… And then back down to level 1 in PFS :) It's all a dream.

So if we all die we get a free do-over right?

Malevolence

Yeah, it's super weird that you don't actually earn enough XP on the chronicles for you character to hit second level. Especially considering they earn enough XP in the game.

I guess it leaves you to do, say, Absalom Initiation or Pathfinder Trials at 1st level? More important for Pathfinder Trials. Or maybe some Bounties. Eh. Who understands their puzzling minds.

Are the 2nd level choices predetermined?

Mostly.

I think each class has one choice to make. The skill feats are predetermined.

Found it! Thanks!

Yeah, the skill increase is kind of a bummer, because I would have taken deception for Dethor.

The elemental boons last 24 hours, so I think they would last overnight and well into the next day. (For example, if we acquired them at 4 PM, we could rest all night and come back to the dungeon in the morning for almost a full adventuring day with the boons available).

We could camp down here too; I think that if we're leveling up the casters will want their shiny new spells.

Malevolence

Yes, the boons will last long enough for you to rest and come back. Or you can certainly camp out over night.

I should be leveled up, too.

Repairing Lion Shield:
Craft (DC 14): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Craft (DC 14): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

That'll do it. 2 minutes.

They Errata'd it

Errata wrote:
Page 349: Some corner cases in magic fang and magic weapon. In magic fang, change the Targets entry to “1 willing creature.” Change the first sentence to “Choose one of the target’s unarmed attacks.” Change the last sentence to “The unarmed attack becomes a +1 striking unarmed attack, gaining a +1 item bonus to attack rolls and increasing the number of damage dice to two if it had only one.” This makes the spell less restrictive and more versatile. In magic weapon change the Targets entry to remove the word "nonmagical" so you can still cast it on a +1 weapon to get the extra striking die.

Also, if we’d prefer to not play CRB vs Beginner box wording games, Dethor does have his originally non-magical weapons, such as his rapier.

I don’t know what the wording in beginners box is.

Looking at my updated CRB, it no longer requires it to be a non-magical weapon. Given that the errata agrees with it, I think it is pretty clear the intent was to allow it. I am glad that is the case, it avoids you having to worry about if someone already has a potency rune on the weapon.

I think Dethor gets to choose which weapon he wants, the rapier or the shortsword. We can put it on which ever weapon he prefers.

Malevolence

The Beginner Box is still non-magical, which is unfortunate for the game's consistency. Let's go with their errata though.

That was awesome, Doug! Thank you for running!

I would like to GM Troubles in Otari on PbP next. Would anyone from this group be interested?

I've been playing it with our local PFS lodge and it is shorter than the standard 64-page module (about 16 hours pf playtime we are estimating), and it would be a 3-4 month commitment most likely.

I would want to start it after Outpost commitments clear up a bit.

Malevolence

Yes please!

Thanks all for playing! I hope you had a great time. I know I did!

Thank you for running this, Doug! You did great. It was certainly more of an old-school dungeon crawl (as expected).

Campaign mode. I would allow Uncommon ancestries and all that jazz.

So would it be using the full PF2 rules or just a continuation of Beginners Box? Since you are saying Uncommon Ancestries, sounds like full PF2 rules.

I'm calling dips on tiefling investigator!

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

Full PF2 rules!

The intent of BB (as far as I know) is to train people with a simplified set to start, but let them grow into the full ruleset afterward. The Task Force I am on put up a Conversion guide in a recent blog, if you are interested in carrying your character over.

Depends on the group dynamic.

I am fine with an all dwarven party, or we can do something else.

I'd love to do it... but I think I'd prefer to keep at it with these characters, as it has been a lot of fun.

Granted, we'll have to cover Kruppe, who probably got lost between his bedroom and the kitchen some evening.

do you have a link?

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

If you want to convert these characters for continuity, I would also allow you to start with your share of the GP the Beginner's Box would have given you and any items you want to keep, which is significantly more than you'd otherwise get from standard wealth by level.

I can let you know what that is later.

here's the link to the conversion guide; I would be willing to work with you on something if you weren't happy with it too. I think Biltri wanted to originally be a barbarian, for example.

NG M Forge Dwarf Barbarian 4 | HP (81) 74/74 | AC <20> 21 (22) | F +11 R +7 W +9 | Perc +9 (darkvision) | Stealth +1 | 20 ft | Focus: 1/1 | Hero Point: 1/3 | Active Conditions: toughness, deny advantage (L4), resist fire 2

While Biltri has been the dwarf character of mine that I've liked the most, dwarves are still not my favorite, and I like to take advantage of campaign modes to experiment with character designs.

I will say that playing Biltri made me change my plans for my Hobgoblin from Barbarian to Fighter. I'm currently interested in playing a remake of a home game oracle that I had a lot of fun with, but he has to be human to make it work.

If I still need to fill the martial role, then I would probably play either a barbarian or swashbuckler (yes, very different, but I haven't had any experience with either in PF2).

Malevolence

I'll try to get chronicles done today. Please post your day job rolls. I believe I have everything else I need.
