, if i recall the Drake class ships have a basic interior, which is not designed for large creatures like Dragonkins for example. Would it be possible to fit a couch like this one patting the couch she sits on onto the bridge at least? Better two one for the bridge and one for the crew quarters, we can carry them as a team i guess.

Eyeing the young Dwarf Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (15) + 5 + (1) = 21 Put Law Officer theme on top and it's crystal clear. Lakritze sees right through the obvious lie.

Privately to Cletus Remember you can answer telepathy back! As long as i intiate the conversation there is no need to use your voice.

Diplomay to hit the right tone: 1d20 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 8 + (4) = 22 Cletus your mother will always see you in your larval stage, she has a hard time to remember you are a big boy now. I know you are a big brave boy you made it through Starfinder training and that drone is really unique. So if you don't want to have big scaly boy here, my Dragonkin partner, also watching you constantly to take your medicine and follow you everyhwere on the ship you better inform him like a doctor. Ronath, the big scaly boy, has studied Medicine and knows what he is doing.
Accidents due to medical conditons in basic crew quarters are no fun for anybody.
Arrgh i know why i rely on rolling Diplomacy. Still feels awkward.

As for naming the ship
"Why not Protector Karen or Mighty Karen or just Karen for our ship?" it's unclear what her intentions are. "Traditonal ships do have female names so why not Karen?"

"Hello Sisyar!"
To Ronath
I am fine he is a lightweight like i am one!

Please be respectful i know someone who's realname is Karen and since it became a thing on the internet her low self esteem took a really severe hit! Just getting bullied for no reason at all is horrible. Imaging to be anxious about your name!

On the ship
Ron i don't think the Captain is someone who really socializes in a friendly manner. Seems to be one of those ruling with a a carrot and a stick and finding it easier to use the stick. *sigh*

Only if Sisyar makes a scene Lakritze wil interfere, knowing too well how stubborn and mischievous Ronath can be.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (14) + 5 + (1) = 20
Using her natural telepathy and also emitting that she knows that Cletus is hiding something and his answer was a lie.
Just do your best to improve our diet and don't forget to speak from Engineer to Engineer once we are back at Absalom Station. If you can't repair it now then it is broken.

Sadly to be born and raised on a ship is too vague and well sometines your home planet could give you a teeny little bonus for a check. Or a bit more of information.

Too bad we did not really roleplay the naming of the ship as a whole group.

@ Lakritze: I am the first to admit that a little bit of the typical "Karen" jokes goes a LONG way. Honestly, it was really the haircut on the artwork that made me laugh, and I only used Karen so most anyone would instantly relate. In all other ways, Cletus' mother is actually not a "Karen" in the classic sense--she is actually very nice to all of the other Starfinders, and even to her servers at the local Absalom Station Space-Applebees! Her unfortunate haircut is the only thing that causes me to laugh just a bit. Otherwise she is simply an overbearing (but very loving) mother that makes Cletus a little grumpy. It's obviously not my intent to offend or make anyone feel bad, especially a fellow player who I am enjoying playing this scenerio with. In many ways, this Karen is breaking many "Karen" stereotypes.

Cletus' comm device lights up with a recorded holo transmission from his mother. "Cletus honey, I hope this isn't a bad time, but..."

Cletus curses and shuts off his comm device, and returns to optimizing the engines.

We don't generally don't bite people's heads off unless we have to."

There's a pause for a beat.

"The amount of floss one has to use to get ligaments out of the teeth is pretty cost-prohibitive." he then quips.

He takes the offerred hand in a firm but not overly strong grasp.

"Ronath, sometimes refered to as 'The Axe-User' after a few choice amputations during a battle on Triaxus. Lak calls me 'Ron' or 'Ro' depending on her mood."
