Wow sounds like a bunch of snow Jon! Stay warm up there and way to be for your neighbors clearing snow for peeps. Was in Florida all week so would have been difficult to post. Came home and my brand new computers wifi adapter wasn't working, fixed now. Sending prayer to everyone up Alaska.
Do you guys want to show me where you are standing on the map? And everyone go ahead and roll me a perception check.
Specter Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Splitz Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Del Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Ash Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Diaz Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Initiative Order Round 1
Splitz
Diaz
Ash
Specter
Del
Splitz, Diaz, and Ash you guys can give me your readied actions.
Akeldama 'Del' Mourningstone |
I’m on the bed, thinking that’s at the center of the room. Leaves space around me. Also thinking since I made it go away that it may want to target me when it comes back, maybe up thru the floor again like it left last time?
Diaz e Pam |
Diaz is going to position himself by the door and hold eldritch blast until he sees the specter
For ease if it shows up
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d10 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Baron Splitz Von Blitz |
Yay! the game is going again, Benj told me last night and I forgot until just now. We are back in Ohio after lovely Florida, so today it was 56 degrees and I wore shorts and no jacket to Kroger...lol. Winter will get the last laugh it issuppose to get into single digits later this week.
Splitz picks a corner and then keeps his eyes peeled.
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Blade drawn he's a ready as he can be.
Will attack if the Specter is in striking range.
Longsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
slashing damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Ashtaroth "Ash" Mourningstone |
Im in ft Wayne visiting Lydia’s family for the next few days. Only have phone to post with til tomorrow.
Ash will ignore the plan and stand next to his brother (and next to another person if that’s possible. He will use his reaction to impose disadvantage on any attack vs someone within 5 feet and will ready an attack with his mace.
Diaz e Pam |
precep: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Benjen Harris |
Specter Stealth Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Specter Attack w/ Disadvantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 173d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3) = 9
The specter remerges through floor its long black hair draped over its pale white face, it lunges for Del. Ash tries to fire an eldritch blast from around the corner but the magical bolt hits and singes the bed post. But as the spirit reaches for Del, Ash leaps from behind interposing his shield in-between the specter and his brother. The necrotic energy almost rusting the metal of Ashes shield.
Everyone can go!
Ashtaroth "Ash" Mourningstone |
I forgot to roll my readied attack (and also mistyped my weapon as a mace since I didn’t have my sheet before. Lol) Also, if he hits, will use Divine Smite to deal 3d8 adds damage.
readied attack with scimitar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Divine Smite: 3d8 ⇒ (2, 7, 4) = 13
Ash feels the chill of death seep into his flesh as the creature touches his shield. Eldath’s mercy! This creature reeks of the grave. It lives only to kill and torment and no mercy can be given. Seeing that this creature can not be saved, he calls upon the goddess of redemption once again.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
CRIT: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Divine Smite: 3d8 ⇒ (5, 4, 4) = 13
Akeldama 'Del' Mourningstone |
Not sure if I'll be needed after that attack!
Noting the specter coming thru the floor and trying to take out his brother, Del rages forward swinging with his mace.
mace attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 61d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Note to self, never attack a specter with a mace from the top of a soft feather bed.
Diaz e Pam |
will you hold still so I can hit you! Diaz cries and points his whip as purple lightening streaks from it
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 171d10 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Benjen Harris |
So a readied action takes your reaction meaning by using protection on Del would mean you could do a readied attack. Will post later today.
Ashtaroth "Ash" Mourningstone |
Rules clarification from Ben, but definitely in our favor. I can't take the readied attack, but my Divine Smite damage is doubled on a critical. So Ash will do nearly the same damage and only need to use one spell slot instead of 2. Thanks Ben!
Divine Smite CRIT: 3d8 ⇒ (6, 3, 4) = 13
Baron Splitz Von Blitz |
What a hit Craig!
The Baron is caught slightly off guard by the undead's return. He sees Ash's tremendous blow! And swings around to join in (if needed).
He takes a swing. But it's a feeble miss.
Longsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
slashing damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Benjen Harris |
Yeah excellent strike by Ash!
With the spirit returning a flurry of attacks is unleashed upon it! Splitz and Del's attacks go wide but Diaz's blast puts a sizeable hole within the specter. The ghostly woman turns and howls at the tiefling and begins to charge him hands outstretched flowing with dead, necrotic energy. However rounding the bed with a flourish is the feeble paladin whos blade kisses the air making a whistling "shing". The specter notices all to late that the sword has its name on it. The blade connects, across where the specters neck was and as it does bright radiant like illuminates the room threatening to blind all of you. When the light fades only simple clothes remain where the specter was standing but even those soon fade into nothingness.
We are out of combat! What would you all like to do?
Diaz e Pam |
Is it dead? I mean deader? Is it coming back? Diaz ask while looking at the remains as they disappear.
Baron Splitz Von Blitz |
It seems Ash has vanished it! Fine strike! Splitz says admiring the paladin's work.
