Sure. This works just like around the table. Rounds of combat typically take about one day to play. Do you know how to use things like dice tags in posts? If not, I can point you to some material about that.
Welcome to the wonderful word of PBP

Thanks! I don't know how to dice, so I'd love info about that. How much should I have in my profile? I haven't put my character sheet in there yet.

It's good to have a basic stat block in there, and some instructions about how you want to be played if you can't post for a day.
In the header of this thread there is a lot of information about playing in a PBP environment. It's probably worth reading that, and then asking specific questions.

That reminds me I keep putting off creating botting instructions for my characters. Time to do that lol.

Thanks John. That makes this a legal table.
Have any of you got thoughts as to which NPC you would like along if there are just the three of you?

![]() |

She's not great (feinting) and doesn't have the envoy trick for healing SP. I don't want to take away from the Solarian for fighting, so mystic? Or do we want the soldier for tanking?

Hello GM! I read your post over on the Flaxseed Station Recruitment thread. I'd like to sign up - I added myself to your google sheet for this module and will submit the character in full shortly. Thanks!

Yeesh...GM A, will this party composition work for the scenario? My character is an archaeologist, but if needed I can play a pregen instead to avoid having a party that's half technomancers (though I'd rather not).

![]() |

Recently played First for the Four with a pair of Technomancers. Magic Missile saved the party more than once. If the group wants to go a different direction, I'll bow out.

![]() |

For low level scenarios in particular, party make-up is not *that* important. Some things will be easy, others hard.
There is still time for others to join us, and I'd generally prefer folk play a character of their own than a pre-gen. We are after all about role playing not just filling a niche.

![]() |

I think we will be fine either way. We can just be more cautious and I will pick up some extra serums, LOL. Kharos is already a cautious politician type.

If it makes you feel better, you weren't the only one. I signed up right away, but I didn't realize we were playing here, so I didn't get in until now. With permission, you will soon see a half-orc woman vanguard join your party.

Question: my character will level up after this chronicle. I have decided to multiclass, adding a level of Operative. I picked up the Character Operations Manual, and Stunt and Strike looks like a good alternative to Trick Attack.
My question is, do I either choose all the class features in the core rulebook or all the alternate features in the COM, or can I mix and match? I would prefer to keep Operatives Edge, but does that mean I cannot have Stunt and Strike?

![]() |

Such alternate class features replace another one. So if you have Stunt and Strike, you don't get Trick attack and debilitating trick.

That makes sense. So it is possible to have Operative's Edge, Specialization, and Stunt and Strike as level 1 class features?

I read the COM again, more carefully. Sure enough, the very last line of each feature explains which core rulebook feature it replaces. I'm good.

COM has some really good stuff. I've been playing with some of the contributors, and it's really interesting to see how they react to unexpected uses of the abilities.

By the way, does anybody know a good place to post LFP notices? I am running 1-08 on Discord/Roll20 this Wednesday, and I only have one player. If anybody wants to join, I would love to make a table.

![]() |

Are you on the OPO Discord? pfschat.com. There's a pbp section and one for vtt.

![]() |

If any of you feel like I'm acting as a provocateur, that was not my intention. I get that we're supposed to take Fayetta at face value and go kill Mengian and end the mission. I'm just having a little fun with the cracks in the narrative. I hope GM is as well.

![]() |

Actually how you deal with the Wings is not predetermined in the society. You are free to choose later on whether to turn over information about them, or keep them hidden. Either choice has long term consequences.
But first, you need to stop the assault team!

![]() |

I actually made this character specifically for this scenario, and to go the route the group has been going. I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't say more.
(I GMed this last year.)

![]() |

Nice try with the diplomacy. If this was non-society play I would let it work, but within the confines of the scenario I think that is pushing what diplomacy can manage too far.
That said, I'm sorely tempted to fineness a skill challenge for you all as an alternative to that final battle.

![]() |

Okay, first time I have met the whirlwind ability in Starfinder.
My reading was:
The base of a creature in whirlwind form occupies a 5-foot
square, and the whirlwind is twice as wide at its top as its
base and has a height equal to four times the width of its
base;
So the base of the whirlwind is 5' and the top (at 20' up) is 10' (or maybe.
I assume your elemental is a tiny one?

![]() |

Yes, it's tiny, but I don't think that affects the size of the whirlwind.

![]() |

Right, but where the elemental is positioned, it is not next to any of the enemies, so wouldn't be able to capture any in its whirlwind - which is one square across at the bottom, and two squares across at the top.

![]() |

It manifested near yellow and has 100 feet flight speed, so was able to move through all three.

![]() |

I find the replies from the Sarcesians to be overly thick-headed. Go to the top of the last gameplay page and read my post again - how can they be so dumb? If the rest of the group wants to let two go, fine, but that would not be my vote. In game, we have a responsibility to bring them all to justice, one way or another. I am not sympathetic to their cause because they have not given us any evidence, or even an explanation to support their terrorist motivations. Perhaps Kharos feels more comfortable with that given his history, and if he speaks on their behalf I may be swayed, but it would need to be very compelling given that these zealots have killed other Starfinders. How would we even report letting them go?

![]() |

No, I'm all for bringing them in dead or alive. But Tari is a touch on the vindictive side. :)

![]() |

I'm not great at range, but I can try to fight the last guy in melee. Honestly, my thought right now is to tell the good Sarcesians to leave, and let the Eoxians find the last two. I'm really tempted to turn this guy over to them for being such a pain.
