Grigory tries to find a safe path to Corgrim while Nightkit and Leon team up to do little of consequence against the bandit between them. Merida fires off another pair of arrows that again go wide.

Challa's performance ended when she went unconscious. She can restart it with a standard action this round, but she won't get the attack.

Challa resumes her song of Pathfinder glory.

Kalkamedes--now out of sight--presumably continues his march as the bandits focus on the Pathfinders.

GM Screen:

The archers arrows all finally go wide, giving the Pathfinders a moment to try to take an advantage. However, the sole rapier-wielding bandit does poke Leon with a strike that initially looks very dangerous, but a late twist sends it just away from the vital organs.

Corgrim needs to make another DC 10 Constitution check to stabilize, with a -8 penalty due to negative hp.

Grigory sprints along the path Corgrim took moments earlier and drops to the ground behind his unconscious companion, hoping to make himself more difficult for the bandits to hit or avoid their attention completely.

If the others keep those bandits busy without getting themselves killed, we might just get back into this fight, he thinks, glancing in the direction Kalkamedes continued in hopes of getting a sense of how far the sleepwalker had wandered while they were distracted.

Grigory, when I last saw you on the map, you were in the area of the X I just placed. How did you accomplish so much movement in one round?

To avoid this kind of confusion, I'd like to ask all players to use the "LINE" tools (I like "Polyline," myself) built into Google Slides to show your movement. If that's not possible due to the device you use to post, please describe your movement and list out how far that is.
. . Move 3 squares (20') NE
Something like that ^ will work.

On my screen (ymmv) the line tools are the icon underneath the Menu label "Arrange" (just the menu label, not the actual menu itself); the icon looks like a 45° line down with a dot at both ends.

Thanks!

Sorry about that. I had healed Challa and then moved back 30 feet to the opening of the shortcut at the end of that round, but my token may not have been moved when you looked at the map, or I moved it after asking about running and my planned running path was different from what you had described. Then for the current round, I counted off 120 feet of movement from that spot along the shortcut path. I can reset my token and retcon my turn since it looks like we weren't on the same page regarding my starting position/ability to run to Corgrim. I'll go ahead and delete my last post.

Grigory hustles along the path Corgrim had just followed, hoping the others can hold the bandits' attention without sustaining any more injuries in the time it takes him to reach their fallen companion.

Map updated with movement line. That will definitely make it easier to keep track. Not super familiar with using Google Slides like this so I wasn't sure of the protocol.

Grigory continues to try to get to Corgrim, whose injuries have thankfully stabilized on their own. Leon misses his target again, but the distraction creates a great opening for Nightkit, who skewers the bandit between them; the bandit still stands, but there's a vacant look behind his eyes as he wobbles uneasily in place.

Merida sends a pair of well-aimed arrows at one of the bandits on the other side of the path. If not for a low-hanging branch, both would have hit the man, but the Pathfinders are surely happy that at least one set of feathers is now protruding from the man's midsection.

Challa moves up and puts some grease underneath one of the archers, who falls flat on his feet. "A spellcaster!" he yells.
Your token did move, and get enlarged and turned around, so I had to guess at your starting spot. The movement you described didn't look like it would put you in range to cast the spell, so I took the liberty of changing where you moved to make it work.

All of the archers now turn their attention to what they see as their biggest threat. The fallen archer stands up from his prone position and joins the team in firing on Challa, but only one arrow connects.

The bandit by Leon and Nightkit, seemingly afraid now for his life, begins slowly moving away from the pair. Triggers AoOs from both.

Nightkit double moves across the path in an attempt to regain a flank with Leon against green.

Although she is considering just making a dash for it to catch up with Kalkamedes but that means running a gauntlet of arrow fire - probably not a good idea in her current state of health - but it could be argued this move isn't either.

Would crouching down behind Corgrim provide Grigory with any sort of partial cover? I considered dropping prone when I got to him, but didn't want to have to spend a move action to get back up after healing him. It's strange that crouching doesn't seem to be covered anywhere in the rulebook

I could have sworn there was a kneeling or crouching rule. Free action drop to a knee and move to stand up. +2 vs range attacks and -2 vs melee. Buuut I can’t find it anywhere AND it has the same issue as dropping prone soooo...

Don't know about a crouching kneeling rule, but the bandits perceive Challa as the biggest threat now. And they finally took some damage from Merida as well, so it's unlikely they will fire at Grigory.

Additionally, green and yellow are in melee now, which means for them making a ranged attack would trigger an AoO.
I doubt they will do that considering their colleagues purple and blue dropped their bows and drew their rapiers when they were dragged into melee.

Conclusion: I would not worry too much about getting shot. ;-)

No, you can't get cover from a prone creature, but being prone yourself provides the same bonus to AC as having cover does so... six of one, half-dozen of the other? I think the drop to a knee rule is related to partial cover (dropping behind a ruined wall, for example); someone can look that up to confirm if they want, but I don't think it will have bearing on our current situation.

Grigory, I finally figured out which parts of your rolls kept nagging over me the whole weekend:

I think your attack roll is missing another +5 for BAB and STR. So the result would be 19, not 14 - and that should make a huge difference! :-)
Also, Power attack adds 50% more damage with a two-handed weapon. So you have +1 damage as well (should not be relevant this time).

@GM Zin: Please check my math. Thanks!

Thanks for checking my math. It's been a while since I've played and I got so caught up with adding the various conditional attack bonuses that I completely forgot about the literal base attack bonus.

No problem! If it helps us win this fight quicker (and without casualties on our side), anything is worth double-checking. :-)

Your facepalm hits! Thankfully, as it's not over 9000, it only deals non-lethal damage... :-D :-D :-D

Side note:
I find it easier to copy and paste my attack formats from my profile and edit it for additional modifiers.
And I absolutely did not steal the idea of preparing the dice expressions in my profile from other players... no, no, I'll never admit to that, that never happened... ;-)

Challa repositions her lights, and gives a final inspiring verse of her song as she sends an arrow off into the woods. Nightkit's wounds continue to bleed out.

This is the last round of bardic performance; it will expire before Challa's round 9 action.

The bandits retaliate in a last gasp for success.

GM Screen:

red bandit vs Challa AC 18: 1d20 ⇒ 4
yellow bandit vs Leon AC 17: 1d20 ⇒ 8

Neither lands a hit! Grigory rushes over, choosing glory over Kalkamedes or Corgrim, leaving the rogue still lying facedown--but safe. Glory he gets, killing the bandit very dead and in gory pieces spread over a wide patch of woods.

Round 8 (bold may act)
Nightkit (-12/8 hp; unconscious, dying, pending stabilize check)
Leon (-7/17 hp)
Merida (-4/12 hp)

Round 9 (bold may act; Round 8 actions will resolve first)
Challa (-6/9 hp) Bardic performance expires here

Grigory (-3/11 hp)

Leon (-7/17 hp)
Merida (-4/12 hp) (go ahead and post 2 rounds of actions to align the rounds; 2nd action will only resolve after everyone else, though)

With party members bleeding out and Kalkamedes continuing his unguided march, I'm keeping us in rounds for the moment.

Round 9:

Merida continues to run (red arrow) after the wounded Kalkamedes, looking for any sign (e.g. blood on the ground?) where he (and his trailing rope) went.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

If running is possible while doing Perception checks (without incurring penalties!), Merida will try to do so. Otherwise, she will double move while scanning the environment.

@GM Zin: Is there another map for the area where Kalky's path continues? Or just non-descript forest with some paths?