I fear only ghosts remain in this place, but let's quickly search the rest to be sure. Perhaps we search the rest of this floor first, then move to the attic. But let's give this room a good look around.
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
If you want investigation instead add one
Akeldama 'Del' Mourningstone |
I'll help look as well. Quickly my friends, I fear we won't last much longer if we linger too long.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
by the way, where do you have everyone ben on hp? I've lost track.
Ashtaroth "Ash" Mourningstone |
After the blinding flash subsides, you see a smoldering fire lingering in the otherwise docile paladin’s eyes. His face set in a chill anger as he stares at the vanquished spirit, Ash glances at Del furtively before his face resumes the passive mask that he normally wears.
I am with my brother once again. This house reeks of evil and we should not remain longer than necessary.
I should have a few points of lay on hands to supplement Del’s healing if needed. Baron is listed at 13hp, but I think we may have healed hi, previously?
Benjen Harris |
I believe everyone is full on HP. Splitz used his Second Wind and was also healed by Del so he should be full.
You've already found what you can in this room. Where would you like to search instead?
Baron Splitz Von Blitz |
Full of hit points yeah! , the Baron leads the group to the other side of the landing. Ignoring the more prominent double door for now. He moves to the single door around to the left.
Throwing caution to the wind as he often does, he simply opens the door without checking it for dangers.
Benjen Harris |
The double doors to this room have dusty panes of stained glass set into them. Designs in the glass resemble windmills.
The dusty, cobweb-filled master bedroom has burgundy drapes covering the windows. Furnishings include a four-poster bed with embroidered curtains and tattered gossamer veils, a matching pair of empty wardrobes, a vanity with a wood-framed mirror and jewelry box, and a padded chair. A rotting tiger-skin rug lies on the floor in front of the fireplace, which has a dust-covered portrait of the master and lady of the house hanging above it. A web-filled parlor in the southwest corner contains a table and two chairs. Resting on the dusty tablecloth is an empty porcelain bowl and a matching jug. A door facing the foot of the bed has a full-length mirror mounted on it
Baron Splitz Von Blitz |
DM didn't read my post lol...its all good
Instantly, all most compulsively drawn the the strange mirrored door, Splitz moves to the foot of the bed and stares into the mirror.
Investigation: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Benjen Harris |
Oh yeah I just skimmed and saw double doors and assumed that you were opening them, whoops! If you texted me about my error I would've changed it lol.
You see yourself in the reflection.
Baron Splitz Von Blitz |
Splitz shuts the closet door, looks at himself in the mirror again. Points and says, Still looking good!
He then goes and opens the small door in the corner.
Akeldama 'Del' Mourningstone |
Del popps into the room after the Baron and looks around with him, chuckling to himself as he watches him posing in front of the large mirror.
You certainly can strike a pose! You need a catwalk to strut up and down on....maybe this tiger rug will do.... Smiling he looks around the room for anything that stands out.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
You didn't open that door behind the wardrobes, did you? I'll check that door out as well if I didn't misread the post.
Benjen Harris |
That door leads to a small balcony. Looking out you can only see the dense fog that surrounds the house.
Ashtaroth "Ash" Mourningstone |
With a dour expression, Ash trails after Del like a shadow. His expressionless mien only changing as he rolls his eyes in response to the baron posing. Do not encourage the peacock, brother. He whispers to Del as they both peek out the door at the balcony. Seeing nothing immediately threatening, Ash will explore the vanity, jewelry box and portrait for anything of interest.
Investigation: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
Akeldama 'Del' Mourningstone |
Wow, the brothers Grimm are rolling rocks! I bet we surely found the false bottom in the pitcher hiding the magic wand!
Diaz e Pam |
Diaz hangs back at the door, keeping an eye behind them. do we check under the bed and rug? Diaz readies an eldritch blast if anything attacks.
Benjen Harris |
Unfortunately you don't find any fancy false bottoms on anything, but you do find some fine jewelry in the jewelry box. You find that the box itself is made from a silver and gold filigree and is probably worth 75GP. Inside the box are three rings made of various materials, each worth 25GP. And finally the find platinum necklace with a topaz pendant worth a massive 750GP.
Baron Splitz Von Blitz |
Hum, I'm not sure any among the living can lay claim to these pretty items any more. The Baron looks around to see the others opinions on the new found loot.
Akeldama 'Del' Mourningstone |
Maybe they will benefit the living, but this land is so poor, I don't know who would buy them from us. Maybe we'll find someone from the family that still lives that we can pass them on to.
Let us quickly examine the room you noted in the hallway, Splitz. Then we can maybe go up to the attic and then leave this cursed home!
I'll examine the final door on this floor and if no sound, will try and open it.
Benjen Harris |
This dark room contains a wooden tub with clawed feet, a small iron stove with a kettle resting atop it, and a barrel under a spigot in the east wall.
Diaz e Pam |
Diaz continues to keep an eye on overwatch
preception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Benjen Harris |
Besides finding out that the bathroom is no longer operational you don't find anything Del. Diaz you keep an eye out but don't spot anything in the shadows.
